The voting has ended. This is the final scoreboard!

I've updated the score post with the date for when the voting will stop.
#64
Since there don't seem to be any more votes, it's time to end the voting phase:
And the winner isssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss... ART HEIST 3000 by Gameboy! Congratulations! :)

Again, I'm sorry for not announcing the hourgame early enough, I (or someone else) will try to do this properly next time.
Cya on the next hourgame! :shocked: (I don't know when that will be)

It sounded dissonant to me, if it the guitar was in tune, then yeah you probably played some notes that were not part of the scale. But, nice entry, anyways, I also play the guitar in the spare time and I appreciate to hear some more guitar playing. :)
Keep it up.

I guess it's my turn to vote.
xBRANEx, like you said, your composition feels kind of unfinished/a sketch, so you should still work on it and finish it. If I could give a 4th vote it would be for your entry.
Creamy, nice guitar track, but I feel your guitar was a bit out of tune when you recorded the song?
I felt as if Ogon and Dualnames have put the most work into their songs, it's just that Dualnames' song feels more like it's about love than Ogon's song.
So...

#1 (3 points) Dualnames
#2 (2 points) Ogon

and bicilotti's song is #3 (1 point) because I am a stupid millennial and I don't appreciate baroque music enough.

Sorry guys, this ship is sinking, so someone has to replace the captain temporarily (I don't know where the captain is, here's hoping he's okay).
Anyways, I'm sure he would've wanted this, since:
Quote from: DualnamesThe main problems of the old tune competition, which explained the lack of entries, were:
1) Unclear deadlines.

Current score:

#3Viola and Oboe by bicilotti8
#4Her number on my palm by Creamy8
#5Ogon's entry by Ogon12
#6Trouble in Paradise by xBRANEx3

The voting is going to work this way: You can give 3, 2 and 1 point respectively to different songs you choose. It also be nice to give an explanation behind your vote, but it's not necessary.
Also, you cannot vote for your own entry.

Let the voting commence!

UPDATE: The voting closes on 15th May.

Frank had gotten a date! Her name was Carina. He had bought a red rose and chocolate packed in a heart-shaped box for her and - he just couldn't wait to meet her!

As he headed to the date location he slipped on a banana and dropped the rose.

Lo and behold, the rose was beautiful. She was more beautiful than Carina. And she was inviting...

Frank got a date! Her name was Rose, actually, and he brought her chocolate. She didn't want the chocolate though. She wanted Frank only. She said she likes humans... Frank was elated!

The rest of the story is not appropriate for anyone, so I'm not gonna share it, but you can use your imagination!

I'd love to participate someday but how are we supposed to know about the competition if you open the topic half an hour before the beginning :confused:

Sorry, Creamy, the two times before this we announced it in the forums earlier, but this time it was just in IRC. I'll make sure to announce it in the forums next time as well, unless someone else organizes it.

Okay, so the voting works like this:
Each person, except gameboy and me, has to give 2 points to one of the participants and 1 point to another participant.
So since bicilotti voted 'for me' that means he gave me 2 points but also gave 1 point to gameboy.

current score:
gameboy 7
ibispi 5

nice work, gameboy!

And with that we conclude this hourgame.

The voting will start soon.

The hourgame competition:

Anyone can participate.

It lasts for an hour (and even longer if you don't manage to finish the game on time and your entry still counts)!

Make a game!

It doesn't matter if it sucks!

See you at the hourgame jam.  ;)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The hourgame starts in half an hour from now. 17:00 CET. When the theme will be announced by someone that's not me.
If anyone has any suggestions regarding the competition, feel free to post in this thread and the suggestions will be taken into consideration.
edit: so I've just learned these guys are infringing Chaosium's Masks of Nyarlathotep copyright and are boasting with it "-With a story 'stolen' from Chaosium". That's illegal, guys. This thread should be locked/deleted and their link too.
They wouldn't be the first to make a fan-game out of an existing property. To be fair, The Masks of Nyarlathotep is a tabletop roleplaying campaign, and using the story straight out could very well spoil the campaign. But it doesn't appear to use artwork from the tabletop release, nor Chaosium related logotypes or pictograms. I don't know if text has been lifted from within the books, if that is the case, it would be a much more damning case. As it stands, I find it rather harmless. I can agree that "with a story stolen from Chaosium" is in bad taste, but we don't condemn fan-projects offered for free right out'a the gate, do we?
:confused:
I respect your opinion, but I thought this went too far.
You know, I like AGS site and its community and I'm protective of it. I don't know about you, but when the owner of AGS archives gets a cease and desist letter from a publisher, I think it's a serious thing. Now, I studied law, but I'm still no lawyer, so I'm not sure exactly what kind of consequences could've emerged out of that, but I thought it was not a thing to just turn a blind eye to.
Now, whether it's wrong to make a fan-game out of a copyrighted fan work, inspired by tons of public domain works by Lovecraft, is something for a sort of philosophical discussion. The way I see it though, I like my AGS safe.
Hopefully the explanation of my opinion doesn't confuse (:confused:) you anymore.
Cheers.
my entry:
Perhaps you could host it on a site like DualNames did?
People might not want to download the music just to hear it...
But I really want to hear it!
hey Mandle,
sorry about that, it's supposed to be playable from dropbox without downloading but it might not work on all computers.
I also uploaded it on this site https://clyp.it/3bsc1ew2 you don't have to download it there either, hopefully that works  :=
O boy silly me I did the time difference wrong and added 5 hours instead of subtracting thinking this started at 8pm my time instead of 10am (laugh). Maybe next time, how often are these held? Anyway...
I'm not certain when the next hourgame will happen... maybe at the beginning of the next month? Maybe earlier.
Hopefully, next time you won't miss it :p
