Looks EXCELLENT! - what's really neat is that both the characters and the backgrounds have personality.Ã,  The style and mood of the game is very clear - and I love it!Ã,  8)

Yeah, fo' sure!
More action/adventure (with comedy elements) is definately the next direction I'll be taking.Ã,  I've actually been looking at various programs on the net (Swift 3d at the moment) into incorporating 3d action scenes into 2d games.

I think, as far as AGS games go, KQ2+ was pitched perfectly.  But then, that was a team effort, so I think it'd be pretty fun to work on a team game at some point. :)

Thanks guysÃ,  :)

Several people have been asking about a prequel.Ã,  I'm getting curious: what exactly would people like to see?Ã,  I've already got a few ideas about what one would be like (life pre-DNG, how they form, etc.), but I'm open to people's ideas

Oh, and stop by the announcements page in a couple weeks.Ã,  There's gonna be something you'll like...Ã,  ;)

Smiley Joe running out of bullets IS the second ending!Ã,  It was triggered when you beat SJ in Part I.Ã,  To see the first ending, just play part 4 (the game defaults to assuming he beat you)

Er, well the game was drawn in the lower res.  I guess 640x400 would be preferable to play in 'cause the scaling would look less blocky.  The only problem is that, because the game's "official" res was 320x200, then the credits were drawn for that resolution (if you get me)

By the way, I also put in a cheat into the game that activates the alternate ending.  I figured that, if anyone can't be bothered to go through the whole thing (the proper trigger is in Part 1), then they can use the cheat and go straight to Part 4.  If you guys want to know, then post back

Oh, and Mozesh: that profile pic is TOO COOL!  8)

Glad you guys like it!  Have you been playing with the speechpack?  I know it's a bit fiddly, what with extracting two files together and all, but it was the only way I could fit it onto Microtech  ::)

Seleceus: I had the credits bug appearing too, but only when playing it in 640x400.  The bug shouldn't happen if it's on 320x200.

Two games on the front page? Yeehah!Ã,  ;D

Well, I can't help being excited - getting this thing to upload properly has been a nightmare.

Well, never mind that - the game's here!Ã,  If you haven't seen the post on the Production forum, let me bring you up to speed:

Da New Guys are the latest wrestling team to hit the Wrestle Zone.Ã,  The Brain, Simon and Defender are three Brits trying to make it big, and were forced into an unlikely alliance upon arriving in the 'States.Ã,  And they're about to face their biggest challenge yet - the repossession of their home!

So far, so sitcom.Ã,  But that's the idea - I've always thought it'd be funny to see what wrestlers have to put up with outside the limelight, and the result is (I hope) a funny, enjoyable take on what we all used to thing was real when we were kids...

How about some screens?

Have run-ins with the boss!

Experience stardom first-hand

Features?Ã,  Features?Ã,  Oh, right:
-2 different endings
-3 playable characters (duh!)
-30 rooms (excluding cutscenes - and the title screen, that's a room, dammit!)
-Full speech (optional, but recommended)
-It's, uh, longer than Bear Story!

Phew! I'm just glad to get this game out - it took a bear long time!Ã,  Ã, :P
A word about the music: I didn't do any of it.Ã,  Some's more obviously ripped than others, but it's all credited for at the end.Ã,  Also, this game uses the AGS Creditz plug-in, courtesy of AJA.

So, what are you waiting for?Ã,  Start rivalries, fight matches, work out, and pay the rent:

There's no minigames, if that's what you're asking.Ã,  I decided against it for two reasons:
1) Purists may complain
2) It'd take a millenia to animateÃ,  ;)

Actually, the fight in the screenshot above leans more towards the fights in Monkey Island.Ã,  SHAMELESS, I knowÃ,  :), but it makes sense.Ã,  Matches in the WWE are always fixed so that the crowd's favourite in a match will win, so I decided to put that into the game.Ã,  That little meter at the bottom of the pic shows you who the crowd is siding with.

The last screen also mentions an action-scene at the end, but this is also traditional point-and-click.Ã,  It was pretty cool to come up with ways to have exiting stuff going on, without resorting to minigames.Ã,  The ending of Full Throttle did this excellently.

Step into the world of pro-wrestling as Da New Guys, three British underdogs trying to make it big in the U.S.

Set over four chapters spanning the course of 24 hours, help Simon, Defender, and The Brain overcome their biggest challenge yet - the reposession of their home!

In this quirky cartoon adventure, experinece the highs and lows of pro-wrestling: buff up in the gym, take on rivals in the ring, and work part time in dodgy fast-food chains while avoiding the landlady.

Features:
-3 playable characters
-30 playable rooms
-10 interactive NPCs
-Full voice acting
-Two different endings

Fight night!Ã,  Smiley Joe dares to take on the might of The Brain!

Defender finds part-time work more than a little tedious.

The Brain steps into the gym for the first time ever!

Oh no!Ã,  Don't look - it's the all-action explosive ending!

The new game by IceBox - coming soon.Ã,  ;)

UPDATE: Current status
The game is finished, and going through the final stages of bug testing.  The voice pack is currently underway, and so the game is very near to completion.  The voice pack will be a separate download.

Just checked out the demo - I really like the intro!Ã,  :)
It's VERY moody, especially with the old clock going.Ã,  What could be even cooler, though, is if you got rid of the dialogue just before the classroom stuff.Ã,  Just an idea, but it might be kinda neat if you leave it to the player to realise that the guy is blind.Ã,  I don't know, see what you think ;)

I would also do something about the cursor icons - maybe put an outline around them.Ã,  It's just that because everythings in black and white I can't make out what the cursor is when I'm pointing over something.Ã,  Again, just thoughts.Ã,  This game is looking extremely promising, and its a very original idea.Ã,  Good luck!

Thanks - good to know it appeals to those who haven't played Dizzy :)
Try http://www.yolkfolk.com/
It's got just about everything you could possibly want to know about those games (its maybe even a little TOO hardcore  :P, but its a laugh)

Ah, good point:
I used the zip program that comes with XP (not sure of it's name)
Not very knowledgable on file compression, but if your version of Winzip is old it could be having trouble unzipping newer files. :)
#117
Hang on, you say you can't unzip the game, but you're still able to play it? ???
Hmm, I probably missed something.  Try the download now, the update should be called "BearStory.zip".  I tried it myself and it all runs smoothly.  Is anyone else having trouble with the latest?
#118
Actually, it was because I WAY overcomplicated it all. :P
The script to call open the GUI is placed in the room script, while that to close it is in the global script (go figure :))

Doesn't matter, too much, I hope.  My next game shall surely have a smoother release!!
(Well, it'd better - it comes out next week!)

Oh, man, I'm such a noob! :o
Yeah, I tried that and things started to work.  Took a while, and after fuzzy logic combined with Dexter Math, I managed to get it right.  The inventory is now keyboard controlled - just like in the original dizzy games!

Well, almost.  I couldn't reserve 'Enter' for both pick up and drop, because AGS would open and close the inventory in the same cycle.  No biggie, only drop stuff is now done with the space bar.

New version up at the top -Phew!

Brisby - thanks for the comments, really inspring.

I've been working on v1.1, which should now be on the original post.Ã,  This adds quicksaving (F5/F7), improved jumping and one or two other small things (setup crashing for one!)

About the jumping: Yeah, I always knew there was something not quite right about it, but I wasn't able to place what it was.Ã,  Your description helped, though, and I've made a small alteration.Ã,  Now, you can press left/right just after jumping to jump sideways.Ã,  Let me know how it works out!

Couldn't do anything about replacing '4' with the enter key, though.Ã,  Having numbers control the inventory was more of a workaround than anything else.Ã,  I don't know if it's possible, but I couldn't get GUIs to respond to key pressing.

Anyway, the save/load function is in place.Ã,  I decided to use just one save slot to make things easier - hope it's enough!

Cheers for the interest, guys!
