Great game.
I also found all three Easter Eggs.
The first one caught me by surprise, totally unexpected...
The second one was pretty much out in the open.
The third one wasn't too hard to find.
Below is just when you can access them into the game...
If you want to know exact locations I can tell ya in another post, just ask...
Spoiler

The first one can be found fairly early into the game...
The second one is about early/middle part of the game.
The third is about near end.

Also I found a few "bugs"? Just incase this may spoil peoples games...
Spoiler
You can go back and get more tar which you don't need.
You can repeatedly make yellow feathers after you made the spell but only one new yellow feather ever gets created in your inventory.
(I think it also said you made acquired a new item in your inventory each time you did it.)
After making the sour cream you can get another unnecessary lemon.

I think that's all that I ran into.
And you were pretty sneaky in hiding some things... good job.

Thanks,

Thanks for a very strange... strange game ROTh.
Finally beat it after having to restart due to that oldman bug... when coming out of the Cube room.
When I did everything before passing the old man it was no trouble.
And yea I came across the multiple digging the same spot recieves more points bug hehe.
I could have ended the game with 200 something out of 77 but I had to restart because of that one bug.

After finally realizing one of the early spells... I gotta say...

That's it? lol.
Very clever interaction use though. I like.

Thanks for an interesting game :P.

Btw, the cat spell is not what you think it does at first... try something different with it.

I dunno, but he did. It's there.
Helped me to figure out the sucker. :P.
If you want to know how to beat the game I know how now :D.

The source is complete has almost everything including some stuff he didn't use/finish but it doesn't include the movies. Pity.

Anyways, the ending is funny, I think.

EDIT:

Just so you know... the source would need a lot of fixing/polish if you use it in AGSEdit 2.6.2 even though it compiles a few of the scripts don't work like they used to. The GUI has text labels all over it and so on.

I'd need to really understand how to use AGSEdit to figure it out.

Btw... this game as a number of spelling errors. lol.
His Frontpage
Here you can gain access to what's left of his site
But all the files are off site and they are most likely long gone since it says object not found.
You can see though what his ideas were for the other game he was working on.

Quote from: Last Entry from his websiteToday, I finally graduated as an Engineer. Yay for me!
On site related news, I published the source files from "exile", and added a new section under Literature.

Most likely he's being an engineer nowadays is my guess.

Everything that was on his site is still there though.. like for instance... He did some really sweet wallpaper...

http://www.otropunto.com/jrp/arts/wallpapers.php

Javascript is messed up it seems but the links to the images are...

http://www.otropunto.com/jrp/photo/wp_fight_1024.jpg
http://www.otropunto.com/jrp/photo/wp_spaceship_1024.jpg
http://www.otropunto.com/jrp/photo/wp_spaceshiprojo_1024.jpg

And I couldn't stop... as you can see His last post of the forums which deatils his moving in location of his files and for them to update where they are.

And I suppose you could say this is "officially" what his website is now.

Well, I'm no expert but I looked here => http://justadventure.com/IndependentDevs/JRP/files/
Which holds the Games by JRP...
Now from what I understand he also released the source to Exile which I think is quite awesome.
The dates on the files are not the dates of when he released them but once I have the game on my HD,
I'm on dial-up and downloading it, the timestamps on the files should be somewhere around September 02, 2002 in my mind.

Edit: Yep, I see that the internal timestamp of the install.exe is 9/01/2002. So this would be the 1.2 version.

True, I wasn't saying anything bad about DOS. I love DOS I wish it was still supported. Alas, it is not really. And I suppose in some ways ScummVM "might" be better but I've found that like for instance there is a bug somewhere in SCUMMVM that the inventory arrows don't show in Simon the Sorcerer 1 Dos Version. But they do work in DOSBox for instance. Just differences that I can point out.

In fact right now. Out of boredom, I dug up a DOS MOD player called CUBIC and playing some of my old MOD formats through it. It's quite nice :). I just find that ScummVM is OK. I just think DOSBox has already surpassed it.

And now with Frontends like D-Fend it is very simple to get a DOS game running through DOSBox if it DOSBox can run it.

I like SCUMMVM but I like DOSBox better since it can emulate more than SCUMM and if you really wanted to you could possibly get DOS versions of AGS games to run in DOSBox but I have not confirmed if this works or not. Personally why make a DOS version? It is pretty much wiped out.

Use DOSBox, overall its better than SCUMMVM but only because it doesn't hinder itself to emulate only a specific area of games.

And I'm refering to the CVS version of DOSBox which I hope will be released soon (I compile it for Win32 users on a weekly basis @ http://mypixels.dk/forums)

Yep did a quick search for an old AGS DOS game version. Here is were i got a couple.
http://home.swipnet.se/~w-29465/asylum/games.html tested Sam Monkey which used the old AGS 2.21 version.

It seems to work. I had to use a copy of CWSDPMI for it to work but it does run in DOSBox. Like the DOS port of ZSNES sorta works in DOSBox but crashes at random moments while using it. *shrugs*

Personally I have many of the different archiver tools because One of them will be smaller than another. Also, I look for newer and better compression archivers. Recently I picked up a fairly good archiver called www.winrk.com (WinRK) which for PDFs at least can decrease the size by 20%. For instance, I took a 15 mb PDF and it shrank to about 12 mbs. As a side note the PDF was originally a 44 mb monster which i stripped using a program called PDF Enhancer. Although I did test WinRK on this bloated monster it it shrank to about 15mbs.. heh.. now that's compression.

Basically I have WinRAR, WinZIP, 7-ZIP, WinRK, and WinACE as archiver Utilities. Each one has an advantage then another depending on what you're compressing. Also some support SFX Compression. WinRAR, WinZIP, 7-ZIP, and WinACE support them now... WinRK is working on it since he's fairly new on the scene.

AlsoÃ,  some of these support the creation of other archives like bzip2, tar, gz, zip. These tools I've seen that support that are 7-zip, and WinRK for now.Ã,  The guy of WinRK is basically working on what 7-Zip has become with I assumeÃ,  a completely different algorithym.  Also with a completely different GUI where 7-Zip is like a desktop explorer.

There are also other Archiving Tools that are commandline versions that work in WinXP which tend to have a better compression then GUIs. But I don't personally like using the commandline anymore unless I'm emulating MS-DOS with DOSBox to play an old game of mine.

So test what you get with a variety of Archivers and you may find one that works better.

Also there are Compact Utilities for .EXEs out like PE Compact (Student/Freeware) which basically compressions the data inside a EXE but this can be risky because sometimes the Compacting strips important data but PE Compact has a automatic (or you can turn it off in the settings) back up so that if the output from compressing your EXE, DLL, OCX *and I think a few others* becomes corrupt you have an automatic backup.

Gosh, the utilities these days.

Edit:

Here is a link to a basically a benchmark/test site for many of the Archivers out (keeps fairly updated too). www.maximumcompression.com
