Thanks for all this great feedback :) Appreciate it, really!

Czar- just working on a homepage for Ignac, i'll put up all related stuff there.. including the trailer :) Hm, maybe it would also be time to finally make a thread in "games in production" forum..

Azure- hey, nice to hear from you again! Sure thing about voices- they are great and i'm using them in game :) Hope you'll be willing to do some more when needed?

Squinky, must say i like your simple flat coloring best- no shadows.. nice choice of colors as well! It looks very stylish and would really suit that comic style :)

Airbrush (or soft) coloring can be very tricky and can quickly ruin your line work if not done right.. The same goes for pure black shading.. I actually think, that type of shading should not be used in colored comics (i know.. it's used a lot in cheap mainstream strips), as the contrast between color and pure black is too big and don't look that good.. it looks fab in black&white comics though..

Also Al_Ninio's edit looks great as well.. What i think really works, is that he didn't simply draw shadows, but made them in the same style as the rest of the line work (a bit sketchy with the use of lines).. cool!

Great coloring Andail..
Love the homepage too!Ã,  :)

As for sketch and copyright.. i do think Snarky and Dan have a point here. It is nice to credit all the authors of the piece.. Sure, you did *a lot* of work by coloring it, no doubt about that.. however, the idea, composition (both very important) and general mood are the work of another author, so.. it's up to you if you'll credit him in your portfolio, but i know i would :)

Thanks Scummbuddy and Steve! :)
I know i'm a bit sparse with infos lately, but really don't want to spoil the game too much.. was actually thinking about releasing gameplay demo some time ago, but figured it will be better to put out everything in one piece.. i hope you won't need to wait too long.. ;)

Ok, i guess it's time to post a bit more from game to somehow justify this thread (nope, no april fool this time):

Haha, this is just too funny! :)

Must agree here.. Roger in SQVI is a perfect example of bad character design.. very generic and boring to look at.
I don't see non shaded sprites as a shortcoming.. on contrary, they can be quite a challenge and make everything look more stylish and intersting.. *if* done right.
CMI (and Broken Sword too- if i remember correctly?) actually had non shaded sprites and with a few minor exceptions, they were perfect.

Lovely stuff! :) As all your work actually.. especially colors are great!
My only grip would be.. that it seems sometimes as if you'd rush to coloring even before you'd establish a good solid drawing underneath. It's a pitty, as that's the only reason your pics don't quite live up.
I know those are "just" doodles.. but good composition and character anatomy&posture are maybe even more important in that phase as there are no details that could "distract" the viewer from possible mistakes..
Anyway, great work otherwise.. Keep it up!

Hi guys! Uh, i'm rarely visiting forums lately, so i'm *really* sorry if i reply on some PM a bit late (i'm checking email regularly though :)).
My homepage.. heh, it's more "my wall of shame", really ;) It's up for almost 2 years and not only i didn't update it once.. it's still "under construction"! Damn.. I do have material ready to upload, i just need to design (draw graphics for) the missing pages. I hope i'll get to do that in the coming month.. as things easy up for me a bit.

As for Ignac 2 trailer.. it's still online, just not linked from my site.. You can find it here: http://maniac.adventuredevelopers.com/trailer.htm

Hope this helps and thanks for the support, really appreciate it! :)

More please? :)

Why exactly was Jayel's version canned ???
Ok, i like colors and shading on the new ones, however Jayel's character design and animation are *far* superior to what we saw in this thread so far.
Don't get me wrong, even new ones still look quite nice, however both, design and animation, look a bit amateurish compared to overal quality of backgrounds...

Here's a quick example how you can easily fix problems without much editing: the ear is actually in the right position (except it's a bit small), but his back-head is too wide.
Nice pic, btwÃ,  :)

This is getting better and better. Characters look fab on those backgrounds! Loominous's suggestion for higlights really nailed it too, so no critics from me. Keep it up.

You were 13 when you did this? Great!
Love pixel art too. Smashing work all around.

Btw, what's wrong with "copyright" thing? Internet is a tricky place and without even knowing it, work that you have posted on some forum/site might appear somewhere else (that doesn't necessarily mean it was stolen)... if nothing else, copyright is a signature that makes sure the author is known even when such "transitions" occur.
Think about it: why do you add copyright in your games? It's the same here.

Beautiful! Camera movement and music are perfect!
My only suggestion would be, to add a bit more details on the ground part of scroling background as it looked a bit empty even on the first watching. The tree is fine, but you could maybe add some bench, trash bin (you know, the ones you can find in parks), etc.

The second music is quite a bit different than the intro one, but i guess it will match the game's theme.

Anyway, you are off to a great start.

Hey, great to see you posting again Pessi!
Very nice illustration. Judging on previous winners (they were all quite cartoony) i think you are on the right track. Btw, i like the idea of black (or darker) outline for font.
