I really dont think you have to search for stuff that many times for it to show up in the suggestion box.

http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Web+Search/thread?tid=53fc4c143bcbb634&hl=en
The Google Suggestions are based on the popularity of search queries. The reason they appear is because ACTUAL users are typing that into Google, and the query has become quite popular.

For an example: "Living Nightmare Deluxe" which is the 5th popular game this week in AGS don't have any suggestion. I'm sure that there are people who searched it before, but the game is not in suggestions box. That means that you have to make many queries before get in to google suggestion box.

Another example not in google suggestions box: IWWHIIWWHITOMIROTPG: The Game!

I didn't point to to the position. I point to the fact that the query is in the suggestion box. And before you get into the suggestion box the users typed this MANY times, which is the indication for popularity.

Note: It's CosmoS Quest, not Cosmo Quest.

I love how you've masked this spam as some kind of general discussion on how google works

It's just an idea how AGS game authors can check their games popularity.

Presumably a phrase gets added to google even after only being searched once or twice.

I can't agree with that. Here is what I found for Google suggestions:
http://www.searchenginepromotionhelp.com/m/articles/search-engine-optimization/google-suggest.php
"Our algorithms use a wide range of information to predict the queries users are most likely to want to see. For example, Google Suggest uses data about the overall popularity of various searches to help rank the refinements it offers."

So I checked most of the AGS games. And the most popular AGS games have auto suggestions.

Hi all,

I wonder if this is indicator for popularity of a game (see screenshot):

I'm sorry if there is another thread for this.

I can share Cosmos Quest games but they are written on the old AGS platform version 2.72. The new Cosmos Quest IV is on the new AGS version.

it feels like a punishment; the game is punishing me for... playing it... for doing stuff the designers PUT THERE for me to do... it's like I've been thrown out of the garden of Eden without even being told not to eat the apple in the first place. Argh, I can't deal with that. I'm just not that much of a masochist...

The game is punishing you because you did something wrong. Sometimes the games are not just for fun! I believe people are creating games not just to entertain the gamers, but also to teach you something. Especially the younger players. The example with the apple is not accurate. What if you decide to burn the only bridge above the river. It will cause dead end, and will teach some young minds that it's not right.

I don't like RPG elements in adventures. But don't mind if there is a dead end in game. The challenge in "dead end" is to understand that its a dead end, to understand what you did wrong. And when you understand it, there is a solution for it called F7 - restore game.

So yeah, I nominate every Sierra game; just so they can remove the walking deads and the games can actually become... you know... fun.

I've never understand why the walking deaths, dead ends all Sierra's things are so annoying for the players... For me they make the game more challenging and more interesting.

No, I just think adding more colours to Gold Rush! isn't going to help anything, at that point Sierra had mastered their AGI art style and if someone's going to remake Gold Rush! (or pretty much any Sierra AGI / SCI game), I need a better reason than 16 colours not being enough.

There are plenty of games that could do with merely re-done graphics, so it's definitely not "The old ones are so pretty!", look at a lot of things from the 90s, stuff with colour reduced pre-rendered 3d, much more in need of a remake than Gold Rush!, arguably the best looking AGI game.

If we are talking about remakes, we should increase the resolution. If we increase the resolution, we should increase and the colors. I also  think that the game is the best looking AGI game, thats why I think it deserves to be remade.

Leave Gold Rush! the hell alone, it's so pretty.

Then "Leave the remakes! The old ones are so pretty!".
#192
I'd like to see "Gold Rush" by Sierra remake with better graphics.
Edit: I like the drawing style very much, but it needs more colors.

Woow, this is great! I'd love to see my games online! Can games be exported to XAGE with older versions of AGS or just with the latest (my games are created with AGS 2.72)? I hope soon the right click to be captured :)

@Harg:

I was always told: no matter how they talk about it, as long as they talk about it. Your game still gets lots of attention so see the positive side! It's a pity a great event like this has to end in a discussion like this.

I'm sorry for that Leon. Yes, it's pity. Just check my first posts on the subject and see that I was positive. I just put a sentence about that p...s award and my game. Then all started to post without seeing my positives about the ceremony.

CQ3 has only one voice act and also the game documentation is not that rich.
That sounds like it did have one voice and some documentation.

I have hundreds dialogs, and only 1 sentence with voice. Documentation... only 1 window help that tells the player how to save, how restore and e.t.c. CQ3 nomination was strange for me...

I think it's the epitome of stupidity to nominate a game, so you can see or expect that people will mock it for being there. It's just stupid. PLAIN STUPID.

Ok Dualnames, then tell me why it was nominated for the best voice acting and best documentation, when there no voice acting and no documentation?

CQ3 was nominated by people who enjoyed it, I'm sure, or at least appreciated those aspects it was nominated for. There aren't that many games with voice acting or that do something special with the documentation.

Cosmos Quest 3 don't have voice acting and don't have documentation.
#198
Guys, you can joke to each other as much you want. I can handle every joke if there wasn't that not pleasant arguing with all of you months ago. Mentioning my game and that p...s award was totally inappropriate. And who the hell nominated CQ3 for the awards? Or maybe the nomination of the game was joke - on purpose?
#199
QuoteThat would be so UNWELCOMING!!

Welcome! Take this p...s award for the worst game!

Is this welcoming?
#200
Hmmm, so the P31NS Award or P3N1S Award (I don't know which is correct) is an official award for the worst game!?! I didn't know that. For me this is a bad sense of humour...

QuoteAnd also the p3n1sh award served as a way to deter crap games and idiots from our community.
- Just don't nominate crab games and kick out the idiots with ban.
