QuoteAs much as I agree with you about the rest, what kind of an argument is that!?
At the age of 19, starting a family is much worse than watching animes all day. Because once you grow up, you can ditch animes easily.

Worse? Of course I agree that this is worse. What? People in medieveal times married even at earlier teen age.
The argument was to remind Mykayel that his teenage is about to end, and it actually won't with ninja boy cartoons filling his head. That I find this simply strange. And I think that most of the unjapanized world finds. The hype of something so boring and pointless. There's of course good anime around. I personally liked Animatrix series, and how they used Matrix universe to tell some sci-fi stories in inexpensive form or endless effects. Anime, that is.

"Once you grow up". Where I live, adulthood is reached at age of 18. This is where people (on official level) take you seriously, you can buy alcohol, drive a car, marry, join or start a political party, vote. I repeat, vote. And also, you're fully responsible of what you think and do. ie - you will go to a real prison if you commit a crime. World assumes you are serious individual with look and understanding on the world. That you are grown up. I don't really imagine prime minister discussing latest naruto episode during a lunch break in parliament. But by the law combined with 19-year olds' anime fandom, it's possible.

Well, and frightening.

As I said, the world of anime and cosplay puts term "nerd" into dimension for me unable to reach or understand.

Not that I'd hate Japanese culture or ninjas. For example, I find his avatar quite cool, playing a game or two of King of Fighters 2000 on a weekly basis.

I even don't think that my arguments are too important: the whole not-anime-fan world would say something same or even worse. I hope you're prepared for this, Mykayel.

All they DO is talk. Then, pointlessly stretched fight scene, with every super move being shown in extreme slow-mo and still images (with only part of background moving), and talk-fest all again. You really didn't get my point, did you? So what would be so interesting for them to say? Typical anime mumbo-jumbo? "I must kill him" "I am demon" "blah blah"
If it was hardporno hentai cartoons, I would understand, but tales of ninja boy?

It doesn't really matter if something's cut or not. Swearing? So that makes Naruto cool? Over-breasted shitfaced grandmas?
Soap opera watchable?

Come on. At your age, few of my friends already started a family.
#1243
I still think that watching Mexican and other Latin-American soap operas is still less boring than watching Japanese ones. At least there's some hot evil ladies there who swear to kill good hot lady character in every second dialogue or so. Here's what I saw, when I happened to see a segment of much-loved Naruto:

* Character 1 talks
* Character 2 talks
* Character 1 talks
* Long male character with long white hair and serious looks talks with eyes closed
* Stupid little boy character starts yelling (hell knows why)
* Long male says something again with eyes closed
* Stupid sound effect, the eyes of boy turn into balls (surprise?)
* Girl character hits boy
* Girl character yells at him

Repeat, repeat. The script was something like "we have to go" "we cannot go" "why can't we go" "don't be disrespectful". This went on for like 20 minutes or so, after that I quit.

This is purely, insanely idiotic. And, it's a SOAP OPERA.

Mykayel, try to grow some sense of criticism and watch Naruto again. You're 19-year old male, as your profile says?
Now, watching cartoons of animated boy all day speaks for itself.

But point was more oriented at cosplay: A short google for cosplay sites could really kill man's ability to reproduce... or get aroused ever again.

The only anime cartoon I've ever watched and actually liked was movie-length something called Princess Mononoke.

Confused?

This kicks some sparks out of word "confusion" and my previous statement of anime being nerdy:

I dug wiki for this and regret it now.

QuoteThe plot differed substantially in that Naruto was the son of the demon fox instead of being the container, and the story was placed in a more modern setting. This early version of Naruto already had the ability to transform into a sexy young woman - but when he did so, a fox tail sprouted.

Well...
No...
#1245
Still, anime and cosplay combined is level of nerdiness TOO high for even my brain to digest.
I thought that this is what 9-year old fat and ugly boys and girls do. And wonder why they have no friends.

Anyway, I have no clue what Naruto is (I only suppose that he's some kind of star of some anime soap opera - as much as I have encountered anime, it's all soap operas (talking, then talking, then talking with eyes closed) with rare fight scenes), and I will never want to know. It would have been better for me not to reply this thread, though. Especially twice.

But character of a cool and widely known AGS game combined with the ultimate geek universe, well, it made me do it.

Na...naruto?
Co..cosplay?

* heart attack! *
* drops dead! *

Jesus, the world is so lame nowadays.
Hey, how about showing your "cosplay image" to Yahtzee and ask what he thinks of it? >D

2007 sucked mostly hardcore. Atleast in Estonia, and in my life. But bright moments balance it well!
It was a good year in gaming though... much good things were released!

Much good and bad happened last year:
My top 6 - Bad

* Russian vandalist rebellion in Tallinn (also my hometown, our Capital) in April
* My personal life sinked to its lowest point :(
* I decided not to graduate this year yet

Good:
* I teamed up with Aussie and G to bring Henri to an end
* I discovered NeoAxis engine, the find of a year
* I remembered why I love demoscene SO much (link fixed, you GOTTA see this)

Being in 2008 for 2h 52 minutes now, I wish everyone happy new year!

General Discussion / Re: What's your game?
Sun 30/12/2007 15:14:40
It tends to be like that, yes.
There's simply a number of games you wipe dust from, install, have a week or month of playing, and uninstall.
To "discover" them again after few months.

Before my Steam account was banned, I played Counter-strike:Source almost every day, but trying to have some forbidden fun with a hack got me VAC banned and I'm not buying it again. Atleast, not until Valve lets price down a bit. A ban on account for cheating FOREVER is something I find extremely abusive. Also, it applied to all games registered under that account, so - hate Valve. Simply a look at my stats could prove that I wasn't using any hacks for actual gaming. Well, Steam decrypt/installation and need to have an internet connection to install a game is pretty aggressive by itsself.

Right now I reinstalled (god knows which time again) Hitman: Blood Money, and Act of War with expansion, but It's getting tiresome quickly. And Age of Empires 2 might be the oldest, never-uninstalled thing on my hard drive since I got the computer, but I rarely find enough time to have a skirmish: It's way too long game.

Team-based games like BF2 and CS:S frustrate me too much: it's impossible to get recruited to a clan (unless you make one yourself), and playing alone isn't neither fun or getting much out of the game.

I tried to like Unreal Tournament 3, but prefer original UT much more. UT3 gives me messed up vision and pain in the eyes: The way everything's coloured/shaded mixed with the speed of movement is something I find quite dangerous to health. Totally epilleptic!

Despite a number or replies to this thread, I still don't see a game that could be my next hobby. Let's wait...

General Discussion / What's your game?
Sun 30/12/2007 11:51:42
I mean, most of gamers have this one or two games they occasionally play. New games come and go, but this one, like a ritual, is played on daily basis. Usually multiplayer one.
I'm getting bored of my usual and I'm looking for new long-lasting addictions...

For last few years, I was playing Battlefield 2, then some mods for it, and hoped to switch to Team Fortress 2 now. Which failed, since TF2, despite good looks and interesting concept, proved to be total bulls**t in my opinion. I've tried this and that, but found nothing that could hook me for longer period.

So, what's your game? Please don't say WoW.

QuoteBut one ought to realize that since stuff happens all the time, some of it is bound to seem really really implausible. How many times have you been loading pallets with nothing like this happening? How many people are doing the same right now? Alright then.

Nah. Really strange point in this story is that warehouse is rather large, maybe quarter of a football stadium or so. But boxes fell exactly where I left my lifter. Okay, this could happen.

But why was I walking past my lifter (accident spot)? I wasn't even going to work anymore, I was heading for exit. There's about many other, as short paths I could choose. And I still somehow took the dangerous one. If there's God/luck, it PUT me there, just to show how close I was from head trauma if I wouldn't decide to leave. Fate decided those lucky centimetres, not what happened... I could go other way, choose another exit, go to my boss (who was eating at the moment) and say I'm still leaving, anything...

What I'm trying to say is that the accident would have happened anyway. But me witnessing it, and hair-thickness-close, that's a miracle of some kind. Of all logical options I had before just walking this path, this one was most unlikely for me to pick.

The driver that tripped supplies is a complete moron, he constantly breaks something or rams electrical lifter into wall, or gets flat tire on the road, and always something bad happens to him. Whole shift curses him... Karma? His one sucks hardcore. Like with this fat guy on "Lost". Seriously!

At the happening moment, I didn't care. I looked over my shoulder, and walked away, I was feeling too shitty to even care. But later in home, thinking about it again, well, shudders.

But after this weird incident, am I superstitious? A bit really maybe.

QuoteNow that I think about it, I don't think I cut myself to die really. It was more of a stress relief method. Whenever I felt over-stressed (like to the point you want to do more than scream) I'd cut myself and afterwards I'd feel calmer.

This sounds SO emo. I hope you've discovered more reasonable and sensible stress relief methods by now.
Then again, not far away from your mental state - I guess - are people who cut others to relieve their feelings.
Huh.

Weird. Few days ago I got sick, and so dizzy that I decided to leave work in the middle of the shift. Even though my boss thought I'm having a after-Christmas hangover or I'm just lazy and told me to shut up and get back to work. I hesitated, but still decided to go home. I was feeling THAT bad.

I work at vegetable/fruit warehouse. During Christmas, which is always busy fruit season, I help out with "dirty" work in warehouse, which means preparing orders for stores - loading and weighing fruit.

Walking towards the storeroom door, a truck driver was currently loading some supplies onto truck nearby.

Well, and just as I walked past him lifting the fully loaded pallet, I mean, it was huge, about 2 meters high, tripped over towards me, with about 10kg heavy boxes full of paprika falling down. Right onto hydraulic lifter I used this night.

It all missed me by few centimeters. If I would listen to my boss and decided to continue my work instead of going home, I would probably directly at lifter, loading a pallet onto it. Which means I would end up in hospital with severe head trauma. Nice addition to extremely sick and weak feeling I had that night.

Was it luck?
Sometimes, when I doubt something, this God/luck entity proves me right just after I've finally made up my mind.
A nice thing to remind me to always trust my intuition.

But vertigoaddict, pull yourself together!

First, make sure that you won't try suicide again. If your God/luck is like mine, 23 failed attempts should speak for themselves: thou shalt not kill yourself.

Second, thou shalt not hit a woman. I have a year younger sister and when we were little, we were fighting all the time, mostly for the love of parents. I never went WWF on her though, this is far too horrible.

Third, tales of self-pleasing really really isn't something to share on AGSBoards. Pray? Sounds pretty much like you've grown up in fairly religious environment, I wouldn't even imagine something like this. Sounds really stupid.

And for Fourth, watch where you buy eggs.

I don't believe that God would be too happy for you putting your hands together in a prayer, those hands you just used to-- well... lol

QuoteNext: Yoda vs. Furby
Jesus.
This sounds like: nerds, step up!

If there wasn't google image search, I wouldn't even know who Yoda is.
Some people here have never watched a single movie of Star Wars and are proud of it.
And furby? Idiotic speaking toy?

MSPaint game is really dead.

Your work - especially models - is nice, but overall feeling lacks style. Or maybe simply isn't my taste.

Looking at other artist portfolios, they're minimalistic, bright, and feature always some extremely simple and crazy ideas. Yours is minimalistic, simple, but not bright at all.

If you look at your images, they're all dark (with exception of duck screenie). This gives somewhat a feeling that I'm visiting a homepage of a horror film or game, not portfolio. The human face bit adds alot to it.

I think it would be cool if someone wrote a book on debunking all the superpowers like Increator did.

I believe that this is the guy you should be looking for:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakov_I._Perelman

I recall reading some of his books when I was a kid, and he makes physics really interesting, yet extremely simple.
His one of favourite theme seems to be scientific approach at Jules Verne's works, all those travelling in a cannonball and slowing down time stories. He tries to compare science to those crazy stories and most of times, proves Verne wrong.
Look at last paragraph in wiki entry to see what I mean.

Thinking about it... **shudders** picture is becoming clear...!

I see time as a description of changing positions of of three-dimensional things (atoms, photons, etcetera) in three-dimensional space.

Time describes what happened to all atoms in space.

In other words, time is there only when there is movement. A CHANGE in 3D space. Something to observe.
If no atom, energy, anything, anything would move never ever, we wouldn't have time. Atleast, not sensible one.
Or theoretically, maybe no time at all. How can you describe what happened? Take something abstract, like number one. And tell me what happened to number one in hundred years... nothing. It doesn't have its own time. So maybe nothing would have time.

Therefore, I believe that time cannot be shorter than it takes for ONE, the last moving thing to relocate in space.
This makes time a LOG. A log where every single three-dimensional entities movement is logged.

Isn't that how we feel it? "I breathed, it took time", "earth made its journey across sun, it was a year", "It got darker, day is ending", "My body got another nerve impulse, therefore there must be time and I'm alive" etc?

If time was readable, it would be like
"Atom of your index finger nail number 13291542 changed it's z coordinate by 0,0001 nanometer"?
Then again, all dimensions are infinite. We use only measurable and sensible units. But matter moves in WAY smaller scale.

...Eh, or something? If ALL movement would stop, just one, tiny bit of energy or one atom would move, time had one variable to log and would be still measurable, thus exist. Actually, people try log time, it's called memory and in wider scale, history.

Thinking about this further, if there's FATE, fate should mean that time isn't simply a log, but a program. I mean, whole log and movement is preprogrammed. Or simply a finished log of movements not happened yet.

What's a dimension? A change in space. This is here and this is here. Something to measure and sense.
If time was dimension I guess it would be some kind of uberdimension, a total of previous three.

Aw. Did I just develop a theory, caught up with some other great thinker/physics for kids book or got miserably lost?

If all the atoms in the air around you stopped moving they would thus be at absolute zero temperature and you'd freeze to death. ;)

No? Without atom movement your body won't LOSE heat, neither..? Makes somewhat sense to me...

P.S/offtopic

Does anyone know internet resources (not too difficult) to explore ideas like that? I'm really interested in nerves, and
specifically - nerve transfer. When stitching back someone's broken finger, surgeons - as much I've heard - also reconnect nerves. Is it even theoretically possible that we join nerves of TWO people, and make a connection? So I'd hammer my toe and guy next to me screams, or something? :D

Also, is size infinite? How much can we shrink something down, until it physically dissappears? I think that forever...
#1258
Quote...because I'm allowing myself to believe a person can speed up his own time.

Isn't it believed that time relative to its observer?
How can we even know if your second is same as mine? Maybe your second lasts three of mine?
I don't mean physical time, but maybe the speed of brain and nerve processing? All people can run at about same speed and movement speed for humans is more or less the same, but not how we sense time.

We all know that human-relative time is a variable, playing a computer game for a hour feels heavily shorter than simply sitting and watching at the clock for same time... and when you're tired, 5 hours of sleep feel shorter than 5 seconds of being awake!  Maybe some of people live most of their life in "clock watching" mode and others in "game playing" mode, so 80 years of lifetime might actually feel ten times shorter for second person.

We cannot prove or measure it yet, anyway.
I believe that there's WAY too much things people cannot compare.

Ooh, I like BT's songs, he's one of greatest shapers of modern music. Like, he could produce total crap and still do it damn good and make you hum along.
And has hell of a voice, made for vocoder.

But being so famous as he is, there could be ransom demand soon.
Anyway,  :(

Yeah. Cartoony graphics can be divided into two also: Cartoony shading and cartoony - er, shapes, geometry? Maybe even third subsection: cartoony animation?
