Actually, I think that making forums that are... pointless - is pointless thing to do.

If you can make a homepage, and a cool one, which has high visitor count, a "shoutbox" where people could leave few lines about what they like or not or anything else like that, would beÃ,  enough to get some feedback.

Homepage with high visitor count means usually a place where people could get something, such as humor, comics, jokes, tutorials, help, porn, software, etc. so you have to offer visitors something first to make them want to visit.

Page must be updated frequently too, otherwise visitors just suck it dry of what they need and never come back.

Making and managing a forum is a big operation and without proper community, it's just a waste of time.

I hope this was constructive enough and not too negative.
Amen.

This happens... when you make a mistake, try to save a room and AGS suggests you to fix the script. then it goes to the room's whole script, not to particular object/hotspot's one.

And this is where all hotspot/object scripts are, in extra brackets to separate each other, which you may accidentally erase and get this otherwise strange looking error.
Right?

You're obiviously joking, lgm, but -- maybe really!
There's lots of tech problems at the forums lately.

* Cartoony style, which you're going for, as it seems - feels almost right.
* JPG compression proves its worth only with photos, for posting BG-s use GIF or PNG instead.
* if your bg is that blurry even without JPG compression, try to clean up lines alot.
* dg is right. This light and some other places (rightmost door handle, white box things at the foreground) seem a bit rushed.
* Improvement - start this with trying out different colors. Color choice is somewhat holding bg's beauty back right now, I think that changing colors and finding best palette would make everything alot better. Floor color irritates most right now, i think.
* Try to contrast out more important and interactable things, they seem all like one flowing mass right now - or is it just because of blurryness? You decide.

I'd love to see characters for this game. As I said - cartooniness(sp?) is very fine, not everyone could get this to feel right.

Pic taken few days ago...

...because today rains as hell, though summer lasts only three months and people spend 9 months waiting for it.

Go west as much as possible, there's a souvenir shop somewhere.

Oh.
Didn't you notice additional notes from game page?

QuoteCD-rip version (including everything except speech); must be installed in C:\HOLMES and properties of file HOLMES2.SAV changed - by right-clicking in Windows to see properties of file and unclick "read only" attribute.

QuoteWhat do you guys draw these with?

MS-Paint.

Cool indeed!
Graphics is better too.
Found only 2 problems -

* inventory items, while being large images - don't have interaction dot or crosshair - so it's difficult to click precisely. I hope to see it fixed in third game.

* "notes" won't update sometimes. I'm in the desert while notes still  tell me to find moonshine. So they're almost unneccesary. They should update after every hint, it happens that you click away text where's useful hint like I did when talked to knife thrower. It was impossible to talk again to get same hint. Some other places too like that, hints should go to "notes".

* Shadows are too strong, try to soften them.
* Sky is too non-gradient too, soften this.
* I made a tutorial about wood texturing, maybe it'll help - unless you're using MSPaint
* halfway of the work is done, what you need is to texture everything now and maybe add some more details to big plain area ta the bottom

I like the idea! Drawing has turned out pretty good aswell.
But just saying this is wasting space in critics lounge. so...

- Eye holes in skull are usually bigger than eyes itsself.
- Skull needs a bit more darker gray to shade it out better.
- Skull looks a bit too flat at the top. Add a pixelwide line onto top of the skull to correct it.
- Walkcycle is absolutely okay. Maybe add driping blood to it? Just an idea.
- Another way to improve the walkcycle is to add a shadow of the hand onto pants while it moves over them.
- Work with the talk-view. Human beings usually lower the jaw to open the mouth, instead of moving whole head and keeping jaw still.

Lazy again...Ã,  :P
A futuristic cop with built-in night vision, speed measure system, satellite communications, internet and targeting system plus Internet to find any speeders, shoot precisely all bastards, make sure of any stolen vehicles and watch porn on duty.

Whoa, excactly 64 colors and I even didn't count.

Hm. I'll sign up!

InCreator - character/bg art, random
But I'll skip music and walkcycles (weak).

Go for Darth's edit or even better - try to learn from it. If we had an artists awards, I'd nominate Darth to "Colorer of the year".
Your style include too much super-bright orange and yellow tones and after awhile, it makes eyes hurt.

Video camera? **takes hit in weak spot
I don't have a video camera, though I'd really liked to have one  :'(

I used my Olympus X-310 digital photocamera, It's able to make 320x240-resolution short video clips. And lots of Adobe Premiere on the crap to give it a look.
#2657
They actually ARE good. Only suggestion maybe would be to use more shading on face (with the color that's on his neck on last picture) and maybe on pants, it's shading looks somewhat random and cautious.
It also may be that two colors on shirt are too contrasty, you decide.

It is stupid, of course. Because it meant to be.

Actually, thing isn't about contents of movie but me trying out video editing and effects production. We just had to film something to have something to edit.

I'm thinking about making an intro for my upcoming game and maybe use 3ds max for extra effects.

Alternative idea is just use photos, some filters and text to make comic-like intro, like there were in Max Payne.
Making 3-minutes movie took 4 hours, if not more!

It's too big work.

I tried too...

...but this is probably too different for you... the style and tech, I mean. It's pretty dark too.

QuoteBye bye, maybe you can try out www.adventuremaker.com or www.sludge.com. They're FAR better than AGS, I hope you use them and kick ags's ass!

Right, Vel.
Now why don't you click onto your link to Sludge by yourself?

This is funny as hell. Maybe AGS should have slogan like that on main page too. And the picture.
