Hm. Maybe not showing the meter anywhere at all! Player would be just surprised that game is unexpectably different each time?
Storyline? Depressive. Depressive is good. I kinda enjoy deep, dark games, LucasArtsey humor in 3/4 of games gets old quite a while.
Wish you luck.

Yes, maybe really. But I really don't think that heaven's doors will be closed because I pirated few programs. And I don't care much, neither even if they will. We live only once. Why make it difficult? After all, I'm a single, worthless human being with low morale and low intelligence.
#2803
QuoteWhich is majorly the reason I quit pirating.
...And why I continue pirating. So I won't have to say "Sorry, but I have no idea what Maya or 3ds Max is, because had no cash to get them. Please employ me so I could get paid for not knowing yet and buy them when I'm paid."
Of course, I'll be 3d modeller in any game company with lines like that in five seconds. Oh yeah.

In matter fact, due my small HD (and wallet), there have been days where AGS in *only* legal piece of software on my CPU.
Arr!

Quotewhen you're fighting a war to claim the godamn hearts and minds, you cannot torture people.
Of course! Otherwise, you are as low as the enemy you claimed to be. Even lower, you're a liar, too, so you deserve double punishment.

Of course, soliders went through hell on earth to capture POWs and they may feel really angry, scared and everything, but violence against unarmed people is something that they went to finish, not continue. This is not a prize they earned and can enjoy now.
Maybe, media does something useful too. But It could be more useful, if media could prevent all of this, instead of getting front page material.

Oh, and the best is still coming: There isn't just Iraq. There's lot's of "iraq's" and "insanity" groups out there.
People like these suicide bombers, born to die.
Those who cannot be made afraid by ANY bombings, and
who's violence can be only FEED with violence from enemies.
No country could fight them all. It's very stupid be make yourself target of everyone else who is just seeking for a smallest excuse to kill you. Somehow, I think that Americans won't have a good sleep for few next centuries... And this really sucks. I'm not an american, far away from there, but they are still human beings, just like me. So I feel sorry for them. And for Iraqis, too.

If, let's say - my neighbor decides that my father is a bad man and comes and kills him, wonder what? I'd castrate him with kitchen knife and I really don't think I'd feel sorry about it! Would you?

Maybe I sound stupid and like just woken up,  but it seems that media is having rough time to separate bunch of fools to the sides of devils and angels.

I must say, I would rather a world full of Americans than a world full of Iraqis.
Oh jesus. Right. Let's choose between stupid and stupid.
Either way, we have chosen "stupid".

Revenge, somehow, can be always explained better than the reason that led to it. Yet, cutting off heads cannot be explained in any way. If we'd take off name tags, such as "Americans" and "Israelis", opinions would be more fair, I guess. One family decides that another family's father is a bad man. Whole family takes guns and goes to other family's yard to kill him and ransack the house. And they're damn surprised when other family fights back.

What the hell are Americans doing in Iraq, anyway? They live at the other side of the globe! Want to help? Send food and first aid! Fund schools! hospitals!
Donate stuff.

"I do not like Iraqi lifestyle, so let's go and kill some of them and show the light through darkness"
What's this? A crusade?

If they had problems with one particular bad man, what are intelligence and secret service people for? Taking someone out without bombarding whole cities cannot be that difficult. Especially for such rich country. And it comes cheaper. And if it was not about one man, game is fair.
Just... why are people playing so deadly games?

Damn, if I could, I'd pack my bags and take off to another solar system. No sense in this universe.

Now, when being a complete n00b in 3D-modelling, 90% of tutorials will just make you dizzy. Start with something simpler: (Insta-tutorial coming next:)

1. Create a box
2. Apply "edit mesh" modifier (or convert it into an editable mesh)
3. Figure out how to get into polygon sublevel selection
4. Select one side of the box
5. Start entering nubers into "extrude" field
6. select different polygon
7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until you manage to make something that looks like a house

Tada! You have used box modelling and made something that can be named on this planet. This is where learning starts. Next, Go to vertex sublevel and play with those nice blue dots too. Then add an omnilight to the scene and start playing around with things. Soon, you're ready to do some tutorials.

This wasn't especially written to Yufster/Cale, but to all guys that fell here and are a bit interested too.

BTW,
QuoteBut if you could murder someone and not be punished, would you do it? Somehow I doubt you would.
I would...

Now, why in the hell sould Patousek (Nickname sounds definetly chzech to me) want to remake MI1? Isn't it quite good without any 3D gfx? Wouldn't LucasArts' hunt him down in a deep, black forest after releasing such thing?
Isn't MI1's main beauty in being super playable and fun game even in the age of gigahertzes and three axis in every computer game?
But If I'd work in some soft company, I'd doubt that using AGS would be any problem to me. And I'd probably wouldn't need to ask someone to help.
This all sounds strange.

So, in this you're a martian and on earth. This sounds like helluva good trick to make a game where action goes on our boring planet but player isn't one of the stupid earthlings. I like it! make some screens already!
#2810
Completed it too!
Hm. How it happens for you to use only bright colors? Have you studied art/color composition somewhere or what? I looks so good.
Really, Tutorial would be nice. And a sequel.

You're weird. And too aggressive.
What's so difficult here? Make a room. Insert object there. There's special button and menu item for objects. When used "ObjectOff" command somewhere, object disappears, so player can't use, look, speak or see that anymore. ObjectOn turns it on again.

Door was an object in that room and with Objectoff command, it stopped to be drawn at the screen and blocking roger to walk into darkness that was behind door object.

People here are not paid to help you. So be polite.

And - learn to use scripts. Things will me much faster and - believe or not - easier this way!
Instead of scrolling through loads of options, isn't it easier just to write RunDialog(0);?

I also find the source of problem - Alt-X'ing game out before it manages to completely load and show first screen (room).

Advanced Technical Forum / AGS went mad!
Sun 09/05/2004 01:49:46
Well, I ran AGS 2.61 RC1 on Windows XP.
First times, everything was okay. Then, something very weird happened. Rooms didn't show up! Just as I started newly compiled game, music started playing but room remained just black. Like there's no fadein. I tried different games, several transition modes and just waiting (loading time bug maybe?) but no, nothing. Alt-X worked as it should. Then I pressed random key on keyboard. This is what happened after few reboots and retrying.

---------------------------
Illegal exception
---------------------------
An exception 0xC0000005 occured in ACWIN.EXE at EIP = 0x77F52CD2 ; program pointer is +379, ACI version 2.61.741, gtags (0,0)

AGS cannot continue, this exception was fatal. Please note down the numbers above, remember what you were doing at the time and notify CJ on the Tech forum.

What's wrong? I have freshly defragmented HD with 7GB of free space, Dxdiag shows every test okay, acceleration working normally both on sound/display I never had problems with AGS before.

edit: NONE of AGS games is showing anything! Tried with some other AGS games, such as Framed!, Ace Quest and No-Action Jackson. They're (obiviously) compiled with different versions of AGS so It can't be just because 2.61 RC1. Can anyone help?

edit 2: Okay, It seems like some other windows-based games won't start too. I'm downloading new Nvidia drivers (for my 16MB Riva TNT2) and maybe install DirectX again. But still It'll be useful to know what AGS said. Or get some idea what did cause this.
edit 3: After reinstalling DX9.0, got rid of problem.

Farsight, you can save with ArtGem, just find version 1.2 somewhere! Newer ones have nag screens and saving disabled. By playing a little with computer date you also can increase expiration period length, like for 10 years :D

Supergood. Found a little bug though:

Just finished library raid, which was about to read all Tom Clancy's books there. Succeeded. Though getting tooÃ,  repetitive, this guy still knows how to write a believeable story.
Dune books are again something wonderful. It's really amazing how someone could make up a BELIEVEABLE story on far future, and in 60's, where technology and science was not something it is in present day. Many other books, written in 70' and 80's fail miserably there. And movies too. Like movie starts with sentence "in 2010" and shows some crappy room-wide boxes with little lights, which are spposed to be computers of this age...
Sherlock Holmes' books by A.C.Doyle are highly recommended literature for every adventure gamerist too.

General Discussion / Re: Stupid Forum Quotes

I remember the case "Marcus versus CJ's AGS Christmas Joke" which turned out maybe the funniest thread in AGS Forums history. Well, DGMacPhee settled problem down with simple diagnosis on Marcus' problem:

QuoteI'm going to be as tactful and mature as I possibly can.

GET FUCKED, MARCUS!!

And - It's a great source for more stupid quotes. Or funny ones.

QuoteI do not think that your method of applying texture is very effective here, I can see that you just used layers and cropped the texture to the size of the object...

*ahem*
All of Remco's textures, in past and future pics are absolutely handmade. No photo(shopping) here. Thanks. My word on it.
But yes, this is a bit wrong.
