General Discussion / Re:TXT-style spelling

QuoteNo, the Squad only goes after native English speakers who are too lazy to write properly.
In that case, even castration squad would be fine with me.

Hm. FAQ is very clear and explaining. But I think there's one thing missing: "How do I ask for help and where".

Like, people are still posting into tech forum to ask how to do this or that in some game...
And Beginners tech is at the moment a place to get yourself a free storyline for sci-fi game.
There could be some stuff in FAQ which explains how to ask for help, how to explain the problem, provide a problematic script if needed and so on. So far, many questions are like "I want to make Gabriel Knight 3! Where do I click?" and yeah, go and answer that....

IMO, New look of site could even have ANOTHER topic, It's just so good. I love it. Especially some new stuff such as news and AGSers map.

Hm. I think that this picture is just simply lame. Not because you ripped it, but because It's far too boring.

I'd suggest a humorous element, such as put crosses from uncareful drivers around, or add a cat onto road who got drived over or just a tree which looks like It's been crashed into. Or all of them.
At the moment, there's very little of what you did, so you could rip the basic picture again to fix the overall quality and redo it, because it looks like someone got mad with using extrude filter. Or - you could remove these bright double lines from things manually (which isn't that hard at all).
It will be alot better at the moment when there's no trace of antialiasing anymore.

Hmm....

But I wasn't able to produce any rocks or seaweed which looked natural enough to fit this beach.
There's some other things I plan to put there, such as seagulls, flag and sailboat maybe, but they will be animated objects, not as a part of background.

Super entries! :o Especially Ben's one.

Well, in his example, Farlander *changed* a letter, not *missed* it.
#2869
Does missing a letter counts as "typo"?

Privateer Puddin's first entry is the best, IMO!

A tie, a suit and not so strong shading color.
and you'll have PERFECT lawyer!!!!

Well, priest is about same...
I'd add wrinkles to his clothes using shade color and change a shading direction a bit.

Since water is not supposed to reach this sand, I'm still thinking about seaweed and shells. But added a boat, shadows and clouds. More suggestions?

edit: Some odd power deleted images from my webspace, so I posted update to another server. It's pretty much ready now, but I still can't figure out what to do with large area of sand in the center.

Here it is. It's supposed to be a docks area.
image removed, see below for update

Problem is - I don't know what else to add to make picture detailed. Some C&C would be helpful, too.

Shadows are planned already, maybe clouds and sun too.

Yes, storng recoil is needed.
Then, It's hard to believe that gun like that produces so little flame. It's not a MP5! (Get some tips from my avatar)
Empty clips: They fall out weird. I think there should be some variation and they should fly out with higher speed. And flame should light gun a little.
Apart from this, looks ok.

Hm. Linking cam to biped isn't good idea. How about creating a single line, making biped walk on that line and make parrallel line (to the height cam must be) for camera plus using path constraint?

Rotating banners in forums is good. If it doesn't work, there's another idea:
On games page we have already a thing called "Pick of the month". Think...
#2876
Hm. I just wonder if perspective problems could be solved by using a camera instead of perspective viewport, mess a little with camera lens size and turn on "ortographic projection"? But I'm not sure about that. And/Or assign path for biped and camera, so they move at the same time and same speed?

Second one! Second one!
First just makes my eyes hurt. Too bright! Too nervous!
Second has lots of personality, or just... just starts interest. I like it!
Maybe you should blur the background a bit on second (not the text!), motion blur may make text more clearly visible and give cash & gun more "ambience".

Or just color the menu text, like - make nice outlines to letters.

aw. my english language is zero today. Hope you understood  :-X

Yea, LostTraveler, I tried to figure out how such thing could work some time ago already. Theoretical version is here.

Though about light source to give shadow needed opacity/angle, too.
But without angle, you can do such shadows right now, or you could draw shadows by yourself with needed angle. Well, that's a lot of scripting.

Hm. Not bad for a start.
Do you use 3ds Max? Seems so... very well done rooms.

You wanted suggestions? Here...
* Do you use Bipeds? If not, I suggest you to do so.
The way mesh (flesh) moves around bones isn't very good, start from there.
* Make bones fatter! (I imagine how weird it sounds for people not familiar with 3d-modelling ;))
* Don't use standard cursors.
* Font, yes. Change it to something more "patient". And less bold.
* Try to experiment with Anti-glide mode (option in AGS), so your character won't slide on the ground. If it doesn't help, try to add or remove frames from walking animation.
* Render your characters again, but without antialiasing, this'll improve the way they look and remove grey pixels around figures.
* Fix all bugs found by other guys here
* Don't take these points as critics but as a suggestions to make your game even better. And most important...
* Don't stop this project. This game will be awsome when completed!
