yeah-yeah. hell with ya.
I'll rather stick to my ignorant attitude and not try it.

Problem about LSL from 5 to 7 was that it became stupid cartoon... I prefer first two parts, especially AGI-one. It was a game not meant to kids, and lack of gfx helped player to imagine hs own Larry... thus Larry 7 was already too childish...
Somehow, 6th part was pretty serious.
I think that it's about what *i* loved about Larry -- semi-grownup jokes with *reasonable* amount of stupidity. There was none of these in later sequels!
Just look at the picture in previous post - whatthef*ckisthat?! A freakin' Disney character!!!! >:(

I think that pretty cool way to do cutscenes is like they did them in many Nintendo (NES) games, where half-screen-size pictures of characters move left and right and talk.

Something like it was in games, such as Ninja Gaiden, Samurai Pizza Cats, Colgo13 and other.

Wait a sec... you're saying that you did 7 screens in a month? And you actually need to do some more? You have something to do more?

Well, I'm able to do mediocre screen in 2-3 hours - but
I usually don't have anything to draw! After doing room outlines, all I get is totally empty mind! so, no-save and close program and wait for more InCpiraton...   :(

Maybe we could do some bio-exchange so you'll get my speed & skill and I'll get your ideas...uh, sorry, wrong century...or planet, perhaps?

3D? Yeah, I guess so too. People ain't buying anything that's not made of crappy polygons at present day.

Anyway, Larry's dead. And last time we saw him was in LSL6: Shape up or Slip out!
And yes, I know there was seventh part, but I consider that as worst one in whole series, seventh part should have name "AniLarry" or "LSL7: Trapped into cartoon".

Hello? There's dozens of games like this... and may of them are quite popular, like Rob Blanc series or Space Quest itsself! Just remember that making a game about future/space gives you unlimited amount of fantasy you can use - so don't cross this limit ;) or your game would be just stupid and not diehard sci-fi.

Just... welcome to the club.

Whoa! With automated outlining, idea of a font editor is absolutely useless. Good work!
btw, is there any way to correct TTF font in low-res
games? Most fonts below size of 12 are unreadable
and don't look good. 640x480 looks much better.
Is the problem in AGS importing or is it just a thing that cannot be fixed?

And -- when importing a font, name of the font has to be typed in instead of clicking on the file name. This could be fixed too, if possible.

I'm in.
At the first sight, I thought you're asking for co-makers. But players? ok.

Uh, Mittens thing sounds fun.
I'd join but I have absolutely no finance for any trips, and living in Estonia, one of the eastmost countries in northern Europe doesn't make things any easier. After all, getting a visa to USA, for example means a lot of pain and cash, and I probably should take a boat to Finland,
because US Embassy in Estonia deals only with smaller things (what they could be, I wonder? Espionage and such?) and getting on a plane means another trip over Western Sea, beacuse planes to that far, take off in Finland.
Maybe our recent uniting to European Union makes things easier, but It's too recent, no big changes were made yet. And most Americans still think that we're communists and still USSR, so in their big fear'o' terrorists, getting a visa is much more difficult than making an adventure game... :(

Auto-outlining is great. Wish you luck, CJ. I feel a bit sorry that I'm not very good at programming in any other environments than Basic, otherwise I'd put a great effort in implementing my and other people's ideas so your todo list could be shorter. :(

Quote(You wouldn't just be able to set a colour for text for different characters if they had colour info in the font)

Why? Is that a problem no paint program can't handle yet? I imagine that basic gradient could be black-to-white and AGS just makes right color by multiplying process - just as PhotoShop or any other pro paint program does.

Oh deem. Excactly how many games are on this site? How many demos have been released? How much test-playing (which IS actually playing) does a creation of a one adventure game include? Did they count us?  >:( I don't think so. It's more based on sales or something and that's true, shops are empty if it comes to adventure games... (but who the hell BUYS anything, anyway? ;) ). It could be a waste of Internet :D

QuoteI get OOPS! THERE'S BEEN AN ERROR! when i go to download Dreamweb!

Using IE? Delete temporary files and history, then try link again (I know It's painful), but then, at least you won't be having same problem for this day (password is set daily, i think)

1. This is probably wrong place, try beginners forum
2. You may move character out from screen (giving him larger x or y coordinate than room is), or (if it's non-player character), set his room -1.
Seek for more info under help (Text Scripting Global Variables)
3. Skills? Learn everything about SetGlobalInt and GetGlobalInt

About colored scripting: Well, comments will be green. But any other? Didn't notice. Could be useful to set scripting colors, so Character names had one color and commands another etc.

And font editors... SCI-Studio crashes all the time, plus erases randomly some letters in font editor... a pain, and no gain

1) Darken processor style GUI textbox.
I can do something like that making 2x2 pixel
grid with black color (works well only hi res), but It'll be awesome to have a textbox which just darkens a rectangle of background. I think I asked for that some time ago.

Things like this are used in many games. First one that
comes into my mind would be KGB a.k.a Konspiracy by Cryo/Virgin... making this can't be that hard (we cand darken sprites, right? why not background?), plus I thought AGS could use some improvement on way games could look. This far, most improvements based on MORE complex scripting.

2) Colored font. I mean, multicolor font. Again, this is not an utopia, VERY old games use that (gradient ones are especially cool).

3) Font w/shadows? why not list it here. Actually I don't believe any of my suggestions would be implemented soon/ever, but digitally, my thread doesn't take much server space, so what the heck. ;)

4) Font editor? If SCI studio did that, why not to have even better one in AGS? It's Adventure Game STUDIO, after all. And some of SCI-code is existing already, in importing possibility.

5) Views in folders or Views w/names. Just like sprites.

6) Help with possibility to search from pages. (this far, we can only find pages that include searched keyword, not the keywords, though they're highlighted, which is really nice)

7) Colored text scripting. Speaks for itsself. And is handy to avoid errors.

8) Forced mistake check (like button or menu option that finds errors in scripts, just like saving a room does - good for making script right before trying to save a room)

Actually, I just hope a lot of feedback on my ideas.

Doesn't it slow things down?

Ah, hell. As I said, we need
character[CHARID].visible
and that's it.

#3099
IT IS the same. Mamarulez just didn't read this thread before posting.

Yeah! Let's make a game everybody likes - At the start of a game, player is forced to complete IQ-test, and the puzzles in the game will vary on the test results - easier ones for stupider ones...
