I've been scratching my head several days... Cannot find a catchy name.
Game itself features modern/sci-fi creeps and weapons (jeeps, tanks, flamethrower turrets, etc) so easy way - having a fantasy name - won't do.

What I want is name to be really easy to remember, yet somewhat original.
Famous defense games, Protector or Onslaught for example are just something I'd like. Simple, yet memorable. And cool-sounding.
Also, name should be usable as in domain name also, should I make a website. If reserved, I can simply add "-game.com" or something.

What I don't want is "TD" or "defense" to appear in name. There's way too many of those.

Ideas?

» We actually use a tripod this time round!

That's a good idea. I liked what you linked but shaking during moments where it was absolutely unnecessary, such as dialogues, etc felt really bad. Following people into spooky house or whatever are moments where a little shaky hand adds immersion, though.

Ok, got it. For me, 40 = particle life

and after some mess of a script, it worked! Thanks

Where does 40 come from?

Imagine our galaxy as 2D plane. Say, in a computer game.

Sun is in the middle.
Planet needs to move towards sun from random starting point. No physics involved...

How do I find exactly how much planet needs to move both on X and Y axis to go directly towards sun? Point is in that planet could be placed at random point when starting.
Sounds like junior geometry exercise, but I'm totally blocked!

Basically, planets were example. I'm actually making top-view rain and need to calculate each raindrop so they'd move towards center of the screen.

Heh, just when they thought it was over, I stumbled across this gem!

I do not see it. Some attempt at lousy kiss-ass AGS-patriotism?

Why are you youtube-searching for Chris Jones?  :-\

Somehow... shadow in the front - even though it adds excitement - totally steals focus from the rest of the image. Like someone's holding something sharp infront of your eye... It kind of forces you to move eyes there... I'd reduce darkness alot.

Apart from this, I like overall graphics style :D it looks fun! But try paint more properly, don't leave gaps. Pipes next to bar look really bad. Also, area behind counter feels like a bathtub full of smoke.

I agree 100% with Calin. I figure that before you put something up on the internet, you have to be prepared to face the consequences.

I see this other way.
If you show stuff to your mother and friends, you have very limited feedback, since it's really a small group. If your friends are - say - all professional artists - you pretty much know what you'll get.

On the internet, for every person who finds your skills low, there's thousands who find whatever you do absolutely amazing. That's because artists (any kind) and talented people are rare!

Now, AGS community is mostly a collection of artists, talented people, etc so harsher criticism is more likely here.
Still, know your limit! There's always someone who can do better. You might be used to draw better than your mother and any of friends, but this is the internet. So perfectionism is more of an obstacle than helpful. You cannot beat every race, y'know. There's always some critique that's out of your league to address. I will never, ever make such realistic lighting as loominous suggests or make as cutesy sprites as ProgZmax. So what? That doesn't mean I'm not trying my best!

Lolwut?

As a long-time CL "resident", all I can say that there's people dumber than/not so good as you, and you must know it.
Example: You post something. Everyone tries to find a point to pick on.

Now, some people really have skill and eye to actually help you improve or point out shortcomings, some don't. If I'd made every suggested change in a background I posted,  I would end up with bg that is never ready and which I don't recognize anymore.
Also, drawing and drawing for example are two different things.

You can draw a pretty flower and be super-detailed about it or simply mspaint an awesome robot. Guess which one gets more praise?

@OneDollar

I doubt problem lies in power supply -- sounds either driver or overheating problem. Well, heating CAN come from PSU issues, but it's still somewhat unlikely.

I'd try first to downgrade drivers to last version released while this card was "hot".
It worked well with my GF5700LE when Portal and Medal of Honor had all kinds of glitches on screen, don't know much about ATI cards, because I never bought one.

Overheating is a plausible version too, observe temperature. Also, try all settings on lowest and see if glitch still appears. Or open case, room windows and point ordinary fan at where card is.

What I'd like to know is why every country is releasing documents on UFO's except the one country that has supposedly formed an alliance with ET's, the USA.

...Or maybe because that particular country earns billions from UFO myths through literature, games, TV-shows and movies?

Walkable area is too steep (vertically)

You'd have to scale character to hell and back to walk there and it wouldn't look very good.
Atleast make sure that at lowest edge of screen, character could be 100% scale and scale only downwards while walking up. Otherwise it'd look messy.

3 first images look okay, not so sure about others. First, there's too much of walkable ground in sight. Second, walkway on longest image -- area on left side looks really weird. I don't think anyone would be really able to see walkway after it starts descending after rise. I hope you understand what part I mean. It almost looks like walkway is not facing sky, but like a fly paper taped onto cliff facing my monitor. Unless it's a spider-man game, I doubt anyone could walk on this.

As for final word, It's not bad, just there's alot to improve yet. Most of all, fix perspective to atleast believable and use less curved cracks in walls, better make them longer and more rigid feeling (straight) -- it's a rock, not glass, right?

You can make scary game with using only text.
KGB (a.k.a Conspiracy) comes to mind. Game was based on little graphics and lots of shocking text. For example, you ended up in a meatshop, lit the switch and saw meatbags on your screen. Upon inspection, TEXT described what's inside bags... and it worked. And it still scared you shitless, without any animations, gory images, eerie sounds etc.

KGB is an excellent example how to make game scary, intense and exciting with good writing only.

See for yourself!

Also, most frightening is usually players imagination. As someone said, "without imagination, there is no fear".
So don't go all the way giving clear picture of the shock thing. Leave something for player to imagine, because it'll be times stronger than whatever you can present. Mysterious note, sound, etc could invoke alot more fear than that screenful of spiders eating zombies eating kittens you painted for 4 hours.

Lose the box things over main menu text

...
perfect.

why? Page overall has professional look. Block things have artsy-wannabe-design.
Doesn't mix in my book.
