Could you film this? Or do a recorded version of your presentation at home? 'Cause I would really like to watch this presentation. If not, no problem, and good luck!

Here is what I see after a few beers:

Attention!

I want to try something new with this competiton, and hopefully it will stir up a bit more interest than the previous animation contests. I felt the previous competitions were about making animated shorts than actually animating a sprite and that's why I think there was such a low interest. I do have permission to start this thread and revamp the competition.. sort of.... but if I hear any objections then I will happily hand the cursed competition over to the willing party.

Rules:

  • Animate a sprite of your own or of the one given.
  • The animation must be based on the rules given.
  • The competition will last 2 weeks and the host will decide the winner/host of the next competition.

Theme:
FIRE!

I want to see some fire animations. Either if it is a burning torch, candle, flamethrower, anything as long its an open flame.

Supplied Sprite:
NB: You don't need to use this. I would actually rather see other sprites than this one, although it the quality of the animation that will be judged.

I want this competition to be about developing your own skills. Hopefully the future competitions set will be about animations you are likely to do when you make an adventure game.

Edited by mod: Fixed dates in the subject. Was amusing for a while. :=

Gone are the days were a tokbox room is open for longer than a couple of hours.

Well I think I might agree with Progz here. It's only fair that if the author wants some feedback, give it, if not don't. And we do have such a forum to do so in. However I think it's only fair that any feedback as such should be posted after the competition finishes.

I'm sure that if someone gives a bad review, from a such respected member of the forums as yourself Leon/Gilbot etc, an another member of the forums won't bother playing that game. Or even worse than that, not play any of the games or vote.

I understand that people want to give their opinions, but also you have to appreciate that feedback doesn't only affect the author of the game. Maybe a tactic is to keep the thread of the competition open a few days after the competition is over, just to allow any such feedback posts to be posted. And if the author of a game wants a more in depth post about their game then they can PM people or make a CL thread.

I dunno if any of this is much of a spoiler, but anyway STOP READING IF YOU WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME.

BUG: I got stuck as Dan in PAL's lab at the corner closest to Ben of the bench. I couldn't move, and Dan kept facing away from the screen. I'm gussing its a walkable area issue. But, great game so far. Laughed at some things maybe too much and too hard  ;D

If 9 months is a "bit late" for you, I wonder what really late is in your books. :P

Indieboy is currently looking for a dull boring time involving some complete strangers on the internet.

Indieboy is drawing is a cat.
Indieboy is listening to some pumping tunes.
Indieboy... just 'cause he's bored.

Saw it yesterday and really liked it. I haven't got much else to say that hasn't already been posted here.
Overall: Hypothetically, if the whole Star Trek franchise thing started with this movie first then I see a positive future in the concept.

I think we should re-invent the animation competition as the interest is so low. I beleive the main problem is that the image is supplied. Why don't we change it so that you have to make a character perform some sort of animation? E.g. "The dog food is stored up high, make an animation of a dog getting the food", "Pirate Steve just recently lost his leg, make a walkcycle demonstrating him getting used to his new leg". Or something along those lines. I think it would be more useful to improve the entrant's skills as they are creating everything rather than being able to animate with someone else's sprite/style.

Site & Forum Reports / Re: New AGS Website

Is this thread about the Ultimate AGS website or the a New AGS website? I mean it has been months, and we are nearly there. The longer we put it off the more chance we will be repelling a great new crowd of potential AGS users.
