My vote goes to Rodekill: A day in the life. I still sing "tiny bubbles" sometimes. :)

But for a professional game I like Space Quest 3. I think that games' soundtrack sticks with me because it was the first game I heard on a soundblaster.

The best part of game making? I love being done.

Done with a background. Done with a walkcycle. Done with a room, fresh with hotspots. Done with the room descriptions and the attempts at the witty dialog. Done with that last pesky animation. Done with the last .midi import. Done with that batch of .wav files that needed editing. Done with the bug testing and spell checking.

Just done.

Ahh, but truth be told the best part is the journey. Adventure Game making is such a creative outlet. Nothing quite compares to it. There is nothing like drawing and listening to some Dean Martin, or bashing your head against your desk in an attempt to squash yet another scripting error. Nothing like uploading the .zip file and like Mr C. said watching the announcements forum like an expectant mother. And of course ... nothing quite like designing another.

All I can say is, "Incredible". That is an awesome edit. It fixes everything wrong about the shoulders and the lighting. I've saved the file to my HD to learn from. Thanks!

I think the head itself is ok in size. To me what appears to be the problem is the overly long neck. The cape also seems to hang weird. Also, his right hand seems to be missing. Other than that, Ã, this picture is a thumbs up. As far as his mood ... I get the impression he's a rather cunning villainous type.

This game is funny and not funny all at the same time. I loved the dialog, and the animations.

I've never had this happen with an adventure game. But almost 100% of the time after I read a good book. I'll find myself playing the narrator in my head as I go about my day.

Kind of strange he thought as he pressed the Post button.

Quotelightsabers are blunt at the end

Haddas: Very true, didn't think anyone would catch that. I changed it a bit intentionally to give it some flavor.

Quotethe lightsaber should be the major lightsource ... also, the upper right shoulder looks very wierd...looks flat

stuh505: Hrm, yeah the lightsaber should be the main lightsource. In which case all my shadows are off! :) That shoulder is indeed messed up. I didn't notice the bad placement until she was already inked. I had hoped that my Flash editing had corrected the problem, but it still appears out of place.

Quotesimilar to the star wars animated thingy that i watch in cartoon network

fertoff: Thanks, your comment just made my day. I love that style and the Star Wars animated artwork.

QuotePlans for a Jedi Fan game?
Reptile: No, but I am involved in a Space Quest fan game ATM. My other favorite Sci-fi. :)

Howdy. This picture I drew by pencil. Then I scanned it in PSP and colored it in Flash. Tell me what you think. This is my first time trying a Light source. I normally just do shading and no highlights. I think it all works but you tell me.

Here is the pic ...

Cool game. I enjoyed the dialog with the old man, and the retro Back to the Future style. The opening intro was awesome! After that great intro the ending was a little bit disappointing though. :( My only other complaint was the soundtrack. The music just didn't seem to fit the game's style. The story and puzzles were all well done. Even if you did steal my puzzle idea for unlocking the car!Ã,  :) Just kidding of course, good job, and I'm looking forward to that *full* version.

Great game, Dave Gilbert, BerserkerTails, Dart, Scotch, and Yoke.

A few of the puzzles were a little to much for me so I had to cheat a little. :) Other than that a great play. I enjoyed the two characters and the story. The ending's music and photos were great. I've got that .mp3 tucked neatly away on my HD.

I love the new 32bit support CJ! My sprites look so good. All except for one small issue. I need to know if this is a bug or as you say a "feature" :)

When I display a sprite with the alpha channel all is good. When I display a mouse with the alpha channel all is good. The trouble is when I display a GUI.

The GUI background image with the alpha channel is displayed correctly. However, when I display a GUI button over this GUI background image it is displayed without the alpha channel. This cropped screenshot should shed some light on what I mean.

The eyeball icon on the left is the GUI button. The eyeball icon on the right is a room object. Both are the same imported graphic. The bubbles are the GUI background image.

Critics' Lounge / Re:Tips on voice recording?

I've found that a wind screen for your mic is a must for avoiding those annoying pops.  The hissing and some background noise can be edited out, very tedious though.

I've found that recording the lines all in a row instead of one at a time helps you get more comfortable in the role. It's hard to get into the part when you just say one line and then hit stop. I've even gone as far as recording my lines 2-3 times over on the same take just to get into the flow.

This link is invaluable: http://planethalflife.com/studiosound/voice.htm

Good luck.  :)
