That's cool!
The murkiness makes it kinda nightmarish; if the story holds what the pics promise, I suppose the game will be great!

The gun's a bit large, I think (never saw a real one, though)...
But otherwise it's pretty cool; I do not think that his head looks too funny... Yeah, I look forward to the animation!

Maybe add some detail to the walls?
Cracks or chips maybe, or probably even cobwebs...

You could also leave some of the racks empty. Would make it look more 'in use'

Edit:
Maybe I should read the other posts before posting myself...

Thanks to everyone!

Ok, now for some replies:
-GhostGr: I agree on the eyebrows, but fear that half-closed eyes are a bit difficult.

-lazy dragonrose: I agree on the first two points, but the latter ones... I'm not sure about those, I guess, I'll just try

-Gilbot: If you look closely, you see that his nose armor leave out the upper side of the nose (where the bars are bent over). This is exactly large enough for the eyes to see through (actually, I took great care and thought a lot about that!)

-YOke: I'll sure try that!

-shbazjinkens: I do my 3D stuff in Cinema4D.
About your suggestions: Despite being rendered in rather high detail, this is still a cartoonish character. Eyebrows will just float above the eyes. I used to try a few things about making Knubbels appear more animal-like, but either I change the appearance thoroughly(which I don't want) or make it look totally stupid (which I don't want either).
And, well, let's say the armor is gilded steel, ok? (Besides being soft, gold would be f***ing heavy, too...)
The Eyes are not transparent but reflective (but, I guess, I'll change that)

Well, next week I'll post an improved version!

Hi guys!

I'm working on a game which features a knight tournament.
I want to make it absolutely clear, that the player character is the noble, modest good guy, and his adversary is a vain, arrogant sucker (but not evil, mind you).
Now, my question is, how to make him look real real vain?
He already has golden armor inlaid with silver and on his shield he bears a silver unicorn.

Oh, heck, I'll just post a pic for you.

For those not yet familiar with my characters: That's a Knubbel. Cute little green guy, shaped like a fat aeroplane with eyes and feet (here he uses his propellers to hold the sword).

EDIT: Yeah, that Unicorn (Knubblicorn) DOES have six feet... Dunno why... Thought it funny, maybe

How in all hell do I get out the window?
There are no bars anymore, but I don't know what I could use to get out without falling to death...

You don't die. That's the only way to exit this room. Unfortunately, the demo IS only this one room...  ::)

I've got Win2K and Media Player Version 9.0.0.2980.

Either would be cool for me...
#214
not for mine, but I honestly doubt that this would help...

That's it more or less... No turning back into a human... Just hop a little around in the library, until you find that philosophical book. Exit the city and you're done.

Although there's no green flash in Media player when I play my DIV-X movies, it is there in the game. Using MPEG works without the flash (the screen blackens for the fraction of a second, but I think that's ok) but sadly the file size is almost twice...

Still, thanks alot!

Hm, I just got an idea: would it be possible to have video overlays?
#217
Doubling the color bitrate means double file size when pictures are saved uncompressed. (Uncompressed file size is simply (number of pixels)*(color bits))
With compression, the gain in file size is less significant (although I don't know if and how images are compressed in AGS)
#218
Great idea, could use someting like that, too!

The size of AVI's is dependent on the codec. A good codec which produces small files at high quality is "Div-X".
Goto http://www.divx.com  there you can get it.

Hi!

I sometimes want to play a movie between two rooms, in order to make a smooth transition (e.g. Player opens door, movie shows camera flight through door into next room.)
There's one minor annoying thing with that: Whenever the movie starts up, a green flash apperars, then the movie starts. I'm using AVI videos at the same resolution and color depth as the game and have tried several codecs which all cause the green flash.

If there is a way to avoid it, I would be grateful
