I've done a very rough mock-up of the main Games page, but I'm not very happy with it at the moment. There are lots of different potential things to take centre stage (Showcase, Pick of the Month, Award Winners, Search, etc) that it's hard to know how to lay out the page for best effect. Any ideas?

I'm liking it, but I do feel it's a bit all over the place when compared to the AGS and Forum pages. Maybe it could use a frame like they have, too? That would then pose the problem of slightly limiting the amount of contents you can reasonably put in, though. In a way of thinking... Ofcource you could just tile everything vertically in one frame and be done with it but that might get a bit boring.

I'm on the don't like the characters around the logo wagon. Either a screenshot banner type deal (or something alike) or leave it be is what I'll stay with. It might be a bit dull but atleast it's not distracting.

* Need to decide what to put in the right hand pane on the News page

A list of news dates and possibly headlines for easy jumping down to the one you're looking for? Or possible jsut the last something or other number.

You can use player.loop to find out which way the player is facing, or use .FaceCharacter or .FaceLocation to make the player turn. There's also a GetWalkableAreaAt function you can use to see if there is walkable area infront of the player (after finding out which way he is facing) and react accordingly, if you want.

When not in very imaginarily wrong places (like in "can't") I like the extra R's in spoken English. But I do like most dialects that don't try to ruin gammar anyway...

I'd go with "No, fuck off!" but you wouldn't get the reference and thus just would get offended.

Christianity is really the siliest religion to go extreme on. All you can do that way is harm yourself really. You're not going anyplace by harming others, but by torturing yourself with foolish obidience to rules impossible to follow. And in the process you'll just be doing some level of harm to others, thus willingly hurting others and going to Hell anyway. Christianity is a very contradictory religion, no matter which way you look at it. So look at it from a point of view where you do the least harm and have the best possible time yourself.

I'm eagerly waiting for the Crowley quote to show up then, btw.

Quick! Someone lock this thread before it turns into yet another pointless religious argument, for this person here is clearly posessed in an unhealthy manner by his fear of a supposedly omnipresent, almight being that can't even prove it's own existance in any way.
#128
To me it seems atheists are mostly christian tho... Not that I know horribly many. Anyway, I just haven't come across atheists denying metaphysics or such.
#129
Being an atheist just means you want to deny the christian god's existance, or so I've understood from all the different versions out there. Telekinesis has nothing to do with him.

Something becomes a religion when multiple people follow it in a more or less organised manner, or about so. And all religion is stupid, so is debating about it. Ofcource you can debate facts, but "god 1 is better than god 2 because..." is no fact in any case. A fact would be if Anubis has been pictured to have a head of an eagle or not, since there's historic evidence to back up or prove wrong any claims on that.* On that thought, what do current western religions have to offer on that? A piece of text someone's written a few years back. Nice facts you got there to start with. So it's really pointless to start any of this, as Boyd already said.

* which actually is not about religion either, but it's as close as you can get and still have an online conversation with any hope of decency.

I'd still have that examn if I ended up going and I'd really love to make Lapaset too. Is there a problem with the 8th to the 14th?
#132
Yes, seeing how we very efficiently killed the thread here I'll just be about my business developing this game and waiting if an artist or a few would fall in my lap...

This screenshot is from an alpha version of the only ambitious project of mine to ever get anywhere from the planning stage, in one of it's twists of avant-gardeness. Since then said alpha and all it's resources are sadly lost, so they'd need redoing. I just haven't been arsed to start looking for people yet.

Why it is a very artifacty jpeg I really don't know.

8th to 14th? A whole free week for me there. Or on from the 16th then.
#135
The dates crash in nicely with my university entrance examns...

But oh well! I wouldn't get in anyway.

(But if it turns out feasible to move them around, it's the 15th)

I second the notion, managed to stuck myself there pretty well.

Can the black chest in the brig be opened, btw?

Me and my choatic presense can be expected to be sighted and suffered on the scene.

General Discussion / Re: Virus in download?
Sat 03/01/2009 12:58:36
Sounds like a false positive. I've had Antivir find the most interesting viruses on the most unusual files. One such was some downloader trojan or worm or whatever on mIRC.exe, appeared mid-runtime. It was gone after the next Antivir virus database update.

If you've got a newer motherboard you might need to check if the slots are correct. There's some channel business with them nowdays. For example my 2 gigs goes to slots 1 and 3 or 2 and 4, don't remember which but they're supposed to be a slot apart. Don't know what's the deal with modules from separate packages, but a thought to concider nevertheless.

There are too many things to be arranged, so eventually nobody will go anywhere or everybody will just go to their local thing and either way everybody's unhappy for nobody from further showing up. :P
