What was the last AGS version you used to edit the game?

Did you try the "Rebuild all files" option too?

I think he means normalising all files, which, when done correctly, indeed sets the loudest points of every file at the same volume but doens't produce pops, clicks or distortion. I've maybe half of my music library through Winamp's replay gain calculator to get everything play at about the same volume, works just fine. Basically the same thing, but without actually modifying the file.

The point is that unless the sound files are very similar, and internally uniform, even the most correctly done normalization will not be successful in producing an even perceived volume. For mainstream pop music, which is already insanely compressed, sure. For most other music, it will range from "probably not" to "definitely not". For voice acting, as Nikolas says, it's "hell no" (those being my words), even though even commercial games sometimes seem to use it, and reap gigantic fail because of it.

Well, there's really no mainstream pop in said music library... Anyway, I might be just thinking too simple here then. If it's not just a matter of some files being more quiet than others, nevermind me.

Usually such things are better down by hand and not automatically. (Depends on what you want though). I mean having the same volume, would mean that the peaks (loudest point) would be at... -1 db for example, which would mean nothing for the rest of the file really. So a loud bang in the beginning of the file, would render the rest of the file very low in volume, whereas a soft file, would be too loud.

Ah, ofcource. I forgot characters have baselines nowdays too. So yeah, it's that. Z-order for GUIs controlled their drawing order.
#225
Tried changing their z-order? I'm not sure if I understood you right, but if I did I think that's what you need.

The general rule has been that you should make all art specifically for the game and within the competition week. I don't remember the policy for pre-made publically available art, tho.

I was at Sauna Open Air the whole three days, saw Children of Bodom, Scorpions, Whitesnake, Sebastian Bach, and many others. Really enjoyed the whole thing, and just simply skipped the performers I didn't have any interest in seeing. I've heard complaints afterwards about people behaving the normal festival style around here (drunk as a lord, and rather noisy at it), but luckily I didn't run into any such people...

If KhrisMUC's suggestion doesn't work, start a few loop timer in the on_mouse_click instead and check for it's expiration in rep_ex and set to walk mode after that. Might need some fine tuning still, tho.

Great work, people. Nice to see the community in action again :)

adding a game without the author's knowledge would be a different issue.

I never said that. The author still has influence on it. The author will be send the password to update their page.

But it would still be adding the game to the database without thier agreement to it. And I think adding every game that pops up here and there to the DB would be both silly and painful. It works just fine as it is.

Oh, ok, then I probably remember wrong.

I thought mismatched brackets give the error on the last line? Or has that been changed?

I don't know of a newer workaround for it, but I did a system for this back in the days of AGS 2.6-something and it did take some time to figure out. Basically you'd just need to move the character, and somewhere non-blocking (like repeatedly_execute) check when the character is close enough and then perform the action. Developing a system to make it work universally will take some fiddling, but it's doable and not very hard in the end.
#234
I'd begin by trying either repositioning the character manually as the animation progresses, or changing frames according to character location and move the character normally. Or both. The latter does sound easier to do off the top of my head, if locking views actually works how I recall it working. Haven't used it in a while...

I do remember the trailer now that I watched it again. And I think I spotted a part of the Hexen title screen in there ¬¬

So it's a lot like a WAGS, right?  :P

No. It's OROW.

It's hard to draw the line between fun and spam. I apparently draw it a bit further in to the fun side than most people, but I've been in this community for a long time, seen a lot of the earlier topics, but not once before do I recall to have felt a topic left open has been useless in this respect. But as it's none of my business I'm resting my case here for now.

I'm with Tuomas here. If you want to have fun go make or play AGS games, take part in the fun competitions, or something. Don't clutter the forum with useless stuff. What if we didn't have all this useless posting going on, might we maybe get the member search function back or something?

It's interesting how you can fit twenty people in a definition that's a superlative of a superlative...

I think it is possible to predict the future. The catch is, things have to be the same way as they are at the moment of the prediction at the moment of the whatever is going to happen. If something changes, the future changes. It's occasionally wery subconcious too: we're thinking "Oh no this is going to suck for sure" and just wait for it to happen, and what do you know, it does suck. But if you realise you can do something to make it not suck, it most likely won't if you really are doing something and not just thinking you are yet still believing it will.

This works two ways: if someone predicts something people start looking forward to it, which keeps things the same as people want to see it happen and don't want to stray away from it, or people want to avoid it and do things that lead everything on a different course of events.

Almost the same as the alternative timeline explanation, with the little difference that in this case we haven't actually strayed anywhere, but instead made a difference.

There's on prediction that'll stand, though. There will always be a fool to take the place of one stepping down. :=
