It looks to me like it can't find AGS.Native.dll. Try re-extracting AGS, and make sure you get all the files. ;)

All files are there, so I guess it's what Chris said. Thanks for looking into it Chris.

Loading up the latest 3.0 editor beta gives me:

An unexpected error occurred trying to start up the AGS Editor. Please consult the details below and post the error to the AGS Technical Forum.

WRN: Assembly binding logging is turned OFF.

To enable assembly bind failure logging, set the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog] (DWORD) to 1.

Note: There is some performance penalty associated with assembly bind failure logging.

To turn this feature off, remove the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog].

2.72 runs without any trouble though. Running Vista x64 with the latest .NET Framework installed.

edit:

Some more information. When I load up the AGS beta, it shows the splashscreen for about a second before the error shows up. When I close the error window the splashscreen is still there, and nothing happens. I have to manually close the process using the task-manager, which results in the following error:

---------------------------
Application Error

An unexpected error occurred. See below for details.

And now for the "so bad it's good" answer:

Hell: A Cyberpunk Thriller

NECK CHOP

Haha! I remember reading about this game back when it was released and it sounded so cool.

First of all, I must say it looks really good! You've really mastered the shading imo :) The only thing bugging me in the animation is his groin; I don't know why or what, but it looks odd! But perhaps that's just me...

Hints & Tips / Re: DARRYL - AGS game
Mon 07/05/2007 11:24:55
As author of this I'll clear it up. As posted:

"Darryl Bigg, specialized in failing. Especially with women! ==>Intro<== to a game I decided to make after playing the old Larry games again. It ends when Darryl gets on the ship."

It was just the intro to a game which I was working on. I probably shouldn't have added it, but I guess I was in a 'dang I must release something!'-mood back then.

What would have to be animated?

My ideal game would be one that gets finished.

That goes for me aswell :)

I'd really love to finish the first real game attempt I ever did. The Star Trek spoof. A while ago I started on my third attempt of starting over, and remaking it. But due to some real life issues I lost interest in making it.

But what I'd like to make even more than that, is an RPG I've been trying to make with AGS for a few years now. After starting over from scratch 5 times I finally have something which I can work with. The game currently has quite some features. Turn-based combat with 8 different types of spells, which can be upgraded. A fully working town, with an inn, magic shop, blacksmith and a church (you can turn in runes there, which drop from bosses in dungeons; they permanently increase certain stats). A 24-screen forest, where you can randomly encounter bears, snakes, wolves, rogues, mages. Each mob has a base attack, and a special ability. The bear for example has a charge, which stuns you for a few turns. There's 3 different weapons in game; each weapon has it's own graphics in the combat scenes. Same for armor.

I'd really love to finish this one, but I think I burned myself out a bit on it. I spent weeks devoting every free minute of my time on scripting. Scripting until my head hurt. All those numbers and formulas; just looking at the script now gives me a headache! But this one might actually evolve to a game. I have most of the basic stuff done. I just need a break from it I guess. I hope! Here's some screenies

This discussion reminds me of Knights Of The Old Republic. I loved doing evil things, and thus going dark side. Had quite a satisfying ending as well if I remember correctly.

For that particular example you could do something with the room's repeatedly execute (to make it repeating) and Character.Walk (set it's blocking mode to eNoBlock). And probably Character.Moving aswell.
#71
What exactly is in this bit of code you want to repeat and make blocking?

I'm preparded to do some hard scripting

If you're prepared to do some 'hard scripting' then you should just code it yourself, from scratch. Probably easier than trying to merge different modules into what you want em to do.

Thanks alot, exactly what I needed!

My character is moved around using the keyboard, and you use spacebar to look at things/use things/talk to people. It works nicely, but when I use Display to display some text about an object the character looks at (for example), the text is removed immediatly if you keep the spacebar pressed just a bit too long. Is it somehow possible to disable keypresses removing text windows?

Thanks in advance...

How silly I have been, I did see the sierra.exe dos executable, but when I ran it it gave me a vga driver error so I though it wasn't working because of some missing files for the DOS version or whatever. But when I ran the setup and changed the soundcard from Roland to Soundblaster it did run. I just never tried to run it again after running the setup. Thanks :)

Hope I put it in the right forum :)

I went through my games collection and decided I wanted to play KQ6 again. I have the CD version for windows. I've been trying for a while to get it running, and eventually it worked. It runs using VDMS, but when I change the cursor, the graphic wont update. So When I change to examine-mode, it still shows the walk-mode cursor for example (though the action will change to examine). I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this, since it's a bit annoying.

Thanks in advance,

Def

Any game with a boobie-looking object is an instant hit!

But seriously, it sounds interesting. And I like the clean look of your graphics :)

Holy grails! That looks amazingly awesome!

The hands look good now! Though I can't remember what they looked like before you editted them, but they must've been fine since I can't remember them bothering me :)
