My creative side longs to do it.
Totally agree!  I get that urge alot.  I actually started working on Stan Ames 2 a while back, but with work and family it was just too hard to fit it in, so I let it go.  I definately want to get back into it, but I know it takes dedication, time, and motivation. Back when I made Stan Ames 1, I remember putting hours a day into the project and I know that theres no way I could do that now (at least not with 10 hour workdays and 4 little ones  ;D)  I will always have a passion for making games and hope that maybe someday I will get back into it.  Whoops! Enough about me lol.  I wish you nothing but the best of luck in your game-making endeavors Barbarian.  You've got talent and zombies always make everything better  ;)

Take care!

OH WOW!  That was awesome!  Very good indeed!  Scared the crap out of me!  You did an amazing job on this! A great survival-horror adventure! Reminded me of Resident Evil and Silent Hill. I was kind of sad that it ended abruptly  ;D, but it was still kick-ass and I would have LOVED to see you finish it, but I understand.  With a busy life sometimes its hard to make room for AGS.  I salute you!  You make a great adventure game and finished or not, you did a great job on this! BRAVO!!

Heh!  :D I remember you telling us about this game loooong ago!  Always wanted to give it a go!  Finished or not, it looks cool!  Will post after I play through.

I personally want to see Uninvited tranformed to 3D.  They did it with Shadowgate, why not Uninvited?  I'd pay to see how it would turn out cuz Uninvited is one of my favs of all time.  Probly never gonna happen but good concept though.

   Hey everyone!  Well, as you all (might) know, I produced Stan Ames:Private Eye back in 2006, uttering blurbs about production of  a second episode.  Well, ummm…about that….things have happened since then.  Feelings have changed and serious poop has hit the fan.
   Let me begin by saying I MISSED THIS PLACE! I haven’t been in the forums since 2006 and I am glad to be back.  Its good to see that the n00bs are still posting in the wrong  forums and Grundy is still kicking everyones ass all over the playground.  Ah, its good to be back. Anywho, onto topic.
   â€œStan Ames Episode 2: Beyond The Stars” has been delayed permanently until further notice.  Why? You ask?  Well I started production in mid 2006.  I accomplished much and things were looking mighty magnificent, but then….my hard drive gave out.  My CPU informed me that a device attached to the system wasn’t functioning properly, and I couldn’t sign in, so I decided to take it to a tech.  They said I needed a new hard drive, so I said OK!  As long as warranty covers it, GO FOR IT!  WELL….When I got my CPU back it worked great! Good?! No?!  All was lost! About 5 months worth of work was gone!  The bastards destroyed and replaced the HD on my CPU and it worked great (in their opinion). I know, I know, I should have backed up my files, but THEY SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME that they were going to destroy the contents of my HD!  Stan Ames 2 was lost and so was my hope.  That was back in 2007.
I havent even  attempted to recreate Ames 2 or even start a new project since.   Plus, the birth of my son back in July and starting a new job have kept me occupied.  But then it hit me about a week ago…..“I miss AGS!”  I told my wife this, and she replied “So do something about it!” .  SO I DID!  Im sorry everyone….I am not reconciling Stan Ames 2, I am starting a brand new project.  My hopes and inspirations have changed a lot in the past three years and so have my ideas, but know this everyone….I AM BACK TO AGS!…..And I couldn’t be more happy!  Ive learned alot here.  I will always backup my files to an external device periodically.  I will never leave AGS for 3 years again.  And last but not least, I will always respect all of you, because of all that you have taught me and all that I will never forget.  All the things that will help me to shine in my new game.

See you at the “In Production” forums later this year my friends!  ;) :) ;) :)

Yes, Puma!  Thanx a bunch!  I didnt even know 3.01 was out!  I downloaded it and I don't have the problem anymore.  (I guess I should check the Tech forum once in a while  :P)

Anyway, THANX again for the help!  It is much appreciated!

 Well, as far as getting started the "Scripting Tutorials" would be best (there is one in the manual and several in the forums).  After that, it depends on what you want to happen in your game as far as characters, objects, animations, etc.  If you read about each scripting function in the manual, it explains what each one does in the game (most even give you an example which really helps).

Just read the entire Scripting section of the manual.  It'll help you ALOT!

The manual DOES explain scripting, you just have to study it.  It took me a long time to understand scripts myself.  I spent a lot of time reading through the scripting section of the manual because it lists just about every script function you need to create an AGS game.  I even printed it out!  ;D

Just be patient and read thuroughly!  GL!

  I just recently downloaded AGS 3.0 to create my new game, but I'm having a problem with the View Editor.  I created several frames for a walking animation and loaded them into Loop 0 of View 1 (its the main characters front walking animation). The problem is, when I click the "Show Preview" box to see the animation, all I can see is the top 2 pixels of my character in the preview box at the bottom left.  Its as if a majority of it is cut off.  I've included a pic of the problem below.

If anyone knows what is wrong or how I can resolve this, please let me know.  It kinda sucks not being able to preview my animations.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!  Thanx everyone!

Hi
I have solved this problem by changing:

JournalLabel.SetText(JournalModule.GetJournalCurrentText());

by
JournalLabel.Text=JournalModule.GetJournalCurrentText();

hope this help
Ok, but where do you put this code?  Do you put it right after the code for the new journal entry or in REPEATEDLY_EXECUTE?  Cuz I tried both and it still doesn't change to the new entry????
#13
Hello.  I am having trouble with the module.  I created a journal gui and created a label and two buttons.  I know how to add entries, but how do I update the journal to display the NEWEST entry next time the player goes to the journal?

Code: ags

JournalLabel.SetText(JournalModule.GetJournalCurrentText());

doesn't work.  It says that SetText is invalid????  I read the entire help file but I still can't figure out how to have The newest entry displayed.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!  THAN YOU so much!

Well, Here is my "quick" take on this:

-I added the moon (obviously) and stars.
-Added gradient to horizon so the water and sky blended better.
-I softened some of the edges.
-I added a shadow of the island casted by the moon.

As I said, this was a quick paintover, but I hope it helps!

Good job so far!   :=

I think it looks great!

Maybe extend the feet down a little (make them bigger).
Other than that, its impressive.

Is your game going to be in grayscale?  That'd be interesting and original.

good luck!

Lookin good!  8)

I like it!  It's pretty darn good!   ;D

It would set the mood perfectly for your new Lif Adventure game.
It has a desert/ western sound to it.

Might want to make it longer or loop it somehow, but overall its great!

Well done!

I don't think "stiff" is the proper word to use.Ã,  ;D

Looks interesting though.Ã,  I love scary games.
