I checked thru the manual and I can't find anything on this and I tried everything I could, but I cant figure it out:

How do I make it so that the name of a hotspot or object will appear on the screen when the cursor is over it?

I know it has something to do with the GUI labels or something, but Im stumped.

If anyone could help me, that would be awesome!

Thanks a bunch!!!

General Discussion / Imagination
Tue 18/04/2006 00:38:06
Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  I remember back when I was a kid.Ã,  My imagination was running wild.Ã,  Not much I could do other than make my plastic action figures live out my adventure fantasies.Ã,  I would build cardboard buildings for them to destroy and imaginary houses for them to inhabit.Ã,  Imaginary girlfriends for them them to love.Ã,  The bad guy would show up and with a sudden closing of my throat, I would create an exploding sound and pretend that my hero did a special move and defeated the bad guy and lived happily ever after with the leading lady.
Ã,  Ã,  Ã,

Ã,  Ã,  Ã, Never did I realize that several years later, a man by the name of Chris Jones would let me bring all of those fantasies to life in an AGS game which would let me express my imagination in the form of an interactive experience that everyone around the world could be part of.Ã,  Ã,

Thats what AGS is all about.....Letting us express our imagination through interactive media.Ã,  Its a beautiful thing.Ã,

Makes us feel young again......Letting our imagination run wild!

And that is why each and every AGS game is beautiful in its own way......

Because of the fact that the creator let his/her imagination lead the way!!!

thank you Chris Jones...... ;D ;D ;D

I have recently played through Stan Ames and i,m a bit curious whether that key you could find near the end is just a red herring or if it actually has some purpose. This is no desperate question, it would simply be fun to know. Didn,t enjoy Stan Ames that much though, the end part reminded me more of a cheap B-movie than an adventure game.

Well I'm glad to hear that you didnt enjoy the game!Ã,  ;D

About the small key in the locker at the end, IF you can find a way back to the Wilkinson home after you get the key, but BEFORE you complete the game, youll find a very pleasant (and destructive) surprise in the wardrobe in the room with the fireplace.Ã,  Good luck!!Ã,  ;)

 ;D Thx guys!

By the way, Stan Ames 2 is gonna be HUGE.Ã,  All the characters will be more detailed as well as the backgrounds and scenes.Ã,  Expect a bigger and much more graphically stunning game for the sequel.Ã,  And I have taken everyones feedback on Stan Ames 1 into consideration to refine and improve gameplay.Ã,  ;) As far as a release date, I have started production, but don't expect Stan Ames 2 till probably late 2006. I will post a production thread about midway through development, until then....

Enjoy Stan Ames 1!!!!Ã,  Ã, :=

If you were going to have the shoot-out arcade sequence and you said he was getting more super human as the game went along, why not have a health bar or some description.Ã,  This would make it quite easier.Ã,  For example; 3 lives or something

Hmmm.  Thats not a bad idea.  ;)
Well, like I said, Stan Ames 2 will be more forgiving as far as the shoot-outs, so I will use the limited lives idea most likely.  I'm glad everyone is giving me their opinions, cuz this will help me better the gameplay mechanics for the sequel.

Thanks for the ideas!   ;D

I've gotten a lot of complaints about the "pixel-hunting".Ã,  Sorry everyone.
Just wanted to let you all know that Stan Ames 2 will be at a much higher resolution and pixel hunting will be no prob,( if there even is any pixel-hunting at all.Ã,  ;D)

I've taken in all the feedback I have received and I will use all of it to improve upon what I have already learned and to make Stan Ames 2 much better than the original.Ã,

On that note.Ã,  I have begun writing the story for Stan Ames 2.Ã,  Development will begin inÃ,  a few weeksÃ,  ;D
