I like the style of the picture but I'm not sure how well it would function as a backround.

Feck, it got caught in my spam filter. Give me a day or so and I'll have it for you. Sorry for the delay lads.
#63
Sounds fantastic lads, I'm really glad I get to start one of the branches, it'll be interesting to note where the differences (and similarities I guess) are between my and Babar's take on things.

This is turning into one heck of a ball. I am a very happy Ghost right now.

JackSheehan, for better view, could you change your link to

(without the * of couse)

I tried that first but the gif didn't animate.

Since there's been so much enthusiasm for the chain story or 'grandiose writing project', why don't we have an individual writing competition?

Every fortnight we set a topic like say, 'the sea' or 'road trip' and everyone writes their own short story. Everyone votes on their favorite and the winner gets to chose the next topic. It's a chance for people to improve their writing skills.

I reckon this would be wildly popular, opinions on a postcard please.

I don't like the name, sorry. It sounds far too whiny and doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.

I like it!

But I have no drawing skills.

Sign me up. Well not literally, I mean writing on your computer screen isn't a good plan.

I've had a fair few MP3 players... some shitty, some VERY shitty (and one of those was a Creative Zen). But the one I have now is just awesome:

Sony NWZ-A816 (Amazon link)

It's not too expensive, has great sound quality, super user friendly. It comes in a 8Gb version as well (I have the 4Gb) and best of all: you don't need any software to use it. Just connect with a USB cable, drag-n-drop. I'd heartily recommend this thing. :)

+1. Sony mp3's used to be absolutely shite but this is a very nice piece of kit.

Hey Buddy,

I'm not diabetic, but I have End Stage Renal Disease, which means my kidneys have failed and I'm on dialysis.  I can say that diabetes is managable, and it's not as bad as you could think.  Make sure you take care of it, if it is diabetes, or you could end up with failed kidneys and on dialysis, which sucks a major dog bone.

The small diabetes needles are WAY better than the 15 gauge needles I get every other day for treatment.  Two of them, into an A/V fistula (google it) in my arm.  Not fun!

This may seem a bit rude to ask but are you on the transplant lists? If so how long will you have to wait for a transplant?

Not rude at all - I like talking about my experiences with kidney failure.

Yeah, I am on a list for a transplantation.  It's a varied and complicated procedure, and there's really no set "time" in which I could get a kidney.  They need to match you, based on several factors including blood type and antigen matching, and when a kidney comes in the system in your area, you're matched - if you're a perfect match your chances of getting are the best - unless several people match.

It's a crapshoot.

I've had a transplant before from a living donor - my father.  Initially, it went well, but the kidney was damaged in an unreleated follow-up surgery and it never quite functioned well for the three years I had it.  It worked well enough to keep me off dialysis, but I had a host of other problems.

It failed, actually, a year ago this week and I returned to dialysis.  I've been on dialysis now for a year - it's a four hour treatment where they clean my blood and remove the excess fluid that builds up as my kidneys no longer filter out the water and toxins.  The procedure itself is relatively painless, but it can leave me exhausted, dizzy and groggy.  But you get by.   The illness, however, leaves me with a lot of time to work on games, heh, so it's good for all of us, eh?

Man, you certainly deal with it well, good luck.

Well if it is type 1 then i assure you that it's totally manageable. My dad's had type 1 since he was in his mid twenties and hes never had a real problem with it. The injections are such tiny needles that they barely hurt at all and you dont inject them into your veins.

I think it would make a nice official competition. Andail could pick his favourite paragraph, and the writer chooses the next topic, and the next winner, and so on...

It would encourage people to think harder about what they're going to write (since they want to win), and it also ensures that Andail doesn't start to run dry on ideas...

Anyway, I'll try to read it now before I go see Macbeth in the Helix (bleh).

Edit1: Wow, missed a whole page of this thread. I like the idea of teams - it might keep things more coherent, especially if the team-members are communicative.

Tell me if Macbeth is good will you? I have to go to it for my LC course.

Yes the uk needs to sort itself out, but it ain't that bad.

Compared to what, North Korea?

Calm down now, we dont want this to turn into a Sinn Fein thread now do we? Britain is a lovely place and so is ireland, I'd venture to say that we produce more lovely girls per head of population but the British did give the world afternoon tea, which im having right now.....mmm.....oh sorry.

Reading it as a whole it ALMOST makes sense, and lo rez did a nice job cleaning up the mess of the end. I'd definitely so this again. Perhaps we should begin suggesting a new topic. My suggestion: Russia.
