As far as I remember the default setting is for whichever colour is in the top-left pixel of the sprite. You should double check that the character's hair or anything else isn't occupying that sprite, then double-check that it the transparency is set to the top-left option.

Other options include other corners, palette 0 and no transparency from memory - I'd like to be more specific but I'm on a computer that does not have AGS right now.

The rules are pretty loose, really - just find ONE character you like from RON and use him as your main character. Considering RON characters include an insane scientist, an FBI agent, a student wizard, and adventuring archaeologist, a pirate, two superheros and the grim reaper the possibilities are quite vast...

Hmm, my idea for a RoN game fits this quite well.... so.... (insert phrase I've said way too often) I might enter this one....

Spoiler
I thought death was already pretty easily cured in MI, what with LeChuck coming back EVERY SINGLE GAME
[close]

I'm amazed at what Telltale are doing, really. Personally, I'd like to see them put out one big full-length game now that they clearly have the staff but I've enjoyed their efforts despite not playing too many. (ToMI, S&M and W&G) They're spreading themselves quite widely.

It's hard for me to judge King's Quest as a series beause I was born too late to really see them in context. It gives us hope that TellTale could make some awesome Space Quest games though!

It seems I'm more out of touch with AGS than I thought... I haven't played a single nominated game, lol.

A female harlequin into bondage
The smell of the chief of police
A man's snot
Ipecac pancakes
A microwaved guinea pig
A thing that you don't know what it is...

...oh, wait, this game is actually kind of difficult...

AGS: A God Send

AGS: It's free, so you don't have to be

AGS: Instant AG - just add caffeine and lukewarm pizza

AGS: This is illegal, you know

AGS: Hardcore, Softcore, Nerdcore and everything in between

AGS: Now open source - type your own nonsense here!

AGS: Currently has no completed games

AGS: Where men with sideburns are OUTRAGEOUS!!

I'd say the MI2SE was quite a wasted oppurtunity for them to restore some of the content Ron Gilbert had planned that had to be left out for disk space reasons in LeChuck's fortress, though. (I haven't actually played it, but I think it's safe to assume if they did something that major I would have heard about it)

The idea of the SEs was just to modify the SCUMM resources for both games, though, which definitely is a cool idea because even when you're playing the 'new' version it's still a game with 20 year old code they've just polished up. Doing that gives you some limitations, though.

When I heard about the SEs first thing to pop into my head was two games of jaw-dropping luscious Bill Tiller artwork with the CoMI interface, but that would definitely have been a hell of a lot more work, more pricey for us, less money for LA and probably not have the same nostalgia kick...

General Discussion / Re: Politics in AGS

This is a great test. Confirmed what I already figured - I'm very Left in broad issues but still quite authoritarian minded regarding government. But not enough to be a true authoritarian... soz for letting ya'll down.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't know quite how it works. -5.75, -0.92 are my values.

Did not plan to, but last night my housemate's latenight/early morning shenanigans prevented me from getting any sleep so I started. A shade under a thousand words... but all spent rambling over why a castle got its particular name. If I write 50 000 words they will all be gibberish..

Yeah, Trilby's Notes by m0ds was the first one to leap to my mind. A very pro soundtrack as well.

It's dubious for me to give advice, having not yet completed any finished games as they say, but the one that's come the closest (and been in indefinite hiatus for 2 years) is one where I wrote down everything I wanted to do, starting with a simple goal then working backwards, writing a walkthrough, and then working out what rooms I wanted, what I wanted in each room and drawing it, then starting to put it together. The main reason it isn't done is because I have spent too much time re-writing all the dialogue...

Be awesome if it happened in Sydney. Because I'm in Sydney! Not that I'm awesome, obviously...

Lol, this thread has turned into an AGS version of QI...

STEPHEN FRY: Now, what was the very first AGS game released?
ALAN DAVIES: Lassi Quest.
STEPHEN FRY: Oooooohhhhh!

*BRUUUM, BRUUUUUUM!*

(Sorry, extremely Anglo reference..)

Awesome, I was worried this project had just faded away...

The ultra-obscure Australian sitcom Double the Fist referenced Zork and other text adventures in a roundabout way in series 2 - one of the cast gets eaten by a computer virus (it's one of those shows), and at some stage later his friend hears his voice and talks to him. The dialogue I remember going something a little like this:

WOMP: Mephisto, where are you?

MEPHISTO: I am in a small room, it's very dark and I cannot see.

WOMP: Okay. Is there a light?

MEPHISTO: I can't see anything.

WOMP: Erm... go East!

MEPHISTO: I am in a hallway. It's very dark and I cannot see.

WOMP: Okay... turn on lamp!

MEPHISTO: There is no lamp!

..real one's probably funnier.

Having been to Melbourne once I can say that it has much better traffic than Sydney, I'd say is probably more pedestrian friendly, and there's seems to be brilliant Italian food on every block. That said, I was with my parents and they were there to buy marble tiles and look at houses so I didn't get to see any landmarks or anything interesting at all. (Aside from the Rippon Lea mansion, I believe that was the name anyway)

Personally I vouch for Powerhouse Museum and Maritime Museum in Sydney - though the latter only if you're into that kind of thing. I'm not sure if it's still the case but last time I was there they had a ddestroyer and a sumbarine constantly moored there.

Macquarie Street into Martin Place I've always thought was the best place of Sydney for a walk, with an added nerd bonus that it's featured in the matrix (Lady in the Red Dress scene... so funny to see US naval sailors in dress uniform going down a street so unmistakably Aussie to my eyes..) And I've always liked the ferries to get around the harbour, plus Taronga Zoo.

So... basically even though I live here I just like the standard tourist crap.  :P

DAAAA-YAM, even wit' no tools VWG smoke those muthas!

I wish to join the chorus saying that VWGs version of the song that Crazy Person of the Week has tried to quoted is far, far better than the actual song.
