à liked Clerks 2. His fans obviously liked it... even a fair few critics have good things to say.

"Smith is finally maturing into the modern voice of a disaffected generation, a label he earned rather haphazardly a decade before. Clerks II takes a stand against the notion that personal happiness is a hindrance to social advancement, as if the two concepts were so mutually exclusive that they could never live happily in the same sentiment. As his own career has proved, one can stay true to his talents and still become bigger than his own individual ideology. Clerks II should be the movie that makes Kevin Smith more than just a known name in certain households. It's a wonderful work of jokey genius."

If all you got from the movie was the star wars vs. lotr gags Smith isn't for you my friend.

"Synth bass sounds are rarely sound as convincing as a real bass guitar, and a lot of the free VSTi's you'll find will be aimed more at dance music,"

Yeah .. that's what I've discovered ... maybe I'm going to have to spend a few dollars on Greg's stuff.

*edit*

Come on people ... submit something already .. at least I have an excuse ... I can't bloody think of anything.

Few of you know me .. but I've been visiting on and off for 3-4 years now.

And here I am :)

I've found that black and white and high contrast hides all my bad skin and spots,
basicly all the 'me' that shouldn't be shown is taken away ... and a fancy image of my innerself is revealed ;D

Rock star eh?

I think that was a smorgasbord of sarcasm.

oracle: Sounds cool man ... what synths did you use. (Could be cool to know which instruments and\or softsynths\vsti's everybody made their tunes with)

I spent two hours (with my guitar this time) today trying to come up with something ... I had two ideas wich by some bizarre twist became westermy\cowboy thingies when recorded. Neither very original or perticularly evil sounding .. So i'll have to keep trying tomorrow ... I'm kicking myself for not coming up with something original .. I used to think of little evil medlodies all the time a year back when I was trying to write positive stuff.. but now when I need evil, all I can make is happy stuff .. Oh the irony.

Seems like the big guy is into sidescrolling and old school non-first-person games. Cool :)

"For those who didn't know, Smith is a huge gamer. In fact, he had to tear himself away from his Nintendo DS and the New Super Mario Bros. game to do this phone interview. He already went through the game once as Mario and then returned as Luigi for another go-round. I'm a big fan of scrolling games," said Smith. "I'm not into first-person games. My theory is you're a game fan of the games you came up with and I came up in the scrolling world. So I still love to this day scrolling games. That's why I'm so entranced with that Mario game on Nintendo DS. It's just a total scrolling game with great graphics."

"When it comes to the convergence of Hollywood and games, Smith believes there's a way to bring Jay and Silent Bob to the interactive realm, but he needs some help.

"I'm really not good enough to pull it off," said Smith. "Games is one field that I like to be entertained, rather than try to be entertaining. For years, people have been telling me to do a Jay and Silent Bob game. I'd be all for it, but I'm just not the guy to do it. I'd be happy to write the back story for the game, but when it comes to what are the levels and challenges and bosses and things like that, I'm so not good at coming up with that kind of stuff. It'd be nice if someone came out with a Jay and Silent Bob game. I'd play it in a heartbeat."

Anyone ever thought of making a Jay and Bob fan-game?

A long time AGS member, called Geoffkhan (aka Greg Schlaepfer, aka GregJazz), has made a number of basses, most of which are exceptional! And really cheap!

http://www.manytone.com/

Spam post over. ;D

Hey :) I knew Greg was a talented bassplayer, but I didn't know he made vsti's .. thanks man:) This looks very cool, and I would like to support him by purchasing a vasti or two - but my budget for this is minimal. Zero infact .. i was hoping anyone knew about some free vsti that was usable.

thomasregin: Hey man  :) I allways use a mixer or a mic'ed amp when recording, but I have a cheap bass so its still tricky to get the perfect bass sound. So a vsti with diffrent bass sounds and styles (jazz, rock, metal etc.) would make it alot easier :) Thanks though  ;)

buy a bass guitar! that's what I did... I'm a guitar player and bought a very simple 120 dollar bass guitar to get some bass tracks down... great purchase.
If you play guitar then it's really something to consider.

Hey man  :) I have a bass guitar .. but it tricky to record and get the right sound .. I use it when I'm recording songs and such but a vsti with diffrent bass types and sounds would really make it easier.

btw. do you have that guitar in you avatar? I love that type of guitar .. I just bought an Epi Dot, great guitar  ;D

deFineLicht: Ok, thanks anyway :)

I ment the vsti's you used :) I should have said software instruments ;)

I use Edirol Orchestral for my strings, horns and woodwinds. And some various other free ones for diffrent stuff ... you don't have a good bass guitar vsti do you?
I've been looking for a while now, and I can't seem to find anything that sounds good.

deFineLicht: Nice man .... I tried two piano keys with synths in the back and the melody on top ... I couldn't get it too work propperly .. I'm glad I didn't because it would have sounded very much like this, and that would have made us both look bad  ;)

But you have inspired me to try something diffrent .. thanks man.

Btw. what synths do you use?

mysticjim: Thanks for the tips :) I might try figuring out the tune on the guitar first .. might save me abit of floundering time.

I'm signing up for this ;D

I sat infront of the keyboard* a full hour and ahalf trying out ideas .. (*read: big rectangular ting with white and black thingies on it - not the letter and numbers kind) unfortunately everthing i tried ended up not working, it either sounded too cheerful or became something totally diffrent when adding the second intstrument.

The fact that I'm a self-thought guitar player instead of a piano player might have something to do with it too.
No real clue how to play the piano .. I'm making it up as I go along.
('I have the melody in my head, now where are the keys that corespond with it I wonder', he thought to himself)

Anyway ... I'll keep trying. I'm really looking forward to hearing what the board members can do though..
I haven't been on these boards in a long time so inspire me dudes and dudettes!

Completed Game Announcements / Re: Reactor 09
Mon 11/12/2006 04:24:19
I usually stick to comedy games, and prefer comedy over mystery allmost everytime - but when reading the AG announcement, the thought of a game  with a trust meter really got me interested ... I had yet to play a game with multiple endings determined by the way you treated your sidekick.

I was on the edge of my seat all the way through, I so loved the story .. allthough personally I would have liked it to last a little longer, it was so good. But what are you gonna do, this was great, can't complain on a little factor like that when the entire game rocked!

I laughed, I didn't cry .. but I was worried when I though my character was going to die when the oxygen meter kept beeping, I was frustrated with the laser measuing thing - but oh what a great sence of accomplishment when that sodding light finally stopped blinking  ;D

I hear you like making humor games .. I like playing them, so if you can incorporate some of the suspence and trill of this game combined with some of the humor of the other adventure game you made you've got a winner!

Thanks man ... I expressed my joy of the game in the email, but this makes it official  ;)
