Hey gameboy it looks great.

One thing: You shouldn't change language on the posters for english version of the game.It is Welcome to Tallinn game so every thing should stay Estonian. It is not real thing to have english wanted posters in Estonian police department.

Except ofcourse if the text contains important clues! ;)

Looks nice Darth.

I did found a typo on the first page:
'If you're looking for profressional fonts'

profressional?  ;)

I'm going to have to agree on the roof, Altho since it is an out house I thought it was filled with something much more disgusting :P

also just personally i would like to see a reflection or two in the water

What do you guys suggest for the roof?

And reflections... makes sense, but I have no idea how I would add those.  ::)

Do you think a silhouet from one or two trees on the foreground would help this picture?

The water *is* better. What bugs me is water at upper left-  it's too plain there.

I see what you mean, will work on that!

Also, the little round wave/ripple thingies supporting posts generate, should be lighter, not darker than water below them.
But I strongly recommend not to draw them at all, but add as animations directly into game. With alpha disappearing effect, so the move away from post and disappear... would be cool.

Cool idea! Thanks.

But voting for other people is what people who don't want to win do. Are you suggesting we abstain? Cuz I can certainly do that. :)

This is as much a competition as it is to practice your skills. Don't be childish and just vote for the background you think is the best.

Edit:
My votes:
* Best Idea: Darth Mandarb

Uhm, not to be rude, but his head looks like a big potato!

Sorry, I know I talk too rude. But it's a good first attempt. It was better than mine when I drew one for the first time. By the way, the potato-style is not ment as ugly, but as funny ^_^. And the second try was a lot better than the first one.

I like the head, I even like the weirdly shaped head from the first version better! Gives it a weird style, not a figure like almost every game has..

Thanks ProgZmax! I took your advice and decided the only way I can learn is by trying it myself. I still havn't got the whole eggshape thing right but I hope I'm improving.

Good idea, you learn the most from trying yourself!

Some things:
- His shoulders.., the right shoulder is a but too sharp, I'd make it more like the left shoulder.
- In the side-view he looks kinda angry, instead of moping.

A newer version:

Thanks for all the comments. I worked on the image some more, hopefully it's a bit better now!

What I could use especially is some pointers on the path and the grass.

Tho.. what do you mean with the "evil flip horizontal" thing, I heard it before.. is it bad your character doesn't change if you flip em horizontal? and if yes.. why..

People aren't perfectly symmetrical, so it kinda looks unnatural if you draw a person with two identical sides.

That topic doesn't seem updated in ages.. Too bad, sounds like a cool game.

Jet, true, but I wouldn't call delaying an article several months 'creative differences'. I should have taken things in my hands way earlier, though.

Well, we don't know what the problems between you two were, but the way you wrote about it in your editorial is really unprofessional. Naming names in such a way is just not done.

now.. just to be curious, what means a WiP background?

WiP = Work in Progress

A work in progress: an outhouse I started drawing this evening.

I tried to use too many colours, as my usual characters also don't have too much colours. But it's very boring this way.
How do I make the wood, the path, and especially the water look more interesting?

Any other comments are also welcome ofcourse!

Edit: In this thread I posted characters, their not directly for this background, but that's the style of my characters, doesn't really fit with this background... :S

Helm, the links of the images don't seem to work, that is, they work, but I don't see the images you talk about.
