Didn't you allready had a remake almost finished?

Looks good.

You can use yellow and white dots as light for where the city is?

QuoteWhy don't you use guidelines? At least for ONCE?

That was unnecessary said. I DO use them, just not ALL the time, but I DO use the guidlines, so please, stop bugging me!

Well, you make the same mistake every edit, so yes, it is necessary. And if you don't want any criticism... don't post here.

The link isn't working for me.

General Discussion / Re: what is a good gui?

I like the Lucas Arts gui the best, especially with the statusbar. It feels like you control the actions if you see what's going to happen.
One problem is which verbs he include, the 'push' and 'pull' verbs are a bit redundant. Maybe a distinction between 'look' and 'examine' for the distinction between a glance, and a thorough inspection would be nice.

Coin Guis can work, but only if they work fast. In 'A Tale of Betrayal' for example had a 'slow' coin, and that bugged the hell out of me.

Another thing I like about the Lucas Arts guis is the fact that your inventory is always visible, so you can see at any moment which things you carry around.

I made a few changes.

I didn't change the face, somehow he loses his 'attitude' when I fiddle with it.

I added his other arm, changed his leg and changed the shading a bit.

I'm working on a talk cycle, but I have find a program to make animated pictures before I can post it here.

I'm not sure about the 'new' arm, but I don't want him to look like he's got just one. :D Any ideas?

Nice barren feel.

You could give the poles some shadow.

I changed the stands for the cannon and added the grate for the cargohold. Does those look correct?

The perpective of the grate is off. The top is parallel with the bottom, while it should be poting towards the vanishing point.

Remember that you can, at any time, form a team out of people already registered in this thread.

That's a good idea.

Anyone from the wild list want to join my team?

I signed up on the wild list for programming.

I totally agree. There is nothing more annoying than listening to a tune using headphones that is has a single explicit instrument or an explicit section of instruments panned to the far left/right. Very taxing. I feel like turning my head, shaking it to get the instrument to play towards the center, very annoying. Btw, have you guys noticed that this was always done in recordings from the 50s/60s? The vocals would always be on the left channel and the instruments would be on the right channel, or vice versa.

Yeah, they just 'discovered' stereo then, so they used a bit too much. :)

I find my problem is know when to use , than then , etc .. and spell checkers won't help with that .
My spelling is for the birds .  well birds can spell better then I can or is that than ..

'then' is used for time, 'than' is used for comparisons like 'bigger than' etc.

There should be a walkthrough supplied with the game download.

Critics' Lounge / Murphy: character sprite
Sun 02/01/2005 21:53:33
This is Murphy, a character I just drew.

I hope you can give me some critics that would help me improve him. Anything that's wonky or weird? Is the shading good enough? too big too small etc.

O'm not completely sure about the face especially,

#317
I could do programming. I haven't done much programming in AGS yet, but I work as a programmer, so you'd think I could learn to do that.  ;)

Otherwise I'd be willing to take a shot at storywriting.

I'm not completely satisfied, but it's been a while since I last made a background:

The picture looks really good. One thing though, the large planet seems not completelty round at the big green continent.

Nice.

Because of the drums I don't really see it as a middle ages kind of music... well, maybe when the main character in a more modern setting enters an ancient castle or something.

It got a mysterious ring to it. The strings aren't too loud in my opinion., btw.
