I second that motion - but if you look at the bottom and then the top it's pretty obvious that my style is almost the polar opposite. Is there any tut's on rocks/mountains/cliffs.

P.S. What's a good file type to save as because this *.gif is pretty naff

Critics' Lounge / B/W Western in colour!
Thu 01/07/2004 12:23:53
Hey! Now i've finished my exams i'm digging up this project - i have now totally decided against the B/W thing - after leaving it and coming back i thought it lookked crummy.

I'm gonna try stuff in colour but i'm not that great - here's something that i've pretty much left blank because i'm stuck. What i really need is help with the mountains/rocks. How do I do them? Are there any Tut's?

Advice, criticisms and PAINTOVERSÃ,  ;) very welcome

P.S = I just realised that gifs look crummy - i might post something better later

HOW?!

I too fall into McCartney beard zone - hair to my shoulders too.

I agree with Viktor, add more mouth shapes than simply  :o
You should also make the head bob up and down by about 1 pixel when he speaks....    perhaps?

Good Point DeathWing.
Good Point DeathWing.

I think the character is ace - really good. It's well drawn and has style - you know in a limb-missing, decapataion way.

Story also sounds cool - fundamenatly unoriginal, yet you've made it exciting somehow.
How will the character look once he has clothes?

Why does my version of 'The Gimp' (general drawing program) NOT have a line tool or a circle and square tool?
Do I have a really old version?
Does Gimp not have these tools all the time?
WHY??

Are there any other gimpers out there that know?

Here we go:

Next up: What am I gonna do with these extra arms now?!

His legs only go foreward - they don't go behind the really straight line of his coat. They should do.
Also I think the coat needs to flap in correlation with the bob of the character

Looks good...  :)
Looks VERY good ...  :D

I can't figure out if the colour leaking out of the lines adds or takes away from the image. I love the monitor - lovely shading - I mean REAL nice.
I can't figure out what is to the right of the desk - is that a dog's bowl? What's holding up the tabley thing above it?

The new b/g rocks.
I would say you should make the wheels bigger oin that van and move them closer towards the front and back of the vehical... Then you would be able to see the other front wheel on the far side - because now you can't and it kinda looks like it's floating.

I like it all though. Shading is cool. Angles look O.K.
Cool.

I think the black image is sooo much better than the first... But the blade might look nice white.
Plus I think the blood looks good aswel.
There's something missing though - there's too much space - the area between the options and the knife is dodgy. Perhaps if you were to stretch the words so the y fit the space

I think it looks decent enough already - except one one frame there is a black outline that appears and then disappears....

Hey.
Love the idea of cj's room in a game!

I was wondering (Because I've only been here about two months..) Do any of you guys know The Great Jones personaly? ... because to me (and probably lots of n00bs) he is just some legend who we hear about in passing - Does he ever grace the forums with his presence?

Just wondering.....

the trees/forrest in the background need to be more noticable - the leaves fade into the mountain.... looks good though

I like the back view a lot and the wlk/cycl is soo much better now... I don't like the eyes though - the glasses look wrong (He is wearing glasses right?) - the whites need to be bigger
