Hmm...maybe you have missed a step then ??? Okay, let's see...

1.
Spoiler
Have you been assigned to a mission yet?
[close]

2.
Spoiler
If not, you'd better do something about that.  (If so, go straight to Hint 7, if not, read on)
[close]

3.
Spoiler
Where's a good place to find 'help wanted' notices?
[close]

4.
Spoiler
How about the corkboard outside Trent's office?
[close]

5.
Spoiler
Look at all the messages there until you find one about the mission to Libria.
[close]

6.
Spoiler
Take it, go in and give it to Trent.  He'll tell you to go and get a disguise.
[close]

7.
Spoiler
When you come out of Trent's office, there should be a new message on the corkboard.
[close]

8.
Spoiler
It's towards the lower left.
[close]

9.
Spoiler
Either have Rosaline read it or tear it up (or both).
[close]

10.
Spoiler
You should now be able to ask Jo about contacting Preston.
[close]

Hope this helps :D

Hi
This problem with the game crashing when you come out of the tunnels, I found that when I changed to play as Sparkplug in the tunnels the game always crashed at the end when I was coming out but if I played as Rosemary all the way through then it didn't. Hope this helps.

*blinks* It does? *is puzzled* Wonder why...Thanks so much for pointing that one out though :D Fingers crossed it works better with Rosaline...

I'll do my best :) I know the error message; that's how I know it's not a scripting error; there's no MoveCharacter command on either of those rooms and there certainly isn't one in that area of the script.  I'll try and see if I can get a save game worked out though :) Thanks for your comments; it's great to know people are enjoying it ;D

hi

BIG PROBLEMO!

when i go into tunnel for the second time and exit the game crashes.

you gotta help me.

im getting stressed out about this.

To be honest, I don't think there's anything I can do about the crashing; like I've said, it seems to be a bug in the engine rather than the script.  For some reason, the tunnel system seems to set it off.  I'm not sure if you've done this or not but if you want to know how to get shot of the tunnels once and for all, read on (and again, like I said in earlier posts, save the game before exiting...)

1.
Spoiler
You only need to go through the tunnels once more, to get to another place.
[close]

2.
Spoiler
What did the Cleric say happened?
[close]

3.
Spoiler
He mentioned an attack by the Tetra Grammaton.  Whereabouts are they located?
[close]

4.
Spoiler
You need to get back to Libria.
[close]

5.
Spoiler
Go back into the tunnel system, tell Sparkplug to find Libria and follow him.
[close]

6.
Spoiler
It's north of the ladder leading back into the room with the trapdoor; you're looking for a metal ladder.
[close]

Quote from: shax on Tue 06/04/2004 22:41:58BUT!  theres more stuckage. after emerging from the tunnel i chat to the cleric then get shot down by the sweepers. what do i do?

*happy sigh* Ah, UHS...we have so much to thank them for LOL! 8) As to what to do...read on:

1.
Spoiler
Did you read what it said on your death scene?
[close]

2.
Spoiler
The sweepers followed you through the tunnel system.
[close]

3.
Spoiler
If only there was some way you could stop them coming out...
[close]

4.
Spoiler
Maybe if you had something to block the hole?
[close]

5.
Spoiler
What about the painting? (Roz took it when she emerged; it should be in your inventory)
[close]

6.
Spoiler
As soon as you come out of the tunnel system and arrive in the Underground, click the painting on the hole.
[close]

7.
Spoiler
Rosaline will slot it back into place.  You should now be able to talk to the Cleric and get out again in safety.

One little tip (again, not sure if you've read any of the previous posts and probably don't need to tell you but just in case...;)) the instant you do manage to get safely out, save the game; it's a lot more dangerous when you get out of the tunnel system ;) Also, the same error occurs when you leave it for the second time to go somewhere else...just thought I'd warn you to try and avoid too much frustration :)

Quote from: Oneiro_Farseer on Tue 06/04/2004 20:39:29What does 'eventually' mean? I've tried to exit the tunnel so many times... considering I just counted my most recent attempt at 15 goes, I must have tried at least 40 or 50 times by now.   :o:(

I'm honestly not sure.  Like I said, it seems to be a problem in the engine rather than the script (I've double and triple checked it; this isn't a copout on my part) It seems to be totally random; when testing I got through on the fourth or fifth go ???

Hi Ida!  Glad I could help; I'm a big fan of UHS-style hints :P I know how annoying it is to suddenly find you've read more than you wanted to ;) Anyways...about that post...

1.
Spoiler
If Rosaline has actually read the notice about Preston's assassination, you haven't missed any steps.
[close]

2.
Spoiler
Go back to the Resistance hideout and talk to Jo.
[close]

3.
Spoiler
Ask her about being an accommodations officer.
[close]

4.
Spoiler
Then ask her for Preston's phone number.
[close]

5.
Spoiler
Jo can't remember the number offhand, but she does give you the address.
[close]

6.
Spoiler
Where's a good place to look up addresses and phone numbers?
[close]

7.
Spoiler
How about that phone book outside the canteen?
[close]

8.
Spoiler
Once you have Preston's number, go to the payphone and call him.  Keep talking until Rosaline puts the phone down on him.
[close]

Hope this helps you!

Nostradamus...I'm not sure how far through you are or what you have, but I'll do the best I can :)

1.
Spoiler
If you have the shovel, you must have been in the right room.
[close]

2.
Spoiler
It's the one where you see a message about 'how dark it is back here'.
[close]

3.
Spoiler
From the screen with the payphone, go right one screen and down one screen.
[close]

4.
Spoiler
The rubble you need to move is on the right hand side of the screen, blocking your path to the east.

Hi Shax

1.
Spoiler
Have you gone back to explore the Nethers?
[close]

2.
Spoiler
What about the beach?
[close]

3.
Spoiler
Go to the beach and talk to Mark.
[close]

4.
Spoiler
Then go into the Resistance building and talk to Luke.
[close]

5.
Spoiler
He'll give you a key.  You should then be able to open the trapdoor and enter the tunnel system.
[close]

Ida...(UHS-hints underneath :P)

1.
Spoiler
Have you explored every room in the Nethers and talked to everyone?  If so, you should know what to do with the gun.
[close]

2.
Spoiler
Where did Luke say the entrance to the Underground was?
[close]

3.
Spoiler
Through the kennels.  Seen anywhere recently that could pass for that?
[close]

4.
Spoiler
How about that room with the dog in it?
[close]

5.
Spoiler
Rosaline won't go near the dog.  You'll need to find some way of distracting him.
[close]

6.
Spoiler
What do all dogs like?
[close]

7.
Spoiler
How about a bone?
[close]

8.
Spoiler
There's a bone hidden in one of the rubble piles (the same room where you cleared that massive pile away)
[close]

9.
Spoiler
Give the bone to the dog, then walk through the kennels to the Underground entrance.
[close]

Hope this helps :)

Brilliant; got it! :D Thanks!

I've added three new buttons/interactions to the interaction GUI-Smell, Listen and Sense (replacing Inventory, Recently Used Inventory and Help).  I'd like the player to be able to cycle through them by right clicking, but when I try, it only goes through Walk, Look, Interact and Talk, then back to Walk.  How can I get it to cycle through the others as well? ???

Spoiler
Yes, it's the end (it should say that at the end of the messages; it's the only time in the game that it will) Getting away from the Vice-Council...well, just shoot the fax machine and the Resistance will take care of the rest.  (And yes, I know it's an abrupt ending, but it does tie in very nicely with the sequel, so please don't flame me too much about it :))

Glad it works :D For UHS-style hints, highlight on...(viva UHS!!!) ;)

(Note: There is a similar bug a little later on in the game; basically save whenever you enter or leave the tunnel system and you should be fine.  I never found it anywhere else besides those two places.)

Spoiler
What did the cleric say happened in the Underground?
[close]

Spoiler
He mentioned that the Tetra Grammaton had attacked.
[close]

Spoiler
Whereabouts are they located?
[close]

Spoiler
Go back into the tunnel system and ask Sparkplug to take you to Libria (Don't worry; his nose will work fine on this one ;))
[close]

Spoiler
The entrance to the city of Libria is north of the trapdoor exit/entrance.  Go one screen north and climb the metal ladder there.
[close]

Hope this helps some :)

I'm not sure what it is, to tell the truth.  I had it once or twice in testing; sometimes it did it and sometimes it didn't, and nothing I did seemed to make the slightest bit of difference.  There's no MoveCharacter command at all in that room (or on line 55 of the script) and I was never able to work out what caused it.  If you save the game just before exiting the tunnels and keep going back, you should get through, but it might take a few gos.  (Advance warning; something similar happens when you go back to Libria later on, so you might want to save again then :))

EDIT--I just went back in and double checked both that room and the final tunnel room.  There's no MoveCharacter function at all, and line 55 of the global script deals with cursor modes.  Like I said, it will work eventually; it's just a little frustrating to have to keep going back so sorry about that :( (On the plus and purely selfish side, at least it wasn't a programming error on my part :P)  Also, I'm really glad you're enjoying the game! :D:D:D

Hi Maggie

I went back to double-check found a slight blooper in the tunnel system; Sparkplug can get you to the penultimate room and then his nose seems to shut down :( Highlight the area below to find the safe way.

Hey dude, I know this is off-topic, but I just wanted to say I love the sig! Everytime I see it I crack up. "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead" is an awesome play!

LOL!  Thanks.  To be honest, I haven't even seen it yet (though it's on my list of top ten); I was playing Quote It on another board and someone came up with this one and it cracked me up :D

Hi Maggie :) Getting to Libria is one of those ones that is a little tricky unless you've seen the movie.  For hints, keep reading (I do UHS style hints; largely why this is so long ;))

1.
Spoiler
Have you double-checked the corkboard outside Trent's office?
[close]

2.
Spoiler
Notice anything new?  Like that message concerning the assassination on Preston?
[close]

3.
Spoiler
That assassination must not go through.
[close]

4.
Spoiler
Since you've no idea who the assassin is, you can't stop it yourself.  You'll have to think of something else.
[close]

5.
Spoiler
What if you were to warn Preston in advance?   You'll need someone who can give you his contact details, though.  Someone who knows a lot about Librian accommodations.
[close]

6.
Spoiler
Talk to Jo in the Resistance hideout.  Then go to the Underground and look up the address she gives you to get Preston's telephone number.
[close]

7.
Spoiler
Call Preston from the phone situated just north of the beach.  Warn him about the assassination and keep talking until Rosaline puts the phone down on him.
[close]

8.
Spoiler
Go back and talk to Trent.  Tell him you're ready to go and you should be taken to Libria.

Yep, it's finally finished and you can download it from http://www.freewebs.com/equilibrium-movie/EQGame.zip !  (For some reason, linking didn't work; the only way to get it from here is to copy and paste the above into your browser; it seems to be a freewebs thing :( Zipped it's about 1.3MB but the opened version is about 8 in total.  One little note; this is a fan adventure game based on the movie Equilibrium, so if you haven't seen this, one or two things may not make much sense to you :) Just thought I'd mention that.  It's my first game, so please be tactful :) Hope you enjoy it! :D
