Just start a new Colouring ball topic. ;)
Don't forget to post some rules (if you want there to be any), the deadline-date and the outline of course.

Okay, time is up. Let's announce the winners *drum roll*

1st place:

Captain Ricco! Technical, this is the best entry, imo. And some really nice ideas for the shape, pretty funny. Very nice job! But with great power, there always comes great responsibility: So you have to continue this competition!

2nd place:

Darius Poyer! This was so close...but ultimately Ricco won, because he had 2 awesome entries. Nevertheless, yours is brilliant. :D

3rd place:

I just can't decide. The two winners obviously stuck out from the rest.
So I will make it this way: Everybody else who attended and feels like a winner, is allowed to take the 3rd place trophy. ;)

This was fun! I hope everybody enjoyed it as much as I did. I'm already looking forward to Captain Riccos competition, I'm sure I'll attend.

Cheers!

This competition is closing tomorrow, if anyone still wants to participate, hurry up. :)

Lucas and Spielberg are there for a purpose! And it's not, because I'm a great fan of the recent work of both, but the opposite. You'll see when the demo is done ;).
#25
What is happening here? Such a mass of *great* entries, in just 24 hours? I really hope this competition keeps growing like this until the deadline :).
Keep em coming!!!11!!1einself1

Oh, Questionable.
I'm sorry to tell you, but that entry isn't valid. The rules clearly say "Pixel-Art", and this is not. I know, I'm such a party pooper. Maybe you just do another one? ;)
But hey, 2 (okay, 1) entries today, awesome. Keep em coming!
#27
Mh, it's kinda finished:

Thank you for all the comments so far! C&C are still welcome, though. You never stop to learn.

Okay, here's the next round of the Colouring Ball!

The rules are simple:

  • do not paint over the outline, stay inside of it
  • flip or rotate the form as you want, but don't change it any further
  • the palette is not restricted, but keep it Pixel-Art this time
  • have fun

    Here's the shape:

And no, it's not the second biggest monkey head outline you've ever seen.

Oh, and there will be nice trophies! So enter! NOW!

    1st: 2nd: 3rd:

Yay! Thank you, Bulbapuck!
And cheers to everyone, who entered. I loved the Tintin :>
I'll start a new Colouring Ball asap ;).

LOL. He's supposed to look cheesy, so I'm not to bothered by that  ;). In fact, he looks 100% like this:  :=
#31
You are right, a teammate also mentioned this :). Anyway here's an updated version, but the only thing I did so far was editing Steven Spielberg's face and removing the lens flare. I'll try messing with the whole composition later.

#32
Haha Gilbet, that's exactly the direction we are going with our little demo. It's going to be parodistic, and the poster is not to be taken serious, too. I just wanted Spielberg and Lucas to look a bit stupid there :).
#33
Thanks all!
@ Andail: Spielberg and Lucas are there for a purpose :). They say much about the story, at least of our (tech-)demo, which is only a few rooms. But you are right, on almost all Indy Posters there is at least on action scene.
@GarageGothic: Thanks! And yeah, I'm afraid that's a lens flare ;). I was a bit lazy, to be honest. Maybe you are right about the outlines, too. They only look so dark (esp. on Spielberg), because the glow of the box is so bright.

Thanks again @ you all! You really help me.
#34
Lol, I didn't know where the box was from. I just found it while looking for a cool box design. Is it to obvious? If s, I'd change that xD

Edit: hey anian, that's alot of hints! Thank you very much. Especially the frame should be a done.

Critics' Lounge / Indiana Jones Fangame Poster
Sun 28/03/2010 18:40:21
Hey folks, I always got helpful advice from you here, so I think it's worth a try.

I did this Poster for my Indiana Jones fangame (the demo, to be exact) the other day and just wanted to know what you think. Some might remember that Indy, I posted him here some time ago.
Is the composition alright? To empty? Etcetera. ;)

Thank you!

Nice topic!

Inspiration was the song "My Propeller" by the Arctic Monkeys. It's awesome live :).
Anyway, one part is:

"It's a necessary evil
No cause for emergency
Borrow the beak of a bald eagle
Oh, momentary synergy"

So I painted myself borrowing that bald eagle's beak... complete rubbish, I know :D

Hey Basti, use this:

http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=38874.0

It's a template, so you build your game on top of it. It's the best thing out there, believe me :)

The on_event function works wonderfull! Thanks!
#39
Hey, it's me again.

I have a popup inventory, and when I press the right button of my mouse (no matter where on the inventory screen, if over inventory items or not) the inventory is supposed to be closed.
However, clicks on the inventory on places where no items are (on the empty spots) are not handled by eMouseRight and not with eMouseRightInv.
So my inventory only closes right now, when I right-click any item...

Is there any thing I can do about it?

Thanks!

That did it, thanks. It's not a full animation, but it looks ok. Anyway, somehow I couldn't get this working in the 3.2 Beta. It worked fine in the 3.1.2 SP1 however.
