Yes, glad to hear you're ok.

What the hell is it with all this storms/tornedo's etc lately??? Global Warming?

Just played it!

Made me chuckle, especially the actual opening logo screen voice-over :D

I can see the funny side in the voice of the moose but it's sometimes a little hard to understand.

Apart from that, very playable!

Thanks Nikolas!

The music is one of the things I wanted to be as professional and as atmospheric as possible - as you know, music can make or break a game.

The music used is free/no-licence music found on the net. The sound effects though are actually me.

Peter's gentle trampling on the leaves is in fact me crunching up a piece of paper in front of a mic and modifying it in Sound Forge.

The loud 'bang' on the STRANDED title was me making a loud 'DOOFF!!!' noise into a mic and slowing down the pitch and adding reverb in Sound Forge. Getting the timing right on everything was a challenge but I'm gald I pulled it off, judging by some of the comments about certain scenes.

There we go!!!

Now we're cooking, turn it up! :D

Cheers Gilbot!

If this has been brought on by me I sincerely apologise. But I have to agree with Andail on them being outdated and perhaps not that useful.

I like the seperate thread for each 'section' idea.

That's the thing. The player'll be in control of the character while his legs are off-screen, hence he's off the walkable area  ???

I think the whole redrawing half of the character is the way forward unfortunately unless there's any otfer possible solutions?

I'm putting out an audition for the part of Peter Reeve, the main character in STRANDED.

(See http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=23155.0 for details on the game)

If anyone fancies been in it, then send me a ZIP containing a load of JPG's of yourself in a plain white shirt and dark tie, trousers and shoes and in various walking frames. You don't have to walk left AND right. Just walk one way or the other as the image can easily be mirrored.

This is what I'll need if you're interested: -

- Frames of you walking from left to right
- Frames of you walking to AND from the camera
- Frames of you bending down and pretending to pick up something like a key
- Frames of you from the side pretending to open a door

Snapshots must be 640x480 and of a reasonable quality.

SERIOUS applicants only please as I might need a few more shots later.

Your name would obviously be featured in the credits.

My email is:

darrenjohnson@onetel.net

Here's a picture of me - I'm not in a suit or anything but just want opinions on whether or not I could pull it off myself, I don't think I could personally:

This is what I'll need if you're interested: -

- Frames of you walking from left to right
- Frames of you walking to AND from the camera
- Frames of you bending down and picking up nothing
- Frames of you pretending to open a door

Snapshots must be 640x480 and of a reasonable quality.

SERIOUS applicants only please as I might need a few more shots later.

Your name would obviously be featured in the credits.

I don't think you should touch it up. Just get it posted if you've put the time and effort to create it in the first place :)

Have you tried opening this converted BMP in any paint program and it works fine?
#35
I think I'll stick to the first option, lol. That sounds a little too complicated when the same effect can probably be achieved through doing what you first mentioned.

Thanks for the tips and advice though, I appreciate that.

If there's no other way to do it then I guess it'll have to be this way.

Thanks Scummbuddy, much appreciated. :)

Thanks Mozesh! I know that bit doesn't need any re-doing lol.

Here's a test screen with a 'real' person on. I just got the guy off the internet, I don't know who he is but it's only to see if it looks better than drawn 'cartoony' characters.

I know what I think.
#38
Is it possible to have a walkable area off-screen? i.e. I want a really close up shot of my character but his legs are off screen because the floor is out of view.
#39
I'll tell you what REALLY bothers me in adventure games -

When you're trying to get in a door and the character says 'it's locked'. I think 'well just kick the goddam door in!!!' lol

Yeah, it's something I'm definately going to consider. I suppose it'd kind of be like Gabriel Knight II.

Anyhow, here's another screenshot for you all :)
