We're still working on ours...not sure if we will need an extension or not, but I needed to come online to get the assets and there was a site upgrade being done..... and the next time I was part of the mass false spam ban :) But regardless we do plan on submitting a game

I didn't plan on participating by myself this month, but I'm willing to handle the art side if you or someone else wants to collaborate.

Definitely interested in collaborating to make a game, do you have Discord?

Actually, around this era starting with the next game, even the windows versions of the game are starting to have muffled music, I don't know why they aren't playing nice with my actual era PC but I may have to start recording them on modern hardware.

Edit: I'm going to use XP for the windows games, since it seems the games run much smoother on XP, but I'd like to run the DOS games on a system that can run actual DOS.

I am having technical issues with some of these old games in Windows 98. Trying to run the DOS versions of the games in windows mode is giving me an error about a sprite file missing, or not enough memory, and trying to run it in DOS is crashing the game. Up until now, when I have had a game refuse to run like this, there has been another version that still ran, or tweaking the settings got it to run, but not this one.

The best I have been able to get with this particular game (Monty on the Norm) running in DOSBox, however, I cannot confirm if this game is supposed to have music, because if so, it's not playing it.

Video of the error:

Oh, I did not see the link on the main page, thanks.

The archive.org version of The Repossessor v1 is missing a sprite file, does anyone have a working version?
#108
It was a lot of work but I finally got all of the games downloaded. Would there be interest in me posting a .zip of them on dropbox or something to save people time who would want to download them in bulk?
#109
Thanks, though, there isn't anything wrong per say with the modern version, just it was released in 2017 and I plan on playing them on my old computer.

ROTN site's download page only had the new version

Have these been archived somewhere? I want a version of III Spy that will run in windows 98. Possibly others that I have missed.

I enjoyed Bad to the Coral too, drawing a bunch of trash looked fun!  I really wanted to assign nets to hotkeys for net-size (1-3?) but that might make it too intense :D

I agree with this 100%, if there was a version 1.01 or something that's definitely something that should be added

These are 2 very different games, will be interesting to see how the vote goes.

Hi,

I've been programming since I was in elementary school where I learned QBASIC. I find it a bit hard to get going on my own projects because I am not an artist or a writer and so trying to do those things takes me a long time. But, I would love to collaborate on someone's project as a programmer. I do not have completed projects, but I have messed around with the editor and things like that.

I mostly just want something to show in a portfolio and don't care about the money aspect if the game is noncommercial, unless you are planning to make money on your project then we can discuss that. Also interested in coding for a MAGS.

My discord is karajokalinowski and I am also on the AGS discord. I'll probably see messages there faster than here, but I'll check my private messages here, too.

Quote from: Babar on Wed 06/11/2024 08:22:58@VampireWombat : I feel a bit dumb, but I can't get to the screen you shared in the screenshot. I don't see any interactable except the AC unit, and the edges of the screens don't go anywhere?

Spoiler
On the left edge of the screen is a hotspot, for some reason you have to use the hand icon to move between locations

Well I didn't consider that solution because
Spoiler
I swear I tried it earlier and it did nothing, and it also doesn't solve the problem of plugging it in, because I don't see any hotspots to do that. Also reported to Babar on discord but if you walk off the screen with plug in hand it's a soft lock because she doesn't put it back :P

So I'll keep trying from here but I still have no idea how to do that thing mentioned.

Never mind, found it.

I had fun with this game! Well done!

Something weird happened to me. After I entered the 2nd room past the lasers, and then did so again with the 2nd character, then switched back to the first character, I was unable to walk around anymore. I figured out that the walk function had switched to the right mouse button instead of the left button. I was also unable to left click to select inventory items anymore. Whatever the problem was, it persisted after a save + load. But I wasn't able to replicate it after restarting the game.

Quote from: pell on Fri 01/11/2024 02:14:36@jfrisby Those are some beautiful screenshots. I can't wait to play it.

Thank you @Stupot . We wouldn't have made it for midnight anyway. I've gotten a lot done in the past twenty-four hours, but my perfectionism is slowing me down. That and not cutting things out of the game like I should have done. Now maybe we can keep at least most of heltenjon's script.

Here's what I got done in the last 24 hours, not including sketches for scenes and props that I still need to get to.

Quote from: jwalt on Thu 18/01/2024 15:38:04Just completed a playthrough of what I've been working on, and it seems playable. Still needs tweaking, but I'm headed for a finish line. Even managed to bumble into a couple of puzzles, and an alternate ending. Unfortunately, the story arc still leaves Josh and Davy stranded in the alternate dimension. Didn't initially intend to create an episodic adventure, but that's where it is taking me. Some good things about that, and some bad things about that. I really don't know what's next. So, I'll have to wait for the announcement of Feb's MAGS topic, it appears.

An episodic mags seems interesting, maybe I should steal that idea.

Hues of the Haunt

A visual novel (demo)
Download v.0.5 here

Following a car accident, a young woman wakes up in a small town, picturesque but strangely silent and still. It turns out that leaving the place may not be so easy...

A game made in the style of the Japanese visual novels, a genre that became popular in the late 90s. I had a lot of fun coding the layout!
I think I have squished most bugs, but had no testers so do save often.

Music on/off and sound on/off buttons don't do anything as there's no music or sound. Single slot save/restore. You can switch between slow and fast skipping style by clicking the bottom left button in the settings GUI (top left corner). Slow skipping is recommended if you have tendency to accidentally double click. Fast skipping is ideal when replaying the game.

Also, just curious, are you planning to make a full version of the game?

Spoiler
oh, what's the issue? it doesn't work, right clicking the phone and selecting the first app? the chat might take a second to load though. i couldn't reproduce it on my end.
[close]

Spoiler
Two endings encountered, so far: returning home and buying replacements, and getting caught in the room with the phones. In the saved game that stopped working, the phone screen comes up, but doesn't display any of the four options. It's just dead. Didn't act like that outside that one game. May not be a real problem? Maybe my batteries are dead. ;-)

Edit 4 of 5 possible endings:
Spoiler
So, have now played 4 of 5 possible endings, including the "original" one. If that last keypad puzzle is supposed to be working, I note clicking on the ladder up to the final manhole will bypass the puzzle, which I couldn't seem to get to work, anyway. Had the wire cutters and info from the second color chart, but it didn't seem to work the way I thought it should.

Think you should be pretty proud of your game! And I liked the music, as well.

For the 5th ending:
Spoiler
Two of the endings basically have repeats with/without the headphones
