No problem! It's a great entry, very DOTT-esque.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who submitted an entry! Happy to see such a great turnout, especially that it is the first Blitz since over a year.
Picking a favourite may be really difficult this time...

Entry galore below:

Voting:
Concept: your background should tell us something about the place you have depicted.
Playability: does it have clearly defined walkable areas, things to interact with, etc?
Artistic Execution: does the image convey the wanted atmosphere? What's the feeling of the place?

Voting closes on the 6th of October.

Trophies coming soon!

Sure, bring it in. I'll pretend I forgot to close it ;)

Looks sweet, Creamy! It's so consistently unreal that it looks like a snapshot from an uncanny dream.

Big THANK YOU to everyone who submitted the entries! Background Blitz is now officially alive again :)

The voting phase is open until the 6th of October.

Cassie doing pixel, cool! ;) Thanks for getting another entry in.
The noisy texture actually creates quite an interesting effect. Very nice!

As VW said, there's still a few hours left if anyone else is working on an entry.
#385
Still open indeed, thanks guys for your submissions. I was planning to keep this open until around midnight CST.

Flugeldufel, that looks awesome! It has a strong classic LucasArts vibe, super adventuregamey. And I love the texture you produced for the rocks.

VampireWombat, glad you managed to deliver your entry after all! Pure pixel art or not, that's one gloomy piece of art. Nice job with the foggy silhouettes in the background, it adds a really creepy feel to the picture.

cat, it's lovely! It does have that subtle Nintendo air as VW pointed out. So beautiful.
#387
If that's what you call "technically started" then maybe not...

Klik & Play, oh wow. I even forgot it existed, thanks for bringing back the memories! Congrats on finishing your first game, too.

Post a WiP then, VW. I'm curious what you have come up with.

cat, good luck with yours!

Hi Reiter, welcome and congratulations on completing your first MAGS.

Google drive will do just fine for uploading your game if you maintain an account there. There are plenty alternatives to Google too, e.g. http://tinyupload.com/ (if your game is under 50MB) or https://www.filedropper.com/ (up to 5GB).

It might also be a good idea to add the game to AGS database so it qualifies for the annual AGS Awards.

Good luck in the competition!

DBoy, thanks for the submission. I'm sure the background would seen a use especially if you added some more details to make it more interesting.

Three days left everyone!

My immediate thought was that she looks very modern. Someone with a better background in Victorian era history might want to correct me here, but I do believe that even if she was of the more emancipated lot who would wear trousers and endorse outdoors activities, she would still usually sport a hat. Also, the late 19th century clothes tended to be more bulky and they would rather conceal the body curves.
#393
You didn't, life obligations rarely care about how cool a MAGS theme is ;)
#394
I'm trying to put something together because the theme is just too sweet to ignore. I only started yesterday but I got some help so it's not completely unlikely. I'm set to keep it brief :)
#395
Thank you for this.
#396
It's beautiful, lorenzo. Love the colours you used, especially for the mountain range in the distance.

Durq, do try it! Getting inspired to create a piece of art regardless of your skill level is what this competition is all about, in my view.

I meant to get you guys some feedback for quite some time now, sorry it took so long.
Here it is:

Mr Bear Teaches English
Spoiler
Very well executed and entertaining, the latter being somewhat of a feat given that it is a learning game for kids! The idea fits the theme perfectly, the graphics and voice acting are cute and the whole concept is just lovely. I'm certainly going to test it on our kid when he's born :) It would be lovely if there was some kind of an extra once all hats from a category are clicked, or if there was a chance for something special to pop up from a random hat to surprise the kid playing the game.

Mystery Meat Mayhem
Spoiler
The style is nice and the beginning was really promising, but then the storyline went haywire. I do fully understand that you were planning a larger scope for the game and that you only released it so early to let cat and the team have some competition (and as the votes show, the competition was decent), so I viewed it as a sort of an interactive trailer for a larger project and as such it was a good effort.

Mr Bear. Great job cat and team! Congratulations on winning the competition, too.

Okay then... It's longer than an average BB would last but let's make an exception as it's the first one since over a year ago ;)
I have changed it now so that everyone has a fair chance.
#399
Fingers crossed for your entries, guys. I can always do a small extension if needed.

Awesome, looking forward to it!
