Happy belated birthday, Mandle!

(Also, forgot to add... if this tendency continues, I feel people will start lynching me on Day 1 by default just in case :D)

How I imagine Kastchey right now:

Frankly speaking it did kind of feel like that... I was constantly on edge, considering the possible outcomes and figuring out what was the best possible way to get out of each of them. This game gets into my head WAY too much :<
It was taxing, but also super cool at the same time.

OH MY GOD, I'm bloody useless at this game. That's twice I've stuffed it up, now. (roll)
No you're not! In fact, if you weren't good at this game this whole scheme wouldn't have worked. Whilst I admit that I was selective with the information I gave you and that anything that could have led you to a different version I avoided like plague, your conclusions were perfectly logical. It was simply an alternative that could have happened, and it didn't last long either - it didn't even take you an hour to realise there was another possibility.

I have to agree with that one, it was stressful, even for me. When I looked at the votes yesterday they were pretty clear and then you all change them and then you nearly change them again so close to the end. Makes writing a bit difficult.
I can imagine! I bet we were driving you nuts there when you were secretly observing us, trying to write the phase end narration and we'd keep wrecking everything :D And as always, thank you for the wonderful narration, Wheel of Fate. I think everyone takes it for granted by now given that you never fail to deliver, but I felt like I needed to say it again.

PS - I don't think the Psychic should be alowed his last scan, since he technicaly was lynched during the day time.
The way I understand it, if the Psychic is lynched they do not get to scan anyone the following night. The question was more likely related to the Psychic being killed by the scum. And as far as I have read threads on other forum WW games that use journals, the Psychic is usually allowed to deliver the results of the last scan as it is assumed that the actions take place simultaneously (i.e. everyone who is alive by the time the phase starts is allowed to fully use their powers). So I agree with what Riaise said, I think the Psychic should be allowed to put the scan results into their last words. There is of course the technical difficulty of communication and timing - if the night phase results are supposed to be revealed simultaneously to everyone, the Psychic kind of has the upper hand by knowing part of it slightly earlier than others. But then again, if the Psychic is killed they are no longer allowed to communicate with other players, so perhaps it wouldn't matter as much. Alternatively, the GM could perhaps chime in with "another page" of the journal during the day phase as soon as the killed Psychic comes online and declares they want the scan results added to their last words.

When I used to play hardcore we sometimes played on a seperate board and everyone signed in with different nicknames so we didn't know who was playing or who each other were in RL for this kind of reason. Made for a disturbing new level of paranoia and you had to be careful of your writing "tells" or try to copy someone elses.)
Damn, that is awesome! Of course, some of us know each other well enough to be able to tell from the style alone who is who, but it's always easier when it's in your head than when it's really happening. Anyway like you said, this kind of thing brings paranoia to an entirely new level. I think I'd like to play such a game one day.

Quote from: Riaise on Sun 05/05/2019 20:06:23
I was thinking about future scenarios and I thought it could be fun to do one where we turn the roles on their head, so the "good" team are actually bad and the "scum" are actually good. Something like the "town" are a criminal gang, and the "scum" are undercover police officers who have infiltrated the gang. The "doctor" could be a bodyguard of sorts and the "psychic" could be a hacker, or something along those lines, who can look up people's files. The "deaths" could be a player's home being raided and them being taken to jail, while lynchings would stay pretty much the same. It could make for an interesting change in the way the game is played.
I think this is a fantastic idea. It feels very fresh and with the right theme, it could make for an excellent story.
As for the story by the way, this came to my mind still whilst we were still playing but I didn't want to go off topic before the game ended. How about a game taking place in a creepy hospital? Perhaps even the 19th century style "lunatic asylum"?

RIIIIIIIAAAAAAIIIISSSSSSEEEEE!!!  (laugh) (laugh) (laugh)
Actually, I applaud Riaise for figuring it all out at the very end, even if her willpower ran out and she gave up trying. You guys, all three of you, got us REALLY nervous at the end.
#425
Before I start replying to Sini's questions with my thoughts....

Mandle and Riaise, I am so very, very sorry for tricking you. I really am. If that counts for anything, I felt like an ass this entire time.

If Mandle is scum, then PP clearly isn't. Which means that either Kastchey or VW is. If it's VW then why, when I am clearly wavering here, is he sticking to his original vote and throwing Mandle under the bus? He could have easily changed his vote by now to convince me to change mine. So that leaves Kastchey as scum. But why would Kastchey bother getting in touch with me in the first place when the vote was already going their way?

The only conclusion I can come to now is that Mandle isn't scum. And given VW's reluctance to switch his vote back, I'd have to guess that he is, along with PP.

What does everyone else have to say about this theory?
Frankly speaking, VampireWombat's voting makes my head spin. If you are doing this on purpose, VW, then kudos to you...

If Mandle is innocent and VampireWombat is working with Privateer Puddin', then he must have thrown him under the bus earlier after I followed Mandle's PM. If Mandle is innocent and I am working with Privateer Puddin', then I must have done the same before. If Mandle is innocent and Riaise is working with Privateer Puddin', then her initial reluctance to lynch PP would make sense but then again they'd have to have been really lucky with me reaching out to Riaise.

If Mandle is guilty and VampireWombat is working with him, then the only thing I can think of that would explain VW jumping on the bandwagon is that having learned the psychic's identity, they could have decided to kill him and block the last scan, then hope to fool the remaining person.

I only had one scan because I missed the first night due to RL busy-busy. And when I got the info on PP on the second night I sent it straight out to Kastchey. He can verify how fast I sent it out.
I can confirm that you sent the message to me half past 3 am UK time which would have been, if I'm not mistaken, 11:30 am your time?
I understand the time differences and this might have been just after you woke up, but I cannot really verify how fast you sent out that information basing just on that...
#428
Okay... so me and Riaise have talked things through and came to a common conclusion that our enemy is elsewhere.

Mandle, I genuinely think you are a wonderful person outside of the tactical battle, but what you say makes most sense if you are lying and are on the evil team.

There are some reasons to doubt what Privateer Puddin' said as well, but he is making a more compelling case so...

Vote to lynch: Mandle

(PS. I trust Riaise, but if it turns out she does not deliver her vote for any reason then I will change mine back to Privateer Puddin' to avoid canceling the lynch, as no lynch would have ended in a 2-2 scenario and the only certain way for the scum to win)
#429
Thanks VW... I was whipping up that post on a dying phone in between work so I forgot to bold my vote.

Vote to lynch: Privateer Puddin'

And no, I don't know if it is best, not really. I may have done the wrong call, because it would be awfully convenient for the scum team to contact a random person now to accuse someone else, given there is only 3 of us, 2 of which are Passengers so we have no rational way to figure out who is lying and who is telling the truth. But if I am to be blamed for losing the game for the good team, then so be it...

I was just going to post my message when I saw PP's post.
I hope you really are a shifter, PP, because this just made me feel bad :/

I mean, not bad in the way that I feel offended by your lynch vote because if you are not scum and I'm being played, then you have all the reasons to suspect me.
I'll think about this a bit more because your comment about Josiah makes sense to me, but as I said, everyone can say anything they like at this point so if anything, I feel I kind of suck at this game.
#430
This is no longer needed, VW, because I have been contacted by someone claiming to be the psychic and they revealed a shifter's name to me.

I am not 100% sure if I can trust this person because as it was repeatedly said, anyone can claim anything at this point, so if you are innocent, Privateer Puddin', and I'm being stupid then I really do apologise.

But yes, I got whispered by a claimed psychic that this is the person we should lynch and I feel we have little else to go ahead with.
#431
God, the stench... I think I'm gonna puke.
*shuts the door to the med bay*

I think that with the shifters around, if he had said he was a doctor and asked me to follow him to the med bay so he could help me, I would have freaked out. I think I'm getting jumpy...

OOC: I'm not necessarily saying that you aren't a Passenger, VW, but since there are two Passengers, four of us could claim to be Passengers and we'd be none the wiser...

Oh, you should know that you can choose two characters at a time.  :-[
Wait, wut? You can actually do that?  8-0 :-D

Also Jack, I forgot to mention this earlier but
Spoiler
when I was playing Tanya for the first time, I managed to aggro three robots at the same time in the second location. I didn't manage to kill any fast enough so they brought me down, but my HP would keep regenerating. I presume this might have been intended, but I entered an endless loop where my character would keep trying to stand up but immediately get gunned down again before I managed to shoot anything. It wasn't a big deal because I was happy to restart and proceed more carefully next time, but if you plan to expand this game in the future perhaps consider adding a second or two of immortality after a character recovers?

TRAVELERS by LostTrainDude
Spoiler
This is such a nostalgic concept, and I loved the beautiful descriptions. Of course as you said, it is a prototype and there is no actual gameplay in a sense that there are no goals to complete, so the game does indeed lose purpose gradually the more you play it, but it was lovely nonetheless. Do you intend to use the prototype for anything, or was it something you casually made purely for the fun of entering MAGS? :)

The Era-Gone Trail by Mandle
Spoiler
That was AWESOME! The graphics are lovely, the music is very well picked and the very concept of a side scrolling runner game about evolution is brilliant. Not to mention the title, which has already been mentioned :-D

I have managed to finish it after figuring out the following basic things:
1. I am controlling a dark reddish brown cat on a dark reddish brown background. That was an evil move...
2. Snakes are food if I manage to kill them.
3. It is better to first collect the food from the middle before trying to grab the food positioned near an edge of the forest area. That was an evil move, too.
Generally super cool, and I'd be willing to buy it if you really made a commercial release.

Shamrock High School: Graduation by VampireWombat
Spoiler
A dialogue-based game is a solid concept in itself, and I don't think this game would have required any adventure elements to be fun. I loved the idea (a girl's perfect double crawling out of the lake? That's super cool and super creepy, too!), but the dialogue itself didn't seem very relevant to the situation. I would rather ask my double exactly who she is, why is she here, what does she want and just what in actual f is going on than start telling her about my graduation. Overall a promising concept, and if you care for suggestions I'd say don't worry about the form of the gameplay, focus on the story because you have great ideas that are really worth expanding.

Heroes of Wyrdale by Jack
Spoiler
As with your previous entry, kudos for putting such a complex product together in such a short time frame. I imagine the coding alone would have taken a lot of time, and you also have animations for three characters and for the robots, plus the backgrounds. The story was a bit too simple perhaps, but the ending added some flavour to it. Overall a really good effort, I wish the gameplay was more differentiated and the steering less awkward, but I do applaud you for being able to put a game like this together in the first place.

My vote goes to:

The Era-Gone Trail. I loved the atmosphere of TRAVELERS, but I finally decided to go for this one because it had both the atmosphere AND the gameplay. Great job everyone!

Edit: I realized I had cut off a part of my thoughts regarding VampireWombat's entry, now fixed!
Edit2: And a typo in Jack's >.<

Where's that "Tim" guy, has anyone seen him? He said he'd fought those things before didn't he? He has to know something that may help us...

OOC: I can't help but to notice that Mandle still hasn't answered my question... I can appreciate the circumstances so I am still willing to retract my vote if Mandle (or anyone else) can convince me that I'm wrong, but the way I currently see it is that he is stalling to try to avoid being lynched tonight, in order to buy himself and his comrade one more night for an extra kill now that they have lost their first opportunity.

The reasons why I think Mandle is a Shapeshifter:

- He called for lynching a completely random person, knowing that lynching an innocent (any of them, not only Psychic or Doctor unlike he said) and then killing an unprotected target automatically wins the game for the evil team in this setup. Not lynching anyone on Day 1 and doing what he proposed on Day 2 was a safer option, considering the Psychic would have scanned someone by then and that we could have got lucky and not lose anyone (like we did).
- He tried to intimidate me into confessing my role or, had this failed, get me to agree to get lynched under the false pretense that there is no harm in lynching a Passenger.
- He made this proposition shortly before the deadline, which may suggest he tried to rush the decision. Obviously the later he makes his accusation the less time everyone has to think about it.
(For the records: I wouldn't consider the timing a convincing argument at all as everyone has their own schedules and it could have been a coincidence, but together with my other observations it does make me wonder)

I'm not sure if VampireWombat who supported the lynching trend is working with Mandle or if he fell victim to the fallacious argumentation, but the circumstances speak stronger against Mandle than VW so

Vote to lynch: Mandle

I love how we never find out

who the dangerous one is: the titular "he" or the narrator, but my money's on the narrator.

I second that!
Spoiler
The obsessive stalker narrator, totally. The way it sounds, the angry mob waving rakes and torches is about to be gathered outside.

Congrats on the release, Mandle! Great to see all those last minute entries.

Here? Like, literally here?

The stupid thing said they were on board! That doesn't have to be here in this very room, right? We're not THAT much screwed, right? Right...?

An entry, and it sounds awesome! I'll play it as soon as I get back home.

Fingers crossed for your entry too, VW :)
