Spoiler
There's one thing you could have missed. You need to actually *click* on the e-mail you got from her so Colin would also read it, not only you, the player. I took me a while to figure it out too.

Like this?
By the way, the site I just stole some bandwidth from has an impressive tutorial section focused on the light applying methods.

Details could always get added to the picture later, or just copy-pasted from the first, more detailed version. But true, a set of hand drawn backgrounds will work a lot better than a set of lame (and I mean it) quickies like those two I posted, so if only Bill's not scared of redrawing all the backgrounds then I'd say he should go for it.

And the pixelated version of the hotel room is turning out nice so far =) I know it's in progress and you're working all the shadowing and details out yourself, but I thought I'd point out that you still need to outline the wall corner in the furthest part of the room, in the area where the sofa is. And the wall light over the sofa looks a bit more like a torch than a lamp.

So this is my entry from the previous BG Blitz, depicting Stan from MI selling a full stock of second hand adventure game characters. I thought it might be fun to post this as an 'identify them all' mini-competition thread. Every featured character comes from an adventure game. I know some of them look pretty generic, and for those I added a gadget or a specific piece of clothing that might ring a bell.

Feels like fun for anybody?

Create a picture of a place where a sorcerer (or a sorceress) lives, studies magick, creates golems, plots to destroy the world or capture a member of the royal family, performs tricks, raises zombies, patronizes the villagers living nearby, does voodoo, casts charms and curses, opens portals to another dimension.. anything you like.

It can be a solitary place or a house in the middle of an habitated settlement, can be merry or dreary, tiny or huge, fantasy, historical or even high-tech sort of place - it's up to you. Just make it obvious (or semi-obvious) that a magic user dwells there.

The magician is not required in the picture, but feel welcome to add them if you like.

Colors&resolution restrictions: I'm gonna quote loominous - resolution and colors should work with AGS.

Good luck and have fun!

Edit: Trophies added.

I came up with this lame photo manipulation.
And after tormenting the photo a bit more, this.
Then the photo pleaded for mercy so I stopped.

QuoteIs that a bad point?
Not at all. I actually like the effect. Just thought I'd mention it because I wasn't sure if it was intended.

Cyrus,
Spoiler
I wouldn't really call what you described a 'good' ending, I'd call it 'typical' at best. If not 'a bit boring'. Besides, the chaps were happy with the change after all, weren't they? Save the bus driver who we don't know about, and the assistant who dropped dead. So who would care for a cure anyway?

Did you make it to the corridor where the entrance to the doctor's room is? There's another door to the left. If you can't find the place, perhaps you should figure the computer password out first.

Use the can of beer in your inventory, you should get a piece of metal that used to be can opener. Use it on the door in the showering lady's apartment.

I actually like it how it takes a while to make the picture out, and the atmosphere really makes me feel like playing the game that would have this picture as the opening screen.
Two things though:
- the planets look a bit like balls of fluff to me.
- with the way you positioned the character near the nebula makes her look as if she was splashing herself with water.

It is possible to finish the game despite the crash. Crash occurs in random rooms, but always when the characters tries to move from the crashing room to another. If you're really dying to finish the game before JNGames fixes the crash,
Spoiler
just keep saving your game before you decide which way to make a leap. There's always one of them that works, as far as I noticed. If you switch between two save game slots you can finish the game without much annoyance.

And fedx, how about you remove my quote from your post? We know which crash you're referring to since there was only one mentioned, and you did a minor plot-spoiling to the people who didn't get there yet.

And for the game itself, it gave me a really good laugh. And wow, what a dramatic atmosphere

, what dynamism! Loved the endings too.

I knew all along that the main guy's hidden desire was to become a woman. He enjoyed his disguise so much that he didn't throw it away even after sneaking into the building! Mehehe.

I like it too. However, do you have an option to anti-alias the font? Might be worth trying.
I was also wondering if the bubbles would look better with white background instead of NES-ish dark blue. I made a sample using the screenshot you provided, I'm not sure if it  really works better though.

Hint 1:

You need to figure it out. Think Leisure Suit Larry...

Hint 2 (in case it hint 1 doesn't help much):
Spoiler
The hint for the password is written somewhere. You need to do something to view it though.

Hint 3 (to make it obvious if needed):
Spoiler
Close the toilet door after you leave through it.

And by the way, I ran into a crash:
in "room29.asc", line 218
Error: MoveCharacter: character not in the current room
which occured while I was
Spoiler
dodging the doctor's pink spray for like 7th or 8th time.
Edit: I did it again, it always occurs when I try to leap from the location with the doctor's portrait. Any direction.
Edit2: I restarted the fight and this time it crashed while I was in room28. This time, the doctor has transformed Spencer already.

Try to toy with your inventory items a bit. There's a 'use' option in the inventory window.

How did you guys do the same font? It's all I need to do now.

Pixel-by-pixel for me.

Same here ;) Real men don't need Fonts
Smartarses need no fonts too. I just copied every letter I needed from other people's entries =)

Stella Rubens, qualified nurse. Be sure you never get hurt boys and girls, or you'll fall into her hands...

I toyed with your background a little bit because I found it sort of inspiring.. Anyway, I don't know if you'll find this useful, but here goes:

I made a small perspective adjustment and added a light source. Also shaded the outlines and did some other minor changes.

If you have trouble making a consistent side or back view, there's a simple yet effective method you could use. Take the view you're happy with, and draw some horizontal lines next to all the key spots of your sprite. Then carefully place the to-be-corrected sprite on the other side of the lines. Like this:

Then you'll see which areas need to be corrected (the forehead is too large, the bottom line of the nose should be moved one pixel up etc.)
And this is what I came up with:

The shadowing might still look a bit awkward and overall more could be done to make this sprite better, but it hopefully does look like the same woman in both views now.

Heh. See if you can identify the others. There is not a single no-name character in the picture, each of them comes from a game.
