Every day, I read/see something on the internet that makes my tiring day at work teaching little noisy b... er, angels... worth it. Vince, thank you. You made the cut today :)

Heck, and now I know that the answer to peace on earth TRULY IS pirates.

LJUBI: I'm not American or European or whatever so I don't know the history of these things well enough to debate. All I have to say is... my god, just settle down. This is a thread about a natural disaster, and you get all `crazy internet weirdo` about it. Shut up, already, you know? Everyone's entitled to their opinion and all and I respect Puma's decision to leave your original post, but it's time to just settle down, have a beer, and chill already.

Se - ttle - down ! Okay? Calm down, and stay on topic. We're talking about a hurricane.

Vince: Holy crap, are you okay?! I'd been so busy thinking the typhoon was missing Shizuoka I forgot that you were right in the middle of it. I hope you and everyone you know is okay.

All my sympathies to the victims of the hurricane. There hasn't been that much about it on the news over here so I've only really been reading about how bad it was today. I wonder if the city will rebuild and get on with things, or if it really will be too devastated to continue on...? I'm sure they'll rebuild but it'll be interesting to see what kind of a city it'll be after this.

Well, the benefit of using a "Company" name is that it can be much more memorable that your real name is. If you have a boring or hard to pronounce name, for example, people probably won't remember it; so in that case, using a made-up company name instead (especially if it has a logo), can lead more people to remember who made the game.

Bingo! This is exactly the reason I want my `Mushroom republic` logo at the front of my games. Hopefully when I have a few done, it'll start to become somewhat memorable. My name is pretty boring, I wouldn't expect anyone to remember that.

Well, if we're talking about weird phobias, I have 2.

One is anything touching the back of my knees. I think of something possibly damaging the tendons back there and it drives me insane.

Moreso than that is non-laquered wooden objects scraping on things. I don't know where it came from but particularly the thought of popsicle sticks on my teeth just ... it's the most awful torture I can imagine. Even when washing wooden spoons or something, I have to really wash them carefully so I don't rub them or anything.

Okay, I have to ask because this is bugging me. LJBetc, why do you refer to yourself as `we`. I keep picturing the turtle from the Never-Ending Story.

Re: Actual point of post... I'm gonna go home and try that. I haven't played Sam and Max in years and I didn't think there were any walking deads so I really want to find that one now.

Well, with me it's a convenient way of telling things to my friends and only having to write it once. It only became LJ yesterday though. I hate LJ, but I was out of the loop with all my other LJ using friends so much like the reason the weight of the world eventually necessitated me to get a mobile phone, I was forced to start an LJ.

Wow, I said LJ a lot.

As for mukade, I havent even seen one outside yet. I'm almost disappointed because I got the impression they were everywhere.

Vince: Nope, I have zero bugs inside my apartment. I'm -always- looking but I haven't seen more than a little slug on my bathroom wall (which I put outside after taking a photo of it to mark the occasion).

I've already talked to other ALTs who have had mukade on their ceilings and freaked out. I'm just glad it isn't me. I honestly think I giant huntsman would scare me more though. I look at mukade and they just don't scare me (in photos). BTW, is that -your- hand?

By the way, if you have an LJ account, let me know and I'll add you to my friends list so you can read about my crazy wacky adventures in Japan.

I really did like my Voltron tiger toys, and my nice smelling My Little Ponies.

Really though? If I were ACTUALLY gonna get something back, I'd probably want my coleco and all the games (+ steering wheel). It was what started me with gaming so I owe it a lot.

I have an uncontrollable phobia of losing my breath when there's a lot of blood coming out of my body.

Best. Phobia. Ever.

I have that too.

I had HIDEOUS arachnophobia before coming to Japan. I'd freak out like crazy if I saw a spider and I had to get my boyfriend to kill them. Now, I live in a little village with spiders EVERYWHERE so I've sort of been forced to get over it. None are in my apartment which suits me fine. If they're outside and they keep to themselves, fair enough.

Mind you, the spiders around my place here are nowhere near as scary as the huntsmen back in Australia.

I actually thought it would be a thread about the Cure, as from their song, `Caterpillar Girl`.

Alas no.

I did laugh at your:

but I really don't what all the fuss is about getting a Yahoo ID

though. I've murdered small children made of puppies every single time I`ve had to fuck around with those Yahoo IDs.

I have a feeling 2006 will be an amazing year. It's most likely the year my own Gift of Aldora will come out! Of course, it'll win -everything-. The internet will come to a halt to view it's awesomeness.

I really wish it could come out this year but it just ain't gonna happen.

Vince: Yes, all those ads get on my nerves. I always used to admire Japanese game ads because they, unlike the west, focussed on showing the GAME and the gameplay, whereas western ads often just showed some craziness and then 5 seconds of the actual game.

These days, I think Japan is getting too `western` with its ads and trying to make them too abstract. Just show the game and advertise when its coming out. To me, it shows a total lack of confidence in the quality of the game itself.

I`m not interested in the PSP or the DS. As soon as I heard about them both, there was absolutely no interest in either and usually I jump all over new consoles/hardware. I feel like both of these are too gimmicky and Id rather wait for the next quality console to come out. Im happy with my GBA SP for now :)

Sorry Steve!!! It doesn't mean I don't really appreciate all your help... I hope you don't think that. I'm honestly just too lazy to anilyse the code and figure out ways  to make it work in every way I want it to. I'm really picky and fickle, and not very good at scripting.

Well, I dont actually see visible blood, my urine is just full or red and white blood cells. I was tested for various things, including STDs, I had an ultra sound which showed no problems... it took about 6 or 7 visits to the doctor and so much cup peeing I was quite the expert by the end, but they never found the cause and as far as I know, its still happening.

#1196
Good attitude, voh!

Er, I found out I have heaps of blood in my urine a few months ago, and I got tested for everything and they never found out what it is.

Thats as close as I come to having anything disease related. Never even broken a bone before. I did have my molars out, and I had an ear infection when I was 10.

That really sucks. Id say to look on the bright side and you`ll get over it and all of that, but when I think about it... I`d be feeling pretty terrible if that had happened to me, too. If Id stolen something, fine, but if I knew it was all a misunderstanding and they were just being inflexible, I`d feel like crap. All I can say is to give it a few days and you`ll be right to move on.  Afterall, its Walmart :P There are MUCH better things out there.

My god, youd think theyd let you have a pizza stick. I used to work at a bakery and we could pretty much take what we wanted.

ARGH! This game actually looks fantastic! I mean, its one of those particularly rare ones that really has a proper professional game look to it. Im very much looking forward to this.

Youre on my list, man.

Im starting to play around with the game again after a break, so this code has come in question yet again for me.

Actually, I have lots of problems that all seem to stem from it, such as objects being walked through, FaceCharacter not working properly, the Character Collision plugin doesnt seem to work properly with it, EGO randomly appears at different coordinates on the screen when he walks sometimes... Im not sure if they all come from this code, but at the moment I`m wonderinf if maybe there isnt just another way to do what I was originally asking just by modifying my original code to check for edges, etc. Changing the entire system of walking just seems too messy at this stage.

Its probably asking the impossible, but does anyone have an idea of how it could be done?

No, I didnt... partly because I stopped working on the game to get ready for the move to Japan and Im only now starting to re-tackle some of these problems. I thought of this one last night so I decided to dredge the thread up again and see if anyone could help.
