General Discussion / No need to thank me...

I submit to you that this is the coolest thing ever. Ever. Not even evolution is this cool.

This is my house (somewhere in here!):

Go NUTS with this thing people. I'm finding Mt. Fuji at the moment.

Maybe we should start putting this stuff in the critic's lounge o_O I can see these threads opening up all over the place.

I don't have a problem with people putting a "spin" on these old stories. The only thing I hate is when they're like American Magee and all, "omg *guffaw* I made it all dark and gothy, I'm such a genius" (which I'm not saying the OP is!). As long as people recognise it's been done a thousand times before with these stories, fair enough. Also, that the original stories (as has been said, the 'Wizard of Oz' movie and Disney's 'Alice in Wonderland' were VERY cleaned up/kiddy versions of these books) had very adult/dark tones of their own.

My main thing is that, since Oz is something I love so much, I'd like to see the game do it justice with lots of good references and stuff. That's just my opinion and it'd be a hell of a lot stronger if this is a commercial game. The OP can do whatever the hell they like though :) That's the law of an independant game. (Well, aside from all those other laws of copywrite that applies to remakes and whatnot).

General Discussion / Re: Emulators
Tue 21/06/2005 14:31:39
The way I see it, when the price of games is reasonable and the games themselves aren't lacking, I'll buy them. I already buy games that excite my soul, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna pay $100 for f*cking Zoo Keeper. I download roms of games I can't buy anymore, or games I want to test (seriously, I'm NOT paying $100 on faith) or games that just aren't good enpugh to buy but I want a bit of a look at.

I don't give a crap if it's illegal. Who really cares? I support decent games and the rest can start picking up their game (whoa, pun! O_O) if they want my money.

If you don't want it mentioned on the forum, fair enough. I myself have tonnes of roms and emulators and if someone makes a really good game, neither having the rom nor a raging hell hound could stop me from buying it. I consider it as illegal as all those movies I had taped on VHS when I was a kid, or all those games I never paid a cent for when I had an amiga and lots of friends with amigas.

Quick Japanese lesson ^_^ \/

suru - plain present
shinai - negative
shite iru - am doing
shite kudasai - please do
shiyou - let's do
shiro - command, "Do!"

Does anyone know what the deal with those "Mr. Sega" ads is? Holy hell, they're weird... the guy gets beaten up @_@
#1367
Well, why not just use "shiro" which is like an order, so "Play Sega Satan!". still, "Ta San" isn't much like Satan.

Yes, every time an ad break came, it really felt like it was slicing the movie up much like an eigth victim.

Wow o_o What a terrible review to completely ruin the movie for you like that.

General Discussion / Se7en (spoilers)
Sun 19/06/2005 15:25:06
I've just rewatched Se7en for the first time in quite a few years, so, as you do, I'm noticing a few more things about it. For those of you who have seen it, am I wrong in thinking that all the murders made sense except for "sloth", in the sense that all the other victims embodied the sin they were accused of (ie. fat guy was "gluttony", rich guy was "greed", prostitute was "lust", etc...)? Also, when John turns himself in at the policestation, he says, "I know you". I read on a discussion on imdb two theories concerning this. One, that he's alluding to understanding the detective, two, that he's simply being a little cocky and alluding to when they "met" outside of his apartment. To be honest, I don't think either one really fits, it really seems like an odd line to me.

But I'm interested in what others think ^_^

EDIT: As an extra note, I find this movie very hard to watch after the first sitting, because I keep looking at Brad Pitt's character knowing what's in store for him.

I've only seen the first one so far but those kids look like such pretentious little Breakfast Club/Degrassi High watching twats.

Anyone have any confidence this will be released in Australia? I have a PAL Xbox and a Japanese Xbox, and it's too much bother to get one modded.

Strange, strange Kinoko. One minute you are praising someone for mentioning Chrono Trigger, the next minute you say that it was an average game.

I'm with Eggie. I love my mega drive (II) and it loves me.

Well, it was mostly the other two I love, and I DO like Chrono Trigger, but I never understood why so many people consider it to be such an unbelievably good game. It's good, but not like the greatest game ever, far from it in my opinion. Breath of Fire II and Terranigma are the greast games ever ^_^

I never really got the "buzz" with Chrono Trigger. It's an okay RPG but I could never even finish it. I found the controls and gameplay quite annoying a lot of the time, and I didn't see why people went so nuts over it. It's okay but... yeah, I didn't get the big deal.

Go with the SNES and get the following games: Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, and Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Trust me, you cannot go wrong with the above.

Dart, can I give you a hug? It's so wonderful to meet people out there with fabulous taste. I should have mentioned all of those in my own post.

My interview for JET. I spent months preparing for it and came out feeling so great, I thought I must be crazy. Also, highschool exams. They were piece of piss ^_^

Jesus christ man, a SNES!!! It's my all-time most loved console. You can get Breath of Fire II, Final Fantasy II (US), Illusion of Gaia, Terranigma, Lufia II... I mean, it's no competition!

The NES is fantastic though, I'd get both. Where are you getting these from anyway?
