Man, Water Babies! I love that movie, watched it ALL the time. "High high high high high cochalorum!" There' a book of it too, I always meant to read it ^_^ I think everyone loves the Princess Bride... certainly all my friends are nuts about it.

Potch: I TOTALLY saw whatever movie you're describing, I've thought about it before but for the life of me I don't know what it was called! Wow, I never remembered about the withc though, you have an even better memory of it than me.

Ahh, I loved Hook too, even though it's so silly. I own Willow on DVD (though, never ever saw it as a kid, only in the last couple of years). I'd also say Flight of the Navigator got many, many viewings during my childhood.

As for Disney stuff, I ADORE Robin Hood and The Sword in the Stone.

Oh, the Storyteller! I was addicted to those... must get them on DVD some day.

I can't believe I forgot to mention Dark Crystal. It's another one of those things I liked a lot more when I was a kid though, not so much now.

Well, just to throw some more names out, another big film from my childhood I bought on DVD as soon as possible (along with Labyrinth and Goonies) was Return to Oz, which still freaks the begeebies out of me during one scene. GREAT film and much, much more true to original books than that stupid Wizard of Oz film.

I actually haven't heard of Red Flyer. I used to really like a movie called Radio Flyer ^_^

Watership Down scarred me. I remember those rabbits with wild, red eyes buried alive... then that sad, sad f$#cking song. I loved the movie, but boy... it was an emotional workout.

The Last Unicorn is one of my all-time favourite movies ever. I used to love the Secret of Nihm when I was a kid, and rewatched it last year... it was actually kind of boring. I was really disappointed it was so much suckier than I remembered. I see what you mean about it, that -feel- is there. It's not awful, but I do remember just wanting it to finish, and that's just not a good sign of my enjoyment of a film.

Labyrinth/Goonies and Never Ending Story are what I consider to be my "Big Three" childhood movie loves, though even those are ever so slightly different.

what YakSpit said though is exactly right, even if he doesn't realise it. Those movies we remember with that special "feel" are that way, not only for the music and animation and stories, but for one special thing they all have in common. Darkness. I bet you can't name a single one of these films that doesn't have a touch of darkness, something you might be surprised to see in a modern Disney movie. A character dying, real sadness, cruelty. It's not the REASON we love them, but it's what gives them that kick because they were movies that made you FEEL something, even if you didn't quite understand it when you were a kid.

QUEENSLANDER!

Oh, whoops ^_^;;

Argh! I've been reading the readme, and the editor uses "syo", and "jya" >_< My most hated style of romanisation!

*sigh* Oh well :P

I'm probably jumping the queue here, not having finished reading yet, but does this font have the Japanese punctuation characters too?

EDIT: Well, I tried loading the editor into AGS v2.6 and it tells me it's not the right version. It's definitely v2.60 but it doesn't like the game data file at all.

Hmm, I have absolutely no experience with editing TTF fonts so that's completely beyond me. I've heard it's incredibly difficult.
#1471
Thanks a lot, Gilbot ^_^ I'll check the editor out. So using TTF would be conceivable? I had wanted to make my own font but, well, you gotta do what you gotta do.

EDIT: Or, I guess I could still go with the SCI font idea as long as I only use hiragana (which I was happy to do) now that I know AGS doesn't visually display all the available characters (before I had thought that what you saw in the 'FONT' section was all there was).

I don't know.

I may have this completely wrong, but I think what faizan was asking was whether he can actually have 3 dimensions in the game, ie. Have it work like a 3D game in that you can spin objects around and view them from all sides, etc.

If so (again, I could be TOTALLY wrong), that isn't possible. AGS is a 2D game maker. You can make backgrounds LOOK 3D and you can make them loop so you essentially have a "never-ending" room. You could even script it so you look at objects and appear to be spinning them around, by taking a picture of all angles of the object (scripting would be somewhat complicated though). I think from memory they did this in King's Quest 7. That's about as far as you can take it though.

I couldn't help but notice the bullseye is way off centre in that target... is that on purpose?

Stunning @_@ I don't even like C&H but those pics are fantastic.

(Must admit though, I was a little worried watching you draw the tail... it was in an odd position)
#1475
Would using a TTF font make a difference? Or does that still only use a limited number of the characters?
#1476
Don't worry Vince, I'm sure it sucked ^_^

Well, even without the tenten'd (") and maru'd (o) characters, you're still missing ra, ri, ru, re and ro. It's also , given that I would be using hiragana also as katakana usually functions, a good idea to have small versions of a, i, you, e and o as well, for more authentic sounding foreign/made up words (which RPGs use a lot).

However, like I said, I wouldn't be using any of the roman alphabet in my game, so there are some extra characters there.

I have to say though, and I don't mean to put your method down or anything, but just appending the " and o to the right of characters would look really out of place and weird to me... I'd really need all of them as seperate characters to make them look right.

As it stands, I still wouldn't bother with a Japanese translation if I couldn't have the basic 100 character slots. Not trying to be difficult, I just wouldn't see the point otherwise because it wouldn't look right.

Ahh awesome! I have it now, thanks for the links guys ^_^ I downloaded the movie in about 20 seconds (*sigh* I lovev cable) and the player works fine.
#1479
Thanks a lot guys! ^_^ I really appreciate it.

I'll have to save the downloading for tomorrow though, can't keep my eyes open anymore.

There's a website for a game I'm interested in (Summon Night), which has a lovely movie on it now. Usually I can save this sort of stuff, but because of the way this is embedded, I'm not sure how/if I can save it. I can't see the filename in the source code, and I'm not even sure if it's a swf file or what.

http://www.summonnight.net/snworld/snex/index.html

Does anyone have any idea how I can get this saved? I've looked in Firefox cache but can't see any trace of it.

(I recommend people with dial up don't even look at this webpage, even the menu needs to "load").

If not, the game's worth looking at anyway ^_^ Very pretty, and the music's gorgeous.

By the way, the movie isn't that stuff you see first. That's just an elaborate menu introduction. You can skip it, and click on "movie" on the right-hand side.
