I would VERY much like to see your Zelda game made in AGS ^_^ Hope you pick that up again someday.

I'm seeing it on Friday. I've had friends say it was utter shit and others say it was fun. For the moment, I'm feeling positive about it because I've let go of my expectations about the movie. Still, we'll see...

I'm bringing this question here only because I know you people are SANE and because I know a lot of you also play RPGs and whatnot.

There's an independant RPG that seems to be regarded as one of the best out there called Ara Fell. I downloaded this and upon attempting to play it, realised you need to have the program it was made with (RPG Maker 2003) to play it. Okay, whatever, it's a pain in the ass but what the hey. So I have RM2k3 installed, try to play the game, it still doesn't work.

I'm told by people that I have the wrong RTP file, I'm told by others I need to rename some files here and there, I'm told by others I need to rename so many files it's not worth it and I should get a whole new folder by someone/thing called RPG Advocate... does anyone here have any clue as to what's going on? I HATE this program. I HATE it with a passion I cannot describe. Why do people make games with such a stupid freaking program and why do people play them when there's SO much ****ing around you have to do beforehand.

Is it just me?? This is driving me insane. I feel like when I release my game in the one exe file people won't know what to do with it because it'll be too simple for them.

EDIT: Nope, nope, forget it. I've had my fill of this piece of crap program. I just delted all the RPG Maker games I had and the stupid, stupid RTP files and I'm never, EVER trying to use it again. It just baffles me that anyone would want to use a program like that.

I guess as testament to how crap that program is, you just need to look at the games people make with it and the culture that surrounds it. I swear, if I ever met anyone who made a game with all their own graphics and sounds and programming, I'd turn into a penguin. That whole RPGM culture is stupid, all praising each other for making a pretty looking demo made up of ripped graphics and pre-made chipsets. 75% of the games are Pokemon or Final Fantasy rip offs. ARGH!!!

Is it that they're lazy or it just doesn't occur to them to actually make their own game with their own material? I don't know... I've had it. I've reached the end of my patience.

I LOVE AGS like a thousand and one kittens made out of chocolate flavoured gold. Don't stray people, because it's a scary, crappy, unprofessional world out there.

...apart from me ^_^ I was 14 when I met my boyfriend online and moved in him with at 17/18. Now 22.

Well, the part that worked out is that you moved in with him. What if you hadn't moved in with him and still kept a long distance thing until today? Did you guys live pretty close to each other...?

Well, OBVIOUSLY :P That goes for any relationship. If you don't eventually start making a life together, it's gonna fizzle out. We kept the internet relationship going for a number of years though, it wasn't as though we met online and then in real life several months later. I didn't meet him in person until I was... a couple of months off being 17.

I am with CJ though, I'm still totally skeptical of internet relationships. I like to give my own example in the argument just to counter the people who say it can never work, but at the same time I still believe it's a very risky was of meeting people. People DO lie a lot on the computer. I think for intelligent people with good senses though, as long as you play it safe and talk to said person for a long time before meeting, it can be fine. There ARE a lot of decent people on the net too.

Another thing that helped my case is that I was also online friends with all of his friends. We all "hung out" online together so I got to talk a LOT to all the people he'd grown up with and the people who knew him in real life, and they were all fantastic people too. I got a really good feel for his life, which is important. I wasn't just relying on what he told me. Thankfully, he's one of the most honest and wonderful people you could ever meet, which showed through to me over the years and is the reason it worked out. As time went on, we talked more and more and just became a part of each others every day lives. We also wrote and talked on the phone a lot eventually, which I also think is important.

I really think time is important. A lot of people want to rush into relationships because you start making the person you're talking to better than they may really be in your head and you imagine this great relationship that might start... you want to get into it right away. Time, time, time... wait until you've known this person for a really long time.

Dark Seed is what I was thinking of (re: parallel worlds game). What you do in one world directly affects the other in some way. Quite a fun concept so there's nothing to stop someone doing it again. Particularly since I'm fairly sure the inventory parallel hasn't been done (at least that I know of). In Dark Sed, I think that the inventory you had was the same in either worlds.

Gosh, this is more complicated than I had originally though @_@ But thanks for all the info guys! I think I can do it for the PC anyway and I might just have to make sure there aren't any NPCs nearby.

No problems here because I've been living with my "internet friend" for almost 5 years now ^_^ I'd say don't expect anything from it and don't meet for a while... a long while really. Not until you really are quite familiar with that person (of course, as much as you CAN be on the internet). Even if it is a friendship and not a dating thing, you still have to be careful.

That aside, yeah, nothing wrong with it! It's just another way to meet people these days.

Ooh, I like this topic. It's a neat idea... hmm, I have a LOT of game ideas and I know I won't make them all, but I don't know if I can pluck one from destiny just yet. I'll reply with one later on. Still, nice topic ^_^

Maybe it would have been clearer if he said "as KFC is to happy little chickens" :) Because to chicken in general, it could be argued (and would be, by me) that they make it taste great.
