DG: I'm with you in the "me" square, right? I know I'm better than even the people you respect!

I have NEVER in my life heard "As God as my witness".

Never.

I've only ever heard "As God is my witness".

My uncle's a cop and he said God's a shit witness too. Couldn't identify some guy that beat his mate up properly, kept changing his mind about the guy's height and even whether he had a goatee or not! God is a shit witness, says my uncle.

General Discussion / SWIV anyone?
Thu 27/07/2006 01:21:46
Hope I'm not breaking the rules with this one, but I was wondering if anyone could help me find a download of a game called SWIV. Not SWIV 3D or Super SWIV, but good old Amiga-version original SWIV. Was thinking about it yesterday but all I can find online are the remakes and whatnot.

EDIT: Well, *ahem* Since that question's been answered, let me expand the thread a bit. What's your favourite shooter? This is why SWIV was on my mind, was discussing shooter's a bit yesterday and SWIV sticks in my mind as being my personal favourite. Hard to remember why exactly, it was just plain fun. Simple but with enough to keep you interested all the way to the final boss.

Seriously, that's -really- interesting.

Wow, some damn good entries! Excellent topic too. If by some miracle I get some time today, I'll try to whip up an entry.

It's not beatboxing really considering it's just edited together but it was still awesome. I like the idea!

When is the next match featuring the Aussie team? I want to know when to expect the next bunch of comments about how big and strong the Australian team is from coworkers.

And remember that it's near impossible to try and complete everything we need to in life but I think we can feel proud in just getting as many things as possible completed.

This reminds me of one of my favourite quotes ever from one of the smartest men around, Clive James. I can't remember it word for word, but basically he said that he wants to do THOUSANDS of things in his lifetime, but he knows he can't, so he just decides to appoint other people to do them for him (like Tiger Woods is living his dream of being a great golfer, etc). As soon as I heard that, I thought it was a -wonderful- way of thinking of things and I live by it now.

I think DGs advice was fucking brilliant so consider myself waving the DG pompoms and cheering on his side of the team for this.

Seriously guys, take a fucking chance. Nothing more frustrating for a woman than a guy who won't be a man. Women make up their minds about men pretty quickly, and if you start honestly acting on your feelings, if she likes you, she'll reciprocate and if not, there's probably not a lot you could have done anyway. There are circumstances where people can change the way another person feels about them, but -for the most part-, we already know and we're just waiting for you to do something manly about it, or hoping while we look for other men who might do it faster than you.

I'm not saying the man has to make the first move, but don't think about who's making it or not. If you like her, let her know. As DG said, it doesn't need to be with a bajillion roses but don't play coy. Don't lie, don't "bide your time". We won't wait forever. If a man misses a good opportunity for furthering the relationship, be it an emotional relationship or just sex, we'll often (and I say 'we' because women are one like the borg) start wondering where our time is better spent. Maybe that guy over there? Hmm, that German guy pays me a lot of attention...

Hey, I watch the first 5 minutes of it every Tuesday night before I go to teach my adult class. And I can watch it in Japanese if I want.

Thankyou!

EDIT: Oh wait, I made a mistake when copying the post. Could you see your way to deleting the "(that is, NOW!)" from it?
#193
I made a new thread in the Comp forum. If someone could just lock the topic and sticky it..?
#194
Is this the 4th one? Something like that anyway. Thanks to Scummbuddy for being a constant reminder about this.

ABOUT RELEASE SOMETHING:
This isn't a competition as such, just a big free-for-all where we can all showcase our talents. Basically, a date is set for "Release Something!" Day and on that day, people are invited to post to this thread anything they like, really. For example, some sprites,Ã,  screenshots of your game, music, sound effects, backgrounds, rooms, a plugin, a storyboard, a demo, or if you can manage it, a full game. Heck, even if it's 95% done or 1% done, if you wanna release it, you go for it!

WHEN: (that is, NOW!)
This time it's starting on June 15 and usually runs for a couple of days, so PLENTY of time.

Remember, anything you want, as little or as much of it as you want! Get working, people!

Inspiration isn't the problem, it's having no free time and about 30 hobbies.

Anyway, forget me. I think it's a decent idea for a competition.

That was fun! I can't believe Brynn counted as a bonus question though... maybe I know that game too well but she and her name were totally memorable for me. I guess I just really like the name, the dakr haired chick in my sig banner was named after her.
#197
I have to agree with that. I'd be lucky if I've even played 30... in fact, I'd be willing to bet I've probqably played around 25 or so. It's hard to estimate but that number seems about right.

'Course, that's just me.

The Rumpus Room / Re: The music thread
Sat 27/05/2006 03:45:44
I think the whole point is that there are new people to the forum all the time and we don't want them all doing a "What's your favourite band?" post when they come in.

I don't think pipan did anything wrong, it was a perfectly fine question and there isn't an obvious alternative. Do we have a sticky thread where everyone gives a little bio on themselves? If not, maybe that'd be a good idea.

Anyway, my favourite bands are:

Queen
Kiss
David Bowie
Alice Cooper
The Darkness
Scissor Sisters
Space
Powderfinger
Regurgitator
Outkast
Black Eyed Peas
Weird Al
Brandy

...and more. (I just went down my iTunes list more or less)

But lately my favourite bands are all Japanese.

I'd hate on you and all that, but I kinda don't care this year. I haven't seen any rugby in a year, I feel very seperated from it now.

Still hope the Maroons kick your pussy asses in the next 2 games.

When I first saw it, I didn't realise it was fake, and the camera thing was the first thing I questioned my friend about. Why on Earth would they keep filming like that?
