I have to agree, with the amount of changes and the rather large change to scripting, why not make this 3.0? Unless you have something -amazing- planned for that ^_-

I just noticed the AGS editor splash screen has changed for Valentine's Day, but it flashed by so fast I didn't get a great look at it. Has this feature been around for a long time? ^_^; Are there more variations in the splash screen for other "holidays"?
#1823
Never. Then again, I've only made one and I'm surrently making #2. There's still room for failure.

Wow, I totally thought this was gonna be a post relating to the new ad for the Peasant Quest movie ^_^ Somewhat timely...

The background looks great ^_^ I was gonna crit the "window" until I realised it's a cabinet (oops!). So it looks great, I particularly like the balistrades (spelling?) on the staircase.

I agree with everyone here so I won't go over that again. There are a few exceptions to my stance on voice recording in games, one of which is Grim Fandango. Now, of course, it's a commercial game so they could afford proper voice actors and they really did a good job. I have to say though, that even during that game, I would hear these lines I just... didn't think "Manny" was reading right. Sometimes entirely the wrong emphasis or tone was used, and it was off putting. Most of the game gave you the impression you were listening to Manny, but these few lines here or there would send it back home that I was listening to a voice actor reading lines off a sheet of paper.

THAT was one of the best voice actings jobs I've seen in a game, and even there I had some problems with it. If you leave speech out completely, you're getting rid of any possibility to ruin the tone of the game like that, so it's a "Better safe than sorry" situation. Also, I think 99% of adventure game players know well the benefits of reading only, and don't necessarilly feel that speech adds anything at all. I do find that it's mostly the 'newer' generation of game players that are really into speech in games. Not a rule of course, but it tends to be that way.

It's not necessarily a bad thing, it CAN be a great thing, but it's often not, particularly with independant adventures.

2, always. 1 is still a great film, but 2 just hit the right note, for me. I usually hate sequels, but this is one of the few I think kicks the ass of the original. It was one of the first movies I got on dvd. There are so, so many classic movie moments in this one, more than the first, I thought.

I've never seen 3 and I don't think I ever will. Even the ad for it annoyed me.

Well, I think this is a lesson in not storing things soley online. You should just keep a folder on your harddrive for all your games (what about the pre-compiled versions? Don't you still have them?) and put a backup on cd if you need to.

Best of luck, Peter. I truly, truly hope it's negative, and I'm sure it will be ^_^

...and *ahem* I'm -sure- there are people that make it further than 20 years. "Bad Farlander" *whap!* :P

Holy crap, it got mine first time ^_^ Admittedly, a fishing rod isn't very hard but still, I'm impressed.
#1832
Thanks, I'll give that a try ^_^ I swear, I read more than one walkthrough and they just said "Go through the door" with no mention of going up the other tower or anything. It's been years and years, hopefully my old save game is still there...

Now that we're on the subject of KQ4... I never had any trouble with that game and got up to the point where you have to go up a long staircase and past a ... goblin or something, into another door. I could - NEVER - EVER - get past that goblin thing! I just ended up giving up on the game, walkthroughs just said to "Go through the door". Did anyone else ever have this problem?

Holy hell, that's your first background? It looks fantastic, really! If you can keep up that quality, your game's gonna look really nice. The colours are great, there's a good mix of simplicity and detail...\

If you really want critisism though, all I can come up with is that the sand looks a tad out of place in terms of the way it was shaded. Maybe don't airbrush it, but give the shadow a slightly "rougher" blend, to match with the walls etc.

Again though, thats me being picky. It really looks great as is.

Try walking out of the circus tent and back in.

Actually, have you got the deed itself?

Oooh, this looks great. I love the "washy" look of the graphics. Your GUI's very cool, too.
#1837
You were close though, all you have to do is add "ch line" to your topic and it makes sense ^_^
#1838
What the hell was that whole thing? I mean... the weatherman was hideously bad, I felt embarrassed watching him, but  even those girls were terribly rigid. Was that internet news or what?
#1839
Somewhat of an update, as I've started serious work on the game again after a bit of a "xmas break". I wasn't quite happy with the old control GUI, so I'm completely redone it and I rather like the outcome. You can see it in one of the updated screenshots (in the first post) alongside the status GUI which remains on screen throughout most of the game.

Hp, MP and current level will be on screen all the time, and you can call up the control GUI (or whatever you want to call that sort of thing) to see other stats such as DEF, STR, WIS, LUCK and current EXP (and EXP necessary to reach the next level). You can also use/equip items/armour/weapons or magic.

The picture of the girl is whichever companion you choose.

There'll be some more updates soon, 'cause I'd at least like to post a screenshot of the first major battle.

I'm stuck on #15 and I think I'll call it a night there. #12 had me stumped the most of them all, I overthought things, I think.
