Messages - Kinoko

Joystick/controller pad compatibility - Because I don't really understand how it works, I'm only suggesting it if it's not something incredibly complicated. It's not necessary at all but just something that I think would be a nice feature. I notice only one person (that I can find) has asked about it before and only got a very short answer so I didn't know if there was any particular reason this wasn't implimented yet.

Can I use SetAmbientTint or any other function to get an object to be completely white? I'm trying to get a kind of saturated sunlight effect and at the moment, I've had to animate the object going from completely white to partly white on my own, and then use SetAmbientTint at full blast to carry it on from there. I realise it's a -tint- and probably shouldn't saturate full white anyway but... is there a way around this?

Also, is there any way to get a white fade in/out room transition?

That's actually incredibly spooky. Let's hope they er... find it again. I can't believe I haven't heard of this until now o_O

EDIT - How about some of you people with broadband connections get on one of those satellite webpages where you can look anywhere on earth?

It was originally spelt with an 'L' because of the French, and the 'Y' came from medieval times when Robin Hood shot an arrow through the top of a lower case 'l' and split it in twain.

Seriously, I have no idea. This is all very interesting but beyond my linguistics knowledge.

It's very true about the right of veto. I remember years back leading a class debate in uni against whether the UN has done it's job or not. We won by a landslide but that doesn't mean I would ridicule or dislike the UN. They're EXTREMELY important and a lot of their problems come from people not respecting them.

I LOVE Clue, it's a freaking hilarious movie - but I think, Sutebi, that you're just trying to be funny with your opinion. Not that any major decisions are gonna be made in this thread, but it's important we all keep our braincells going about all this.

Wow, you've done well, Layabout. By that I mean in getting so many friends, a girlfriend and accomodation in such a short time in a foreign land, as ... someone said. Not the massive amount of damage you did to your body during that time ^_- Don't let yourself fall into that British drinking binge circle! I've seen some docos on it and ... well, it's pretty fucked up. You NEED your senses to be able to tell if girls are really good looking or not.

If you get a job, save up and go on a tour of Scotland ^_^ Scotland rocks! So my friends tell me.

Hmm... it does sound a little interesting (I'm sure that USA/Egypt guys thing is a myth) but I know I just wouldn't bother going there. I'm lazy with almost all online communities. This is the only one I've been able to stick to regularly in many years.

I don't think I want to become friends with Ron Gilbert etc either ^_^ It'd spoil the mystique surrounding them. I need idols. Roberta Williams has already been ruined for me.

Woohoo! It's over for another year. Did anyone else but DG come? Well, thanks to you, sir, anyway. 'Twas good to see you again. I'll be doing a Supanova report sometime this week so I'll put the url up here when it's done (if anyone's interested).

As usual, lots of scary cosplayers but a bunch of excellent ones including the Tick, Arthur and American Maid, who all looked fantastic. Best of all, I made a decent amount of money! It's all gone now thanks to the heap of bills that arrived before the weekend *sigh* All fun though.

Keep in mind that Man Faye looks hideous on purpose. It was his goal to horrify. Countless other cosplayers look almost that bad (and some worse) completely on accident. "I'm a cute little cat girl, nyao!" comes out of many a 400 pound teenager.

I think that big blue guy was everyone's mystery man at Supanova. In the end, I got up and asked him who he was. Can't for the life of me remember what the answer was though...

The cosplayers are surely a scary bunch but rest assured, my slim, cute, young asian friend will be dressed as a police woman this year so it won't be all bad. I really want a power outlet so I can play Kiss music at the table all weekend...

Who's coming??

Supanova for those of you who don't know is a sci-fi/cult/comic/anime/geek convention held one or twice a year in Australia. This weekend (18th and 19th) it's in Brisbane for the second time ever and for the second time ever me and a very talented friend have a table (The Corner of Awesomeness) in the artists' alley. I encourage all in the Brisbane vacinity to get your butts down here and visit for at least one of the days ^_^

Mikey from the Goonies is coming! Also some other semi-famous people who want to make money by signing their names, like Gimli and Denethor. (Last year we had George Takai who was surprisingly charismatic.) You can get stuff signed for like $40! WOW!

Better yet, you can see me and buy one of my awesome comics. Yeah! Fuckin' A, man. Unlike those other knobs, I sign for free XD

I think the webpage is www.supanova.com or something like that. DG, you at LEAST should be there!

My old nickname everywhere used to be Katt (as my current webpage is still named after) because my favourite game was Breath of Fire II on the SNES and Katt was the coolest character ever (I'm also mad about cats). That name, I soon discovered, is used EVERYWHERE so after a few years I gave it up and chose Kinoko. That means "mushroom" in Japanese, it's cute, I like mushrooms, and it less common than "Katt".

Nooo! Old characters! Classic characters! Bring back Wart! I hate Waluigi and Wario >_<

DisplaySpeechBackgroundAt and DisplayQueuedSpeechBackgroundAt - pretty self-explanitory, useful if you have a subtitle line at the bottom.

-Just- suggested DisplaySpeechBackgroundAt myself ^_^

Well, I hate putting people to work for me (or feeling like I am, anyway) so please don't feel like you have to. I'm in no great hurry as this game isn't due to come out for months yet, so I can afford to wait a decent time if a new function is going to be added.

That's a solution for the mechanics of removal (Using a timer would work the same, I would imagine), thanks. How would I go about it automatically creating more than one instance of these overlays at a time? This would be used in real-time RPG style combat, so I need an overlay if one creature is hit, but several at a time if more than one is hit or if one creature is hit while another overlay is still up (without removing the first one).
#1958
I really think that'd be a problem in this case, given the way I want to use it. Using an invisible character would be a real obstacle. Thanks anyway though. I'd considered overlays but these would be used to frequently (and several at a time in a lot of cases) it again seems too complicated. It might be my only option, I don't know...

kingsized: That's exactly the kind of situation I was thinking of. Lots of people have birthdays on that day and I'm sure more than a few really dread the date now.

This is the first beta I've used so far, and so just let me say thankyou for fixing the transperency problem with text windows ^_^ Works beautifully now!

Is that message that appears when you first test a game new? Or has it just been too long since I first saw it...
