While games like Blade Runner and Lure of the Temptress had characters roaming around seemingly with agendas, they didn't really.

For me, in terms of LotT, the illusion was there. I got a real kick out of seeing people walk about doing their own 'thang', even if I knew it was on a cycle.

I wish they'd just get on with it and get it over with.

That's all I've been saying about this ever since I heard the OT dvds weren't gonna be released until this new crap was all out. Thankfully, my wish has been granted ahead of time... in a way, so I care even less about the third movie now (if that's possible). I -do- still have the original LD box set anyway ^_^ *dances around like a Scottish pixie!*

Holy hell, I could have sworn this argument was over.

Maybe we should all just agree that the whole FtF thing was solved, and listen to some MC Hammer. Seriously, just try it - he solves all of life's problems.

This is the way we roll, we roll...

If you think DG's being so immature then ignore him. Respond to MY post! I made a pretty god damn valid point. The way I see it is this.

Your topic seems to quite blatantly say that you think the game is racist. That's just the way it sounds and so that's why people get the impression that that's your opinion.

You DON'T think the game is racist, you just think there are scenes of racism in there, and you wanted a warning that you were going to be subjected to this sort of thing before playing the game. Yes? Yes.

What I'm saying is that to avoid this confusion - change your topic to something clearer, as I suggested above.

Also, it's not a good idea to just start insulting people in a forum you're completely new to. You have no idea about what the people you're speaking to are really like, or the context of what they're saying, plus it's not going to make you very popular. People have a good point there.

If people want to make the comment that they think it's somewhat silly to be offended by scenes of racism, that's also fine - that's basically discussing your topic with their own opinions.

On a personal note, the thing that I find distasteful are comments like, "*sigh*" and "so-and-so bore me" and "*Laughs*" because it sounds very defensive and arrogant (in a bad arrogant kind of way). There's no need to flaunt your supposed maturity like that.

*Throws head back and laughs heartily while walking away waving a hand dismissingly*
"It amuses me so."

Darth - Damn, beat me to that steak comment. ^_-

For some reason, after a bit of scripting in my save/load screen, all the lines like:

ListBoxGetItemText (11, 26, 1, desca);

...have stopped working. The error is "invalid item specified" but this makes no sense because it's the right GUI/object number, and there most certainly IS one item in the list box. I'm stumped. I can't see how any of the scripting I've done recently would have affected that, seeing as everything I changed was related to after a save game is loaded, and this particular line (and all related) only runs right at start-up before any loading has been done.

EDIT: It's okay, I think I have it working properly now. I didn't realise it started counting items from 0. Is that mentioned in the manual because I didn't see it. If not, maybe it'd be worth adding it. If so... I'm an idiot.

To those of you who don’t seem to of read my text properly, I suggest you go back and re read, as you’ll see that I say the game should come with a ‘racism warning’ noting that there is racism in the game (unless you are going to try and find an argument in the fact that watching a scene of KKK trying to burn a black boy, isn’t showing a racist scene ?!?!?) I didn’t say the author was racist (again, for those of you who seem to have trouble deciphering sentences,) I merely said I found the racist scenes offensive. It’s just purely my opinion.

If that's your point of you then I suggest you change your topic. Although topics are an indication of the message within, I think, "Frank the farmhand -racist" would tend to be read as "Frank the Farmhand is racist". Maybe "Frank the farmhand -racism warning" or "Frank the farmhand contains racism" would be better.

To the comment made by DGMcphee *Sigh* I thought this forum was for over 16 year olds ? Grow up, and if you have nothing constructive to say, don’t reply to my posts – unintelligent remarks bore me.

#1. The forum isn't for over 16 year olds, it's just a recommended maturity level.
#2. DG is well past that age.
#3. The fact that he has a sense of humour doesn't indicate low maturity ^_^

Hippiiiiies >_<

Mephistophilis makes an excellent point. Surely you can tell the difference between depicting racism and -being- racist. What do you think of history books that talk about the Nazi regime?

Yeah, getting banned from an IRC channel is no great tragedy. If you honestly care (and you do seem to be burned by it) then try to make people like you instead of annoying them.

Interesting, I wonder if you're a uh... I forget the name for now, but it's a word that begins with 's' and means you see everything and associate numbers/letters/etc in your mind as colours, shapes and patterns. I've been told I am because I've always had very definite visual shapes and colours associated with numbers, letters, names, ... well, a lot of stuff. I don't know if that's not completely normal though (personally, I think everyone does this), but apparently it's a ... thing that exists. I wish I could remember the word.

As for what I think about the number 4...
Spoiler

Definitely pink.
1 = cream
2 = light blue
3 = brown-red
4 = pink

A = red
B = light green
C = light blue
D = dark green

Eric - you're so cool ^_^

Squalman - I have no idea who you are, but whatever, welcome back. I hope you make your game and gain internal peace or something.

P.S. You were here in grade 4?? The ages on this forum continue to surprise me o_O
#2112
Sounds interesting, but is there any chance you could make those screenshots jpg or gif? Bmp is just a pain in the ass :P
#2113
Shouldn't that be '9 Days a Steve' to continue with the "number Days a S-word" formulae? :P
#2114
Huh? o_O Cirque de Zale DOES allow clicking through text.

I think I see where you're coming from. I'll tell you exactly what my plan was, anyway. In typical RPG style, when you load the game up, it eventually gets to a Load screen. From here you can see the four save slots (either reading "EMPTY" or containing the save game description), a "New Game" option, "Copy Game" option and an "Erase Game" option.

All of these I have figured out rather well except of course Copy Game. You won't be able to do this during any other part of the game (ie. when saving your game), ONLY when you first load the game up and are about to load or start a new game. (So, exactly what you said, Gilbot).

Basically, I have it set up so that when you click on 'Copy Game', you are faced with the four slots. If you then click on a slot that contains a saved game (ie. doesn't read "EMPTY"), you'll then click on any other slot to copy the contents of that slot over to whatever the other slot is.

All of this is scripted already, so the 'skeleton' of it works. I can remove it though, if this isn't going to work, which I suspect it won't unless there's definitely going to be a function for this added in some future version.

Beserker: VERY good point.

Yep, I just see something I think is cool and bam, my new avatar. The two I've had here just happen to feature men.
#2117
Still need me to upload the fonts or are you okay now? I guess I could submit them to some font collection anyway...
#2118
I think that would be the GREATEST Game Ever.
#2119
I agree with Esseb though, I'm really put off by all the forums that have 100x100 sized avatars as standard now. I like having a neat, little, semi-restrictive avatar - I think it lets people get more creative. On the forum I frequent with people constantly pushing the avatar sizes, the pictures are just becoming peoples favourite large anime images and I think it looks a little retarded. Mind you, all those people really are retards so it's their fault I'm sour on the idea, I suppose.

Wow, I didn't know Pesty was a girl ^_^ What's with all us girls having very non-girly avatars?
