Hmm, I'm not sure if this is it or not... I have this great memory (a memory of good things, not a complete memory ^_-) of this fantastic game I had on my old old C64. It was played with the tape deck, and featured a guy who was basically just a shadow, running in and out of people's houses (brightly coloured, from memory).

Is this it? Because if it is, I LOVE you. I've always wanted to know what that game was, and I've never had enough info about it to look it up.

If that's not it... then no, sorry :) Good luck with the webpage, though!

Here: http://www.anime.com.au/Katt/misc/icecave.txt
...and Here: http://www.anime.com.au/Katt/misc/porttown.txt

are two pieces of music I've created for my RPG.

-PLEASE RENAME THEM TO MP3- (I can't upload mp3s or zipped mp3s to my server)

I'm just after a few opinions on whether these are satisfactory really. I'm NOT a musically minded person, I couldn't tell you which note was A and which note was G. I'm not expected to create masterpieces so... just keep that in mind ^_^ I created these with Sound Club, which I now think is amazing and I love it.

You can? o_O I can't find it anywhere... am I blind?

Dark City is awesome ^_^ I love that movie... it may not be a blockbuster but it's just a good, fun movie to watch.

Just had to say thanks, guys! I've had a play around with Sound Club now and it's absolutely perfect.

Come on you Sydney people ^_^ Get out your street directories!

Interesting @_@ Pity it wasn't some distress signal from a guy on a deserted island... that would have been awesome (though, of course, tragic for said castaway).

Where are you from, SSH? UK? I'd be willing to do it but er... are you sure the other address is authentic too? I guess since you know the village... still, I just wanted to make sure. I just wasn't sure how obvious is was that the second address was the address of the "sender".

While we're on the subject of viruses...

Lately, (only once a week or so) after a short while of this computer being on, all the text (80% of it anyway, a few labels and things that use non-generic fonts stay fine) on screen will turn multi-coloured, faint and become sort of "shattered" with most parts missing, making it impossible to read. I can't remedy the problem and always have to restart the computer (after which everything returns to normal). Has anyone heard of something like this?

Go, you guys! I may well see the movie, and it may well be a fantastic movie on it's own, but the fact that it used that title and makes no effort whatsoever to follow the original work is just stupid and fans are well justified in bitching. Borrowing the idea would've been fine, but when you borrow the title and consequently, the reputation for either established fan-base or lack of imagination, you have a certain responsibility to the creator.

Even a tranparent image will have the black box behind all the transparent parts. I suspect you're right about it just not being possible.

If CJ or someone comes across this, could you just give me some confirmation on this? If that is the way it is, would it be possible to add a work around to this in a future version of AGS?

I agree with most people here... don't be discouraged from thinking about it, it CAN work. It just has to be done well. The candlemarks thing for example is, I think, in good taste. Like everyone else has said though, there has to be a good reason behind it, and it HAS to fit very naturally into the feel of the game.

It was already zero, and it's still black. BG colour = 0, BG image = none.

I'm using Sierra style w/ backgrounds in my game, but for one or two functions, I need to use background-less text on screen. I made a new GUI text window and just left all the buttons and background without images, and also tried just using a fully transparent image as the background (which just registers as "no image")... I still get a black box behind the text. Is there a way around this?
#2214
Fantastic, thanks heaps, guys ^_^ I'll take a look at it tomorrow.
#2215
It might be a good idea to follow the tutorial in the help files, too :P Trust me, it's all there.
#2216
Thanks guys ^_^ Well, they both seem like good solutions, I'm not sure which one I should use.

Is it possible to add/subtract/etc a particular value to/from a GlobalInt? Say HP in my game was GlobalInt #5, and I want to add whatever the current value of (int) mondmg is.

Currently, I'm using simple integers to simulate battles in my game, but the problem is that they keep resetting everytime the code for losing/gaining HP is used. I know why this is, but no good work around. I'm not sure if ints can be stored globally or not. Either way, if the GlobalInt thing works, that'll solve my problems.

$1000 is a LOT. It's a REAL shame you lost your game, and believe me, I can only imagine how bad it must be to lose the whole thing (I recently lost -one- sprite I'd worked hard on thanks to a glitch in PSP, and I wanted to jump out of the window to end the pain), but like you said, that's a hell of a lot of money (and is that in US$?). Don't feel pressured to recover the data, especially as you seem less devastated about it than others here :P Like you said, restarting it might make it better! Best at this stage to just take a deep breath, and get started again (recovering or writing down as many important aspects as you can).

Hmm, this is a little over my head, but let me see if I've at least got this straight in my head.

Basically, I'd need to get a whole bunch of SNES music, and use a program like Sound Club to extract individual "sounds" from the music files, and then use them to put together my own music? Sorry if that's totally off, this isn't really my area of expertise.
#2220
D'oh. ^_^ Didn't see that... thanks.
