So I should just change the script as Scorpiorus suggested?
#2382
I ended up getting Frotz (it was just the first one I saw and it works fine from what I can tell).

I've since discovered the version of LGOP I downloaded is a version that doesn't allow you to choose your level of 'lewdity' at the start, and is unfortunately set on tame. Not that I got the game for the sexual content @_@ No siree!! (...) but it's the most boring version and I'm a bit annoyed. I've never had much luck downloading this game since ridding myself of my original amiga version.

EDIT: Er, nevermind that. I suddenly remembered how to change it... damn mind, it starts to go when you reach your early twenties...

General Discussion / z5? + Legend of the Sword
Tue 25/05/2004 15:26:02
I just downloaded my beloved game, Leather Goddesses of Phobos from Underdogs but alas, it's in a file type called "z5". What on earth is this and what can I do with it?

I also got Legend of the Sword... man, I love that game! Did anyone else play it?

We all get to that point where we're a little shocked at something our parents say, or we really disagree with something they say without thought but you can't let yourself get angry at her for it.

I say stuff like that all the time just in a 'jovial' kind of way and my friends know I'm not pretending to honestly make a complete assessment of a strangers life. It's just something you say, because that's your initial impression of a person and what you say about them to your friends doesn't really matter a great deal to anything or anyone. If someone jumped down my throat about a statement like that, I'd be annoyed at them (just like your mum was with you, I'm sure) for making a judgement about me, someone they know VERY well, and not realising that it was just "something you say sometimes".

I'm not trying to attack you, believe me.. I've been in that situation where I jumped down my mum's throat for saying something I disagreed with at the root of my soul, and making way too big a deal out of something she just said because sometimes people say stuff like that. I regret that sort of stuff now :) I think, "My poor mum, putting up with my moods and serious nature".

Think of it like someone saying, "John Howards a prick". You're allowed to say that without people getting up you for not taking into consideration that you're never met him personally and that he's probably a wonderful father and a loving husband.

Freaking hell, that's a lotta downloads!

I was amazed as soon as I started the game, it was great! I don't think (as far as I could tell) that a single thing was changed from the original except for, obviously, the improved graphics and bg music (that fit surprisingly nicely! Also, was that 'Loom' record in the original? I don't remember it but it's been awhile since I played the old version).

I did encounter one situation in which a number of glitches seemed to manifest at once. I ended up playing as Dr. Fred with no visible cursor... it was certainly interesting. Still, I loved it.

I played the whole thing through with no walkthrough for the first time ever :P I was rather impressed with myself. I know very little was due to memory because I was really thinking about a lot of the puzzles... I had the most trouble finishing (the very last action) which is strange when you consider just how many different ways there are to finish the game.

I've been getting the occasional bug report role in but I don't know exactly what the problem is.

The error message points to this line:

/**/Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã, else SetActiveInventory(GSlocid);

and says, "SetActiveInventory: player doesn't have any of that inventory". It happen when the player tries to give an object (unhandled event) to the bear character. I suspect it's to do with my placing of the unhandled event line in the script but I'm not sure where it should go if that's the case. Sorry if this has a ridiculously obvious answer. Here's the whole script:

Ã,  // script for character19: Use inventory on character
if ((character[EGO].activeinv == 5) && (GetGlobalInt(2) == 0) && (GetGlobalInt(3) == 0)) {
DisplaySpeech (EGO, "Nah, not yet.");

}

else if ((character[EGO].activeinv == 5) && (GetGlobalInt(2) == 1) && (GetGlobalInt(3) == 0)) {
DisplaySpeech (EGO, "Nah, not yet.");

}

else if ((character[EGO].activeinv == 5) && (GetGlobalInt(2) == 0) && (GetGlobalInt(3) == 1)) {
DisplaySpeech (EGO, "Nah, not yet.");

}

else if ((character[EGO].activeinv == 5) && (GetGlobalInt(2) == 1) && (GetGlobalInt(3) == 1) && (GetGlobalInt(10) == 0)) {

if (Go()==1) //Start going to the object and if the player
   {Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  // does not abort do the following:
FaceCharacter (EGO, BEAR);
DisplaySpeech (EGO, "Have a look at THIS!");
SetCharacterView (EGO, 20);
Wait(40);
DisplaySpeech (BEAR, "You got it! You got your circus!");
DisplaySpeech (EGO, "Just like I ALWAYS said I would.");
DisplaySpeech (BEAR, "Wow, so now I can come and be apart of your art?");
DisplaySpeech (EGO, "You sure can, Damien. You sure can.");
DisplaySpeech (EGO, "Just meet me at the circus this evening.");
DisplaySpeech (BEAR, "I'll be there!");
DisplaySpeech (BEAR, "Until then, I'm going to sit here and dream about my new life of freedom.");
SetGlobalInt (10, 1);
}
}

else ifÃ,  ((character[EGO].activeinv == 5) && (GetGlobalInt(2) == 1) && (GetGlobalInt(3) == 1) && (GetGlobalInt(10) == 1)) {
Ã,
DisplaySpeech (EGO, "I don't need to do that.");Ã,
}

else if ((character[EGO].activeinv == 22) && (GetGlobalInt(2) == 0)) {
Ã,
DisplaySpeech (EGO, "Why would I do that?");

}

else if ((character[EGO].activeinv == 22) && (GetGlobalInt(2) == 1)) {
Ã,
if (Go()==1) //Start going to the object and if the player
   {Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  // does not abort do the following:
FaceCharacter (EGO, BEAR);
SetCharacterView (EGO, 20);
Wait(30);
LoseInventory (22);
ReleaseCharacterView (EGO);
DisplaySpeech (BEAR, "Oh! A little bike!");
DisplaySpeech (BEAR, "And it's red!");
DisplaySpeech (EGO, "Have I ever done you wrong?");
DisplaySpeech (BEAR, "Well, I haven't known you for very long.");
DisplaySpeech (EGO, "Yeah, and we're already off to such a good start.");
DisplaySpeech (BEAR, "Well, thanks for that.");
DisplaySpeech (BEAR, "Now you just need to get a circus.");
SetGlobalInt (3, 1);

}
}

else Unhandled();Ã,

Wow, that is some slick art. Looks like it'll be a great game... give us some more details when you can.

ARGH! Queen is my favourite band of all time!! You're awesome!

Now I have another game I'm really looking out for... god damn.

The screenshots and everything look good too. I'm glad you actually have decent artistic skills for a game with so many Queen references. Make me proud! That's an order.

Moebius: I thought that was just amusing until banana man came out and I couldn't stop laughing for awhile -_-

Nice one! ^_^ Not only does it have own amazing interview in it (cough) but the whole thing had a lot of interesting reviews and articles. I hope the sponsership thing works out for you (you big sell-out! :P)
#2391
Agreed, being such a "funny little chinese guy" has totally worked out for him. I honestly don't want to put any of the blame on him though, because it's obviously others out there who have seen how popular he was and went, "Let's make money out of how bad this guy is!". If you've seen any interviews with him, he is a rather intelligent guy and although he's enjoying the popularity (as anyone would, really), he honestly is concerned with improving and being liked for actual talent. I've always wanted to hear him sing in Chinese actually, he may very well have an excellent voice when he sings in his native language. Maybe not... who knows. I honestly think he's just a bit of a pawn right now though. I think he'll go the way of Bob the Builder's singing career. Funny for the first song, pushing it for the second and then... gone.

Technically I'm a comic book artist as in I went to college for and got a degree in comic bookery. I've drawn and sold my own comics and been featured in a monthly magazine for a few months...

Groovy, what're some of your comics called? Got a link to any online versions or anything?

A rock star is a great profession ^_^ Go The Darkness style!

Personally, I'm hoping to become an english teacher in Japan, then a Japanese teacher in Australia while I get my translation/interpretation degree and then... something!

Darth Vader being called 'Anakin' never did sit right with me. It's a terribly pussy name... I wish the 'origin' of DV had gone more like, "Guy grew up to be a big, awesome Jedi. He was a dude, and didn't take crap from anyone. He may have had a beard at some point. Then he got a bit weird, evil and became Darth Vader where he was once again a dude, albiet an evil one."

His original name should have been... Vader or something. Or Dart (god, I love that name, any Island of Moreau fans out there?). Something a little less pussy than 'Anakin'.

Also (sorry for all those people that wish I'd just shut up), does anyone else think 'Darth Maul' is one of the most spastic names ever? I laughed out loud the first time I heard it thinking it was a joke. Sadly though... -_-

Can someone get rid of that picture? @_@ It's disturbing!! That dead stare... argh!

Honestly, I thought William Hung was hilarious. That's why he's famous, not because people took pity on him but it was just so unbelievable and funny that someone as untalented as him would honestly, -really- try to make it on the idol show. It was so bad it was funny. I don't have any problem with his fame, but I am a bit surprised that it's gone on this long. I really expected people to be over it by now.

We had a much funnier person on Australian Idol though. Some girl who sung ... it just makes me shudder to remember, but it was as if she was trying to do an Irish accent while gagging at the same time. Believe me, it was baaaaaad. "Hurrrrrrrrrrl"... just like that. Freaky.

What the f$#@?

Some guys, somewhere, are laughing their heads off at this whole thing...
#2396
Darth, that is quite possibly the coolest idea I have ever heard of ^_^ I'd marry you if you did that!! I was also, when I started reading your post, thinking that you'd do the bending on the knee presenting the ring thing... mind you, your idea is great too. MI clothing... too, too cool. Where is this place you're going to get this done at?

Kinko, please keep in mind that "Attractive" is solely a matter of opinion, therefore there is no "right" and "wrong" in who someone finds attractive.Ã,  Some like blonds some like redheads, some like skinny girls some like a woman with curves... please dont generalize or attempt to speak for everyone.

Adam Sandler does suck, most of the time.Ã,

Lek, please keep in mind that "sucking" is soley a matter of opinion, therefore there is no "right" or "wrong" in who someone finds sucky.

I read all the posts and I was just amazed that the majority of people were all "I wanna be"s and not "I am"s. Come on, where are the adults? :P I wanna hear about what jobs people actually have.

As for me, I'm a university student for the next few months, but that's beside the point.

Here's the way I see it (and because I'm me, this is all that matters).

The original, ACTUAL Star Wars is one of the greatest bunch of films ever made and its cult status is well deserved. It's special effects don't measure up to today's standards, but who cares? I think they're better because they're more fun, and they give Star Wars that "feel"... you know what I'm talking about. That... "feel" that we all love about it.

These new unrelated movies that Lucas has created are shit house. Sure, they're made by the same guy and have the same title, but they aren't Star Wars. I shall call them, "Shit House". They're some of the most painful things to watch on earth for so many reasons I just can't be bothered to name them. They're so, so very crap. The third one can't possibly save it. These movies shouldn't even be associated with actual Star Wars. If you think I'm just being too negative about them because I'm looking at them through "original Star Wars coloured glasses", then you're wrong. They're crap movies compared to anything. However, there's no harm is holding them right up next to original Star Wars to be compared, because they SHOULD have to do the original SW justice. They don't, they're shit, and I too think Lucas is a dickhead for ruining my ability to say 'Star Wars' and have people know I mean those awesome original movies. Now I have to tell people I like actual Star Wars, which pisses me off, and takes up more of my time than it should.

I agree that some great, awesome movies have come out of Lucas. I like those movies and good on him for making them, but I honestly hate him for the SW screw up. If he apologised for it, I'm sure I'd feel differently but the fact that he's done this awful thing, and still continues to do it, and still thinks it's a good idea is what sticks in my head about it.

Summary: Star Wars is great, Shit House is crap, and George Lucas should stop ruining a great trilogy and say he's sorry. He should donate all the money he made from these 3 movies (and will make) to charity as penance.

General Discussion / Re: I hate Steven Seigal
Tue 18/05/2004 15:23:12
My lord, how I hate Nicholas Cage. How I wish something big, planetary in size would land on him, crushing him and any (if there are any) little baby NC's. I hate him so muuuuuch! He just disgusts me. He's a shithouse actor in mostly shithouse movies, and any good movies he's in, he ruins. What on earth were people thinking casting him alongside Sean Connery in the Rock?!

I hate to defend Steven Seagal though. He's awesome! I don't like him as a martial artist or an actor as such, but he always plays great characters. We don't have enough infallible characters in the movies of today. Everything's gotta be so freaking realistic. Why not cool?? Under Seige and Under Siege 2 are awesome movies :) The Glimmer Man was fun too. More ass kicking! More cheesy, convenient story lines! As long as it's REAL violence, I wanna see blood.

Adam Sandler is... okay, I guess. The only thing I've ever really liked him in was Bulletproof.

I also agree with Kirsten Dunst sucking. Geez, I hate her. Ever since she ruined Claudia in Interview with a Vampire. Though, don't go thinking it's a grudge, she's just a terrible actress who always plays irritating stupid characters and... sexy? Attractive? Have we lowered our standards so much? -_-
