Urg, urg, urg... no, it's too disturbing. I don't need facts like that about 7 year olds... the image. Argh!!

I find this story incredibly hard to believe... and yet somehow, I manage it. It's quite true that there are exceptions to every rule and every normality in the world out there. The idea that there are couple ut there who have just lived away from society in general and haven't been told the facts of life properly by their carers is quite conceivable. (If only they knew it! XP Ahh... stupidest pun ever).

I'd love to have an interview with this couple though, and ask them all sorts of questions about the way they thought things worked.

Ooooh, I'm getting compliments on my comic from a game forum! ^_^ Thanks guys. After such a pitiful sale at the Sydney convention I just went to, it's nice to hear things like that.

Thanks everyone! ^_^ I promise all your comments have been given extremely serious consideration... or at least have been read. This sort of feedback actually helps me more than just about anything so I'm grateful you took the time.

I thought I'd make this a new thread since the original thread announcing the release of 'Cirque de Zale' should probably be put to rest sometime soon. Plus, I'd like people to actually read this, as opposed to skipping over an old thread.

What I'm curious to hear from people who have played the game is whether there were any characters in the game that you guys particularly liked and might like to see in a sequel. I plan on getting a little more serious with the sequel (seeing as the first game was only a 'test' for me anyway) so I'd really like to get just a tad more specific detail in what people liked in the game.

Thanks! ^_^

I have to agree, though I hope you've gotten the point by now.

I read the topic for this thread and honestly thought it was a joke. I thought it was gonna be someone pretending to be a newbie or talking about how this sort of thing annoys them. :P

Anyway, like Peter and OSC said, you need to do smething for yourself before you can ask others to be involved with you on a project. I wish you a lot of luck though, and don't be discouraged. A lot of people start out by getting it in their head that they just want to "make a game" but then when it comes to actually putting it together, they find they haven't got any ideas.

To be honest, I think the story is the most important part of "making a game". The story is really what makes a game yours. If all you want to do is the scripting, you're better off offering your services to someone else who's planning their own game. Even then, you still have to have a 'resume', ie. a game that shows you have a lot of skill in scripting.

Have a go at something really simple on your own though. The graphics don't even have to matter, draw stick figures or something if you don't want to create your own graphics in the end. Just put something together so you can get a feel for how the engine works.

Like I said before, good luck! ^_^

LGM... An avatar like that, and you're asking if someone else is retarded? ^_-

I know what a tablet is. I was trying to piss someone off. Plus, where I come from, it's always called a 'tablet'. 'Wacom', as a word, gets on my nerves. It makes me think I'm in a 1950's space sit com when I hear it. Why would anyone want something with such a stupid name?
#2408
What's a wacom?

Well, I don't know what's best but I'll tell you how I did it.

I started off just writing basic plot elements down on paper. Then I wrote down the basic storyline, and wrote each individual task (like, "How to get rid of seal" out backwards and eventually had my whole game written out on paper (though I left room for a bit of changing around here or there).

I made lists of all the objects, inventory, characters, BGs etc that I needed, created my EGO, then started making each room one by one, doing bits here and there as I needed. The dialogues and globalints were probably the last things I completed... then there was the endless bug fixing...

Jackstrap pisses me off because he accuses me of whetting his goddamn freakin' pants. He doesn't even wear pants!

I, too, am a big fan of the Zelda series. In fact, I can say without a doubt that it's my favourite game series of all time. I'm definitely, as with most things, a fan of the original NES and SNES games more than the newer ones.  Zelda 1 is still one of my favourite games ever, and that goes for A Link to the Past too. Ahh, what a wonderful game...

WindWaker, though, really blew me away. It didn't really have the same feeling as the originals in a lot of areas, but overall it's just a freaking brilliant game. I'd probably have to say one of the best modern games. If not, The. Overall, and even though I could complain about a few things, it just has a feel and a style that seems so complete, and works so well.

I'm still downloading the trailer, and even though I was disappointed at hearing it isn't cel shaded (I loooove cel-shading, even though I was originally skeptical when I heard the original WW was like that), the screenshots look nice. Personally, my favourite Link, and the Link I will always consider to be Link, is the original squat sprite ^_^ Still, that's never going to happen again on a console game so I won't complain.

I really hate them making Link too old though. People may say that you can't make out exactly what the original sprite was supposed to be, but there was always art in the manuals and that showed what Link looked like. From what I've seen, this new games seems to have done it alright.

No, true... I even thought about leaving it alone but I guess I have a big mouth sometimes. I should restrain myself more ^_^

DivaCup - All I can say is that I'd really like to see someone use it for a year and then return it for a full refund.

I'm sorry. But anybody who hates tampon ads can only hate them because they're male and in some sort of weird denial that girls have periods.

o_O This whole line is just odd. Are you implying that if an advert is for tampons, it's automatically a good ad and can do no wrong? People aren't necessarilly saying they hate tampons or periods or women, they're saying, "Those ads are stupid".  I haven't really heard of tampon ads as bad as what people here have been mentioning, but they often are just stupid ads. The one that annoys me right now has two women getting pampered. One woman stands up as a guy puts a bathrobe over her and the image fades to that of a tampon getting a silk cover put over it. Then they show the tampon sliding down a... slide. The visualisations in that ad are just too much for me :P I hate it.

You've gotta be pretty freaking sensitive to think that people hating a tampon ad means they're in denial of the existance of periods. I'm a woman and they get on my nerves. In fact, I hate periods (luckily I don't have to put up with them anymore - ahh, birth control ^_-), and I hate tampons. I think most women would...

Glad you liked the game! ^_^ It is a different background, too.

Ahh, maybe so. I don't really listen to the radio anymore.

Actually, I should also mention Space. Space are a wonderful band that I think had one or two popular songs but never really got known as a band. I love almost every one of their songs and it seems like such a shame that they aren't better known.

I'm not sure, but I think his point could be this (because this is the way I often see it). I always get annoyed when I hear really bad music that gets popular, and I know it's the result of a popular artist just needing to get another song out and not actually caring about writing a genuinely good one or not. Just making it sell with cliched sounds and sex etc etc...

That's when I complain about artists making songs for money and their image - when the music is just bland but made to sell, instead of being made because they wanted to make this particular song.

I'd have to say that I think The Darkness is underrated in Australia ^_^ They're appeciated in Britain, as I understand, but honestly, hardly anyone really knows about them here. I always get responses like, "Eh?" when I mention liking them.

I think Queen are underrated too. Even though they're possibly one of the hugest rock bands in history - it's still not enough! They should be acknowledged as the best >_<

I think it'd be impossible for me to list one. I have plenty that fall into different catagories... but like others, I'll do a list.

NES - Goonies, Zelda 1
SNES - Breath of Fire II, Final Fantasy 4
Gamecube - Windwaker, Skies of Arcadia, Giftpia
N64 - Paper Mario
Dreamcast - Jet Set Radio, Cool Cool Toon
XBox - Jet Set Radio Future, Dead Or Alive 3
PC - MI 1, MI 2, Simon 2, Grim Fandango

I've probably forgotten some but I was extremely conservative with that list. I wanted to put hundreds more up ^_^

Once again I have to say ^_^;;; ...

Which version do you have? Check the readme file. v 1.3 is the latest and I don't -think- is has the island problem. It's hard for me to tell because these bugs just pop up and don't make a lot of sense to me most of the time. Also, most of the time they only seem to happen to one or two people and I can't make them happen myself.

Kinoko, have you tried UAE?

It's probably the best Amiga emulator out there.

http://www.freiburg.linux.de/~uae/

I've had one particular version of that emulator (and a bunch of some of my fave amiga games) for awhile, but I rarely use it anymore... it seemed to have a lot of problems. A lot of games wouldn't work with it, and I just hated having to redo all the settings everytime I opened the program. Mind you, there's probably a bunch of new and better versions out now, I'll have a look around later.

And then there is DG... who is in the Great Australian Bite! :P

Was that a joke? :P I'm so thick... (because he lives in Brissie, right?)

Man, it's just amazing how the aussie population here seems to be so heavily centred around Brisbane. I always knew Brisbane was the best place in Australia. We have the most people interested in old adventure gaming XD
