It seems that news of my game's launch has reached the far corners of the earth. Both Cirque de Soleil AND Cirque de Dreams are coming to Australia to celebrate it!

Redwall - Can you give me any more information about that glasses thing? I honestly can't make it happen myself. What exactly do you say to him/where are you standing/etc ...
#2523
OK, well I'll give a small hint.

Spoiler
Have you talked to the pimp yet?

I was actually hoping that, occasionally, people wouldn't be able to find the cat ^_^ Heheh, I coloured the cat and the fence the same colours by accident and when I was looking for a place to put the cat...

Yes, the walking animation was seriously one of the first things I've ever animated in my life. It was the very first thing I did in making the game (besides designing the sprite) so I hope you understand why it's not that great. A few people have commented on it looking that way but so many people haven't so... I guess I just left it hoping it wouldn't be too big a problem.

Still, I'll make much better walking cycles in my next game! ^_^

EDIT: Beta testers didn't get individual credits (though I love you all!) because there were too many different people here I wanted to thank and I wanted to keep the credits from getting enormous. There's a thankyou in there to all of you though, and I thank you all again here now!

Can I get peoples' opinions as to whether this is a medium length game or a full length game? I'm not really sure where it would fall...
#2526
Aww, thanks for all the compliments!

Man, I can't believe that stupid mother is still a problem, I thought I fixed that. I'll get that ladder thing fixed too. OK, well I'll try to have that fixed and reuploaded by tomorrow afternoon.

Blackbird/Jockstrap - Don't worry! ^_- I had plenty of beta testers as it was so it got a good working over anyway. I still appreciate your offers and the interest in the game.

I hope earlwood was being sarcastic about the walking animation because it doesn't exist in my version of the game :P

Wonderful though! For such a small and insignificant test game... I was enthralled. Really! It's hilarious, and the background music is beautiful. The interaction with the narrator is great - if you make this game properly or another game, use that.

Honestly, for such a short game... I was impressed.

It's alive... it's ALIVE!!! Bwahahahaha...

Go check out the Finished Game Announcements forum. ^_-

You know what, that was such a speedy reply, I think you beat my FTP program by a few seconds. Try again now ^_^

EDIT: To anyone who found their download cutting short or screwing up - my bad! Sorry, I had to make a quick change to the file.

Completed Game Announcements / Cirque De Zale

OH MY GOD!

It's finally here... get your diapers because this may cause you to relieve yourself.

CIRQUE DE ZALE is at last among us. It's been among me for awhile, but now it's out here with the collective. After a lot of beta testing, I can confidently state that I'm 90% sure this game is free of bugs and any major glitches, and most grammar and spelling mistakes.

So... what are you waiting for? It's sitting right there, looking like a lonely little puppy or kitten, waiting for you to download it and give it all the attention and love you can spare.

Let me know what you think! Unless you think it's bad... if that's the case, best not say anything at all. I may cry.

(Seriously, criticism welcome. I may beat you to a bloody pulp but I'll take it all into account so I can make another even better game next time!)

EDIT: Ah, I should probably mention that the game is zipped into a 3 meg file. It's small enough for EVERYONE to enjoy!

Well, I suppose I'm a bit of an opinionated person, so I can't just say "there there and good luck". If I sound like what I'm saying is harsh, don't think I'm trying to critisize you or knock you down, I'm honestly just trying to help and make you feel better.

Like the others have said, at 15 it's pretty unlikely you know what you want to do with your life. Even if you think you do... I changed my mind a lot until I the last couple of years of high school when I realised I wanted to be an animator. I applied for a place in animation at a university in another city, moved there and set up my life for it until 2 weeks before I got my results. I realised then I wanted to be a translator/interpretor and got myself into various language courses instead. Even now, I'm starting to think that teaching might be where my heart is and I'll be graduating soon. My point being that there's no reason you should have to know what you want to do with your life now. You can take certain directions but it's very likely it'll change a lot before you settle on something (and even then, it's not like your life is set in stone! Plenty of people change careers a lot throughout their life).

If your dad is giving you a hard time about choosing a career path or something - that really is his problem. Some parents are like that and as cliched as it sounds, at the heart of it, it's probably because he loves you and wants to make sure you life a good, secure life.  Parents will never really give up trying to lead your life in certain ways. You just have to be comfortable with yourself, feel good about what you do and occasionally throw them a bone; "Yes, yes, I'm eating well", "I'm getting GREAT marks in class", yadda yadda. They'll back off eventually.

If he's giving you a hard time about marks or staying in school... although he shouldn't be putting that kind of pressure on you, at the heart of it, he's right to be worried about you. I can't reccommend enough getting a good education in high school. Make sure you see it through and get decent marks (the better you do, the more options you have but unless you want to be a vet or a lawyer or something... you probably don't have to panic about not getting straight A's).

If you have trouble concentrating in school, I daresay that's because of all this confusion about your future and what you should do with yourself. Honestly - you don't really have to think about it now. You don't graduate from high school and launch yourself head on into a degree that leads to an office job with free wife and 2.5 kids. Believe me, life is very, very flexible and you'll see that once you get older. I'm not patronosing you, but it's just the way things are. When you're in your mid-teens, you're still VERY young, you're still growing and your brain is still forming. You probably know that a lot of your problems stem from puberty - seriously, that stuff REALLY fucks you around. I look back on what I was like in high school and I just can't believe it - what the HELL was I doing that for?? It's the chemicals in your body - they really, really screw you around without you realising it. Weird, yes - but sadly true. Things'll most likely feel amazing when you reach 18 or so. You'll be able to think clearly and you won't worry so much.

UNLESS you do badly in school or drop out, and even then you can still do really well - some people even become millionaires after that. It's not a good idea to plan for that though. Doing reasonably well in high school (hell, I just cruised through it really - got very average marks even though I could have done much better) will give you a much better chance in life.

If right now you want a career in advertising - that's great! It's even much more realistic than a lot of other teenage dreams ("I wanna be a pro-skater!"). You probably don't have to do a thing to plan for that now but aim for reasonably good marks in school. If you change your mind later, no big deal. I'm sure you'll do it a thousand times over.

I went off on a bit of a tangent there but my point really is, just be happy and comfortable with whatever ideas you have for the future - even if you have none yet! You don't HAVE to have ANY idea yet, you're not even close to needing one! Your dad will most likely get off your back if he can see you've become a happier and more self confident person, and you're doing fine in  school. If he is the kind of person that still wants you to be a lawyer or something... don't let that be your problem. It's something he has to deal with.

ThankYOU Scorpiorus! ^_^ You just solved the major problem I had before releasing my game. Everything works beautifully now.

You might want to change that script there to "qIsTalking" too :)

The Darkness! XD I love them!

"Straight Queen" isn't a bad description actually, but seeing as Queen is my favourite band on Earth, I only see that as a compliment to them.

I actually have a funnier story to tell (if you have a sick sense of humour like me). I was in a car with my boyfriend driving back from a friends place once on a reasonably curvy, reasonably high traffic road. Out of nowhere this hoon-mobile comes up from behind us, darts around our car and then through a narrow, closing gap between two other cars in front of us. It was going really fast and driving like a maniac. We said to each other something to the effect of, "There's an accident waiting to happen" or "Hope the son-of-a-bitch runs into a tree" or something...

Two turns in the road later, we drive past the car, smashed up on the side of the road with a street sign running through the top of the bonnet. Some other poor car had been run off the road and was pretty smashed up too. Everyone looked safe and uninjured and they were all just pissed at each other.

Still, it was just... funny. I hope it cost those hoons a lot of money.

Remixor... can I touch you? Just on the arm or maybe I could just run my fingers through your Schafer-loved aura. You lucky bastard! ^_^

I wouldn't change your avatar btw. It's awesome! Very psycho Vincent Price. It was a bit of a shock to see what you look like when you're not staring at someone with the eyes of hell though.

If only this poor sap had watched the episode 'Boring' of the Young Ones... Neil explains this problem quite clearly.

So an OGG file will be smaller in size than an mp3? I'm currently in this situation myself. I've created all my music as MIDI (that's what I prefer in most cases, by the way!) but it just sounds terrible on different computers and I really need it to sound the same as the way it does on my own computer.

I've converted all my files to high quality wav for now, and was just about to mp3 them but... should I go OGG for the smaller filesize? I don't really need high quality.

Cute, Scummbuddy :) Very cute. Great, now I have an uncontrollable need for playdo.

After talking with others, I realise my comments earlier about how Paws couldn't legally touch you were probably wrong. Apparently, companies CAN sue for this sort of thing, which is LUDICROUS! I had no idea they could sue for things like fan art. It's ridiculous. Even more ridiculous is that apparently you can get past the law by making your "fan" work satirical. If you can prove your work is satirical of the original, it's ok. If your work is in loving appreciation of the original, you can be sued. I'm going to make it one of my quiet ambitions in life to see that these laws are changed. I may not do the changing, but I sure hope to see it!

Once again, great game. It'd be a pity to change it but probably even moreso for noone else to be able to play it.

Good luck with this. Don't be down on 320x400 though :) It's a lot of fun! I love finding ways of making items and objects work with fewer pixels. Think of it as an excuse for things not looking perfect ^_- It has so many upsides!

I can't approve of the subject matter though >:)

Also, Mappo, what are you even doing here with that attitude?
