D'aww, what a pair of sweethearts! MEGA-CONGRATS!

I know I don't comment here much anymore but I still keep an eye on you folk, and especially those that were around when I was spending my life on here, so I'm very tickled to hear this good news, Dave. You were always there being cool around the place and you probably hellped me a -tonne- as far as tech knowledge goes. I am happy that you're happy.

Hmm, okay. Thanks very much for the advice! This was all very useful.

Hmm, I'm not sure Virtual Dub is what I'm after, actually.

Specifically, what I'm after is something that can handle, among other things, recording straight from webcam and also creating animation (so, inserting pictures etc).
#64
Thanks guys! I think I'll check out Virtual Dub for the time being.

I'm just looking to play around a little with some video editing software. Nothing serious yet, so I'm looking for something free. Do you guys have any recommendations?

Check out http://www.billywest.com/

I haven't been there in ages but I'm pretty sure he has lots of tips on getting into voice acting around the place.

Thanks Nik!

Right, well I don't know whether I'll be buying from Japan or Australia, it depends on what my options turn out to be.

The software I'm using... I mean, currently, it's usually Paint Shop Pro working on 600dpi images, along with various others like email, browser, etc. But the whole thing is that I'd like to get a lot more memory so that I have the option of using other programs if I feel like suddenly playing with Photoshop or Illustrator or whatever. I guess I want as much memory as I can without getting too expensive.

I know I could get a card reader and USB hub... but I would prefer not to if I can avoid it. I like to keep things simple if I can and I hate having seperate add-ons if I can avoid them. It's why I like my laptop so much, it's so many things at once to me all in the one.

I already have an external HD (500GB) so that's cool! I currently have a 37.2GB HD in this thing and I find that's about enough because I keep most stuff on my external.

At any one time, I always have my tablet plugged in as well as my scanner, and I would keep the external HD plugged in if able, so that's why I like at least 3 USB ports.

The screen doesn't really bother me to be honest. I find it doesn't make a huge difference, but the laptop being bigger and heavier would bother me more. I want to remain fairly mobile! :)

Yick. I forgot about Vista. I really don't want that... if I can I'd prefer a laptop with XP and if not, I'll freaking buy XP if I have to. My current laptop has XP, can I just use the same install disks again?

I'm looking at finally getting a new laptop after 3 wonderful years of sharing and caring for each other. This one has been like a puppy to me, but with all the art I'm doing these days and with trying to speed up work on kinokofry.com, it is struggling along. I need something with more processor power that can handle large image files without grinding to a halt.

So, I'm in need of some advice! I'm completely broke for the time being so I won't be buying anything right now but I want to have an idea of what I'm looking for and what people have had good experiences with.

My current baby is a Compaq Intel Celeron M (??), 1.30GHz, 224MB of RAM. I barely know what that means.

I want something simple, and the more compact, the better, but about the same size would be nice. One feature I like about this is that it has a card reader on the side which works with my phone's memory card nicely, but I could live without it I suppose. I also need at least 3 USB ports.

Seriously, that's all I need! I have simple needs, but I DO need a decent amount of processor power so that I can work on very very large images with ease as well as having things like email and iTunes going.

So I suppose, do you guys recommend a certain company over others? What's the best -way- to buy? Should I get one online? I need it to be as cheap as possible because I have no job and every cent counts ^_^

Thanks guys!

P.S. Oh, of course I need built in wireless but I'm assuming everything comes with that these days.

I can never figure out all these bloody forum codes.

I figured some of you might be interested!

THANKYOU!

That's him!

Nope, it's not Lil Jon. He's bigger and fatter and he YELLS ^_^

I'm trying to remember the name of a hip hop (?) artist I saw about 4 or 5 years ago.

He's a BIG fat black dude, and he sings like he's fucking yelling and belting it out the whole time. The -whole- time. It's awesome. I saw one or two songs of his before I moved to Japan so I have no idea if this guy is still going and known by people or what.

I wanna say he had a name like, "Fat Jim". Obviously, not that. But you know. A descriptive name.

The only other thing I can think is that the first song of his I saw, the clip had him after some chick, and they had bobble heads.

Surely one of you knows this, help a brother out!

Appreciated ^_^
#75
Ah! Thanks for letting me know! I'm dealing with it now.

EDIT: Okay. Should be fixed now.
#76
That's a not-half-bad list there, I'm glad to be among them!

Thanks everyone! Especially the people who said I was great! Actually, especially Ghost because until now, I didn't know about Sh*thouse and now I'm laughing my arse off - it's wooonderful.

Great, now I'm gonna be up all night reading this.

But yes, thanks, I appreciate your support and enjoyment much! So much it hurts!

Oh god, the pain...

Some of you know about this wonderous hidden treasure of the internet already but for those who don't, please don't spend another minute waiting and wondering what your life's purpose is!

The answer is here!

It's my new webcomic! I think some of you will like this, so please give it a look. A big thanks to the people that helped me out with learning the PHP and whatnot.

Don't forget to tell your friends and many, many lovers, you sexy people. If anyone else has a webcomic, notice I'm with Project Wonderful so do feel free to advertise your site on mine at, currently, no cost whatsoever.

Cheers!

That's exactly what I was thinking...

Monkey: Don't abuse the monkey! I think something may be up with your code maybe...? ^_^

...

There are possibly a thousand answers to your question.

What's your reasoning that I should do so? I just don't get why you're even asking.

It's like asking, "Why don't you try eating a banana upside down?".
