Heiphenation is out of the question @_@ I'll feel like a divorcee in the making.

Hehe, certainly not for awhile yet. Not until I get back to Australia (where there are fairly liberal laws concerning marriage so we can do whatever we like. I have friends that have kept their names, friends that have changed) and awhile after that because I'm the sort of person that likes to organise things like this well, not rush them and have everything go screwy.

For now, I'm leaning towards the Robocop idea, but I'm more partial to Batman, and Neal would probably prefer Anpanman.

Oooooooooooooooh, pretty!!

I'm afraid I had the same reaction. Sorry to reiterate but... what? o_O

Anyway *cough*

WHOA! This game looks GREAT! The graphics are superb, I adore the style... damn, I want to play this. I can already see from the way you post alone that this will be hilarious.

Wow, a remake ^_^ You don't see those all that often. Good luck!

I haven't played your original (and I'm at work now so I can't get it) but although it looks pretty cool, I'd suggest using one or two extra shades of colour for a bit more ... wachacallit... depth. The sun is a nice touch :D

I've already said it but I just want you to know I'm -still- highly anticipating this game. It's not even out of interest about how you go about it or the style of your RPG... I just want to play it!

I think it's too potentially problematic and wouldn't be used widely enough to impliment officially. I'm just in the habit of ctrl+S-ing after just about every thing I do. There are times when I open the game and do a lot of damaging stuff to the game just to test something... I like not having the danger that auto-save is turned on and having that result in disaster.

There's certainly no "head" of the household, and we're already 'unified'. Neither of us are getting married for any reason other than formalising our relationship, for legal purposes (as you said, we're sharing our lives and being formally married makes that easier), and so we can have a wedding and an awesome party ^_^

What I mean is that we already live as a normal married couple do. Heck, I have to stop myself from calling him my husband most of the time. Our lives are already shared, as such.

We won't be having kids so that's not a worry, and the cats only have one name each so they'll be fine.

I'm particularly interested in what the women here think, because it's us doing the name changing.

I really only thought of this today because one of the teacher's got married, and you tend to call people by their last names in Japan so she's no longer 'Miura-sensei', but 'Sawara-sensei' (which is a damn hard change to get used to).

Do you realise what this means?

Americans may have to shut up while the rest of us carry on, being as annoying and offensive as we like O_O

I've been thinking a bit lately, just lightly, about whether I should change my last name when I get married. This could still be over a year away but I feel like it's gonna take that long to make a decision.

The problem is I don't feel either way on the subject whatsoever. I don't care and I can see ups and downs on both sides. I don't have any moral beliefs or religious beliefs that dictate whether I should keep my last name or take my husbands and he feels exactly the same as I do on the subject so it's purely up to me and doesn't matter much either way.

I like my last name, and I've had it forever. I like his too, and it would certainly be interesting to see how it feels to have a different name. It would make some legal matters easier I suppose, to change, but then again keeping it the same would mean I wouldn't have the hassel of changing it in various places either so ... I feel like it's even on both sides!

I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or input on the subject. Have you done it? Know someone who kept/changed their name? Any problems I'm not forseeing? I'm completely on the fence about this right now, as I just don't care @_@ I'm 100% happy to do either.

(Yes, I've considered the fact that perhaps men could change their last names but if my fiance doesn't specifically want to, it's not worth making an issue about it, whereas I will specifically be asked at some point).

We got a fancy french dinner after a very formal lesson on very formal Western table manners. It took an hour and a half to eat 5 courses and the food wouldn't have filled the stomach of my cat.

She's a kitten, too.

(Fantastic soup though. Sweet potato or something. It was like a dessert)

1. Either they can't spell, think it's cool, or are doing it because it's funny to make fun of people who do that by going along with it.
2. The former, yes... the latter, less so. Becoming more so as the joke grows old.
3. The former ones? They should sent to school @_@ Maybe school-jail.

Okay, here's mine.

1. Is a little salad, a pizza roll, an ice tea, a little yoghurt and sweet bread too much for lunch (when you haven't had breakfast)?
2. Do you talk more or less with a person the more time you spend with them/the more comfortable you get with them?
3. Can you please do the Monty Python joke? I missed my chance, I'm already on my third question. Damn.

got up the next morning for a 3 day English Discovery Camp where I had an absolute BLAST. Who would have known lawn sledding could be SO much fun?

Who would have known that lawn sledding could help you learn English? (Just kidding, my English camp, which is called "Friendly Camp," consists mainly of snorkelling in the beautiful ocean off the coast of a tiny island...)

No, no, it's true. All the ALTs were constantly making cracks about just how useful (or not) this was for the kids in terms of teaching them English. It was more useful for making them like English... I personally thought it was great. Instead of just teaching them this or that that they can really learn back at their normal school, they got a chance to just listen to us speaking fairly naturally, try to speak and to feel comfortable.

Whoops, I didn't mean to rant @_@ I just totally enjoyed it. And that wasn't at you either... more against the couple of sour-puss ALTs I had to share a room with who just complained about everything instead of having fun.

To continue with this OT discussion... my two cents.

"Techno", to a lover of such or similar kinds of music, means something very specific. "Techno" to anyone else means all that modern music with electronic beats and boom-booms collectively.

Let's not fight about who's right and who's wrong. I don't know what house or jungle is, but I respect people who are into it and understand the different genres. To me, I use the work in the blanket sense. I don't mean offense, but that's what it is in my world, my life. I don't have an interest in it so I don't care. We should always try to see these things from the other person's point of view. My parents don't know one computer game from the next, but that's -fine-, they don't need to. I can see where they're coming from with that.

As for saying "all techno is talentless shit" or something similar... again, that's FINE. You can't say someone shouldn't think that, it's an opinion. In the same vein, they shouldn't assume that someone who IS a fan of techno/jungle/drum and bass is listening to the same stuff they've heard to give them that impression.

I must admit, for the most part, I -do- believe creating "techno" music takes FAR less talent that normal music. I've made techno music... it's pretty damn easy if you have a computer! I can't even play chopsticks on the piano though.

That doesn't mean I'm making high quality "techno" music though, nor does it mean that just because it's amateurish, someone wouldn't enjoy it. I -LOVE- my own techno music. I think it's awesome, but it wasn't very hard. Not 'hard' when compared to writing music from scratch or playing an instrument, that's for sure.

However, I -know- that there are some people that truly can make fantastic "techno" music, that I don't think just anyone can do. To me, the Jet Set Radio soundtrack features fantastic pieces of electronic music. That shit is just damn funky, and I've been listening to it for YEARS without ever getting sick of it.

In summary: Let's not get angry at other people's perceptions, AND let's not just make full on blanket statements about things (in a serious fashion) when you haven't experienced that much of the genre. If you're being light hearted about it though, go ahead.

I'm very much in the sticks here, no foreign food stores. There are some in a couple of cities I go to but it's mostly stuff like decent cheese and cadbury's chocolate (not that I complain about that), not baked beans. There's a Foreign Buyers Club online I could get them from but I don't have a credit card and... well, it's a lot of trouble to go to. Heck, I can live without them for a bit longer.

I really just miss being able to go out and buy them easily from my local grocery store. I did recently find some tins of (what I think is) 4 beans mix, so maybe I can pour them into a bowl of tomato sauce and make my own.
#776
That IS pretty insane. Seriously, baked beans are a fabulous food. I'm sure there are some unhealthy versions out there but your standard, run of the mill baked beans are an excellent thing to eat.

God, now I'm depressed X| I can't get them for another 6 and a half months.

Jesus christ, Yutzster o_o I read the second page where you call everyone a cunt and had to read the first one to see why. I still don't get it!

I think this topic is just way too specific for most people to answer it the way you want. People want to talk about their favourite songs or albums of 2005 but I don't think many people necessarilly have had the kind of year that could be defined by song. I certainly haven't.

I can say 2005 reminds me of Maia Hi song (O-zone - Dragostae Din Tei (spelling?)) because it was played, and is still played, like crazy over here in Japan. The songs I personally listened to were mostly what I listened to last year, with some new additions like Scissor Sisters and a good helping of ACDC.

If I had to pick a song which reminded me of my 2005 experiences, the lyrics would have to be something like;

Well, I packed up and moved to Japan for sometime,
I got some money and bought stuff,
Sometimes I went to places and I met a couple of new friends,
Lots of time (time, time) spend on the internet.

I didn't run in fields of flowers, or fall in love. I didn't experience the tragic loss of a loved one, and I think in all honesty, I'll be hard pressed to remember that the year I went to Japan was 2005. I'll be like, "Yeah, I went to Japan once... when WAS that? Around the early 2000's anyway".

My answer is O-zone though. I guess I drank a fair bit, and played a lot of UFO catcher machines, so this somes it up fairly well:

Hurrah! I'm back at work!

No, wait... I mean, damn.

I didn't see another thread about this, so I wanted to see how people spent their holidays. I'm assuming you all had holidays. If not, it maybe better leave the crazily funny "I spend my holidays at work" or "Holidays?? What's that?" posts. You can post that if you like though!

As for me, I spent two weeks with my fiance who came over to Japan to see me. We spent 4 days in Tokyo (2 in beautiful, traditional Asakusa and 2 being treated like royalty in an AMAZING hotel that ate up my paycheck like you wouldn't believe - well worth it!), one day at the foot of Mt Fuji, both of us seeing snow for the first time, and then the rest in my home prefecture, mostly sick but enjoying our time regardless. I saw him off in Tokyo last Friday, got back home at midnight and got up the next morning for a 3 day English Discovery Camp where I had an absolute BLAST. Who would have known lawn sledding could be SO much fun?

Despite not being ready to tackle school again and teach my "home" kids, I'm back feeling quite refreshed and rather glad that I can just get back into a normal routine again.

That yeast joke just about made me relieve myself.

Everyone's actual advice has been good though. I'd suggest further, don't colour things yet (of course, do what you like for pictures to simply make you happy but as far as trying to improve your artistic skills goes...). Learn about anatomy, use wire frames, sketch ALL the time (carry a notebook with you everywhere and just sketch -anything-. It doesn't matter if it's half a face, or an eye, or a line). You'll slowly improve and develop a natural sense (as much as a natural sense can be developed) for the way things should look.

Once you think you've really improved yourself, start colouring again and you'll see HUGE improvements on what you can do at this stage.

I think big brother's third example is the way to go, it looks stunning.
