General Discussion / Re: The X-Files

Yeah! The dream team of paranormal investigation is back on track!

Spoiler
My Struggle:
I couldn't make much out of the first episode, which seemed a little bit overreaching with it's paranoidical gibberish blabbering - even if the roswell scenes and the ending with the kill squad / assasination by UFO where pretty good CGI-wise. Also it threw away half of the show's mythology with a few sentences... I dont know yet if I like where the main-arc is heading now. But the M/S-chemistry is still on fire. I just love these guys interacting.

Founders Mutation:
Now that is what I am talking about! Just fantastic how bluntly but nevertheless cool the creators transfered the old-schoolness of this cult show into our modern times. I got a Fringe feeling more than once which for me is the best a mystery scifi show can achieve nowadays (Fringe is the scifi-mystery queen! Watch it if you missed it). It was pretty brutal, much more than what X-Phillies are used to. But it continued to build the new story on the side line with a clever case and great actors. Now I am completely into the new X-Files.

@Stupot+:
Spoiler
They did mention the 2012-plot element! I guess Mulder called it the beginning of a countdown... (roll) Which sounds for me like the authors need more time to find a solution for cutting that old story thread...

I guess the subgenre is too small to have made this a hard one ;)

I liked it and got scared to death when the CD literally exploded in my cd-rom drive while playing it 15 years ago. 8-0
Never found a way to get a rom-file of it running on a modern pc...

Your turn!

Solution:  One point for every v-shape (but not ^-shape) in any letter or symbol combination of the name, posting (including hyperlinks of graphics in a posting) or signature text.

Slasher this is a clean project where you can see what I mean. Just click on the button in the upper right area and choose download as zip file. Please tell me if you get the same weird behaviour :-\

Is it possible to read out text the game is just attempting to display?

The idea is to change outlandish looking parts of the displayed text into readable words immediately after being displayed to give it a look of instant decyphering.

I guess it would be most practical to let the game read out every displayed speech text of a specific character and store the text in a string variable, then search for the word/s I want to have decyphered in that string and change it via r_e_a in global script with a yet to develop sophisticated process of shortly displaying animated SayBackground speeches leading to the finally decyphered speech text the player can click away as usual via cCharacter.Say...

Something in the kind of:

Code: ags

//
function repeatedly_execute_always()
{
 if (cGuy.Speaking == true)
 {

  if (GetDisplayedSpeech.IndexOf(" test ")
  ...
  ...
  // Do the decyphering effect and return the result
 }
}

Yeah I am now pretty sure we think far too complicated ^^ Westons Signature hasnt been counted after his 21pts post so this couldnt it be that either :(

Also he put a / in one post which also didn't bring him a point more than his 4 name points and the y in his post... So it can't be a / that gives points after all. I feel like I am back at the start...

Alternative with which Cassie would have indeed ignored selmiaks and my previous tagline :-\

Solution:  One point for every /-line (but not \-line) in any letter or symbol of the name, posting (including hyperlinks of graphics in a posting) or tagline.

http://theinfosphere.org/images/thumb/e/eb/Scruffy_2.jpg/300px-Scruffy_2.jpg just gets 3 points more.... OH! but the slashes!

Solution:  One point for every /-line (but not \-line) in any letter or symbol of the name, posting (including hyperlinks of graphics in a posting) or signature text. ???

(With that Cassie would have ignored the slashes in Westons signature but counted it in the postings hyperlink... WTH? 8-0 )

(No idea about Weston_Kaunks 21 pt. posting consisting of only a "^ sekond" a picture and his signature "tldr: I say too much
http://westonkaunk.itch.io/" though... - his name gets 4 points and maybe his signature is counted which gives him 5 more. I would count 10 points then...)

Weston that other stuff doesn't seem to be included or else stupot would have gotten more points for his "Rotwheelers" status or selmiak for his crazy upside down but still vs and ks consisting tagline... also I changed my tagline to test this. it wasnt relevant for Cassiebsg.
Other stuff like << Last Edit.... isnt counted either. at least not in every post...
