Case #43

This armed robbery case went into criminal history and every crime scene unit trainee after this has to know it. What got the robber caught?

Did the robber use a real gun?
Did the robber leave evidence behind?
Is there an eye witness?
Was the robber wearing a mask?
Was the robber caught on CCTV footage?
Is this a real case?
Did the case pioneer some new form of evidence or analysis?
Did the robber make some foolish mistake?
Was the security footage the key evidence in catching the robber? (It gave the police the right idea, so it's one important element of how he got caught)
Did the robber make the fatal mistake during the actual robbery?
Did the robber leave behind any kind of physical evidence that was used to identify him (not counting witnesses or recordings of the robbery)?
Did the robber leave behind something that would have gone unnoticed unless the police knew it belonged to him?
Did the robber leave behind something that contained his ID? (If by ID you mean an evidence to identify him definitely, yes.)
Was the thing that was left behind a trace of some kind (like a footstep, a smell...)?
Was the thing that was left behind something produced by the robber's body? (The trace was produced by a body part, yeah)

Spoiler

Was the robber caught at the scene of the crime?
His DNA from the cigarette filter?
His tooth print of his chewing gum?
His fingerprints on the cartridge sleeve?
Did the robber leave behind fingerprints?
Did the robber leave behind DNA?
Did the robber leave behind something with his name on it?
Did the robbery take place before 1900?
Did the robbery take place before 1950?
Did the robbery take place before 1990?
Was anyone shot during the robbery?
Did anyone die because of the robbery?
Were the bullets traced to the robber's gun?
Is there a parrot on the scene?
Was he addressed and inadvertently told his name while answering?
Did the one he was with call him by his real name?
Did he lose his credit card* during the robbery? *(or an other document with his personal dates)
Were the banknotes given to the robber marked with something?
Did he hand over a robbery note to the teller that he had written on the back of a paper that identified him?
Did the robber have a limp or other identifiable way of walking?
Did the robber ever remove the mask while on camera?
Did the robber have any unusual physical differences to a normal person?
Did the robber brag about it on Facebook?
Was there a dye pack in the bank notes?
did the police use facial recognition technology?
did the police track cell phones in the area?
Did the wifi system of the robbed establishment automatically search the robber's smart phone and link to it?
Did the witness recognize the robber?
Was his voice recorded when he talked? (security cam without sound recording)
Did he have a visible tattoo?
Did he bite someone or something (that was used for to get an odontogram for dental identification)? (no biting and no dental record thing but somehow we are getting a blip closer ;) )
did the evidence against him have anything to do with the internet?
did the evidence against him have anything to do with a cell phone?
Did an interpreter for reading of the lips found an essential point in identifying the robber?
Has the robber a wet pronunciation or a speech impediment (and so left some saliva or lost his dental prosthesis)?
Did he show his teeth to the camera (and was identified because of a missing, golden or decorated one)?
Was the robber wearing a highly realistic mask (so that people in the bank didn't even realize it was a mask)?
Was the robber tracked down based on the purchase (or online review) of something used in the robbery?
Did the analysis of the evidence require computer technology? (No it was good old analogue work)
Was the identity of the robber discovered by using the evidence to search some database? (There is no database to search THIS, and probably never will be...)
Did the robber use a unique turn of phrase that helped identify him?
Did the robber call someone by a workplace nickname, or do something else that pegged him as an inside man?
Had the robber forgotten to take off a name tag?
Did the robber show his hand on the CCTV?
[close]

Did he have some abnormality about his hand, like missing or extra fingers and the like?
Did the CCTV capture his fingerprints? (Though it's denied the robber left behind his fingerprints, I ask this to clarify whether "left behind" meant only the traditional sense.)
Did the CCTV catch the number on his phone that he was calling?
Was the robber wearing or carrying anything used to identify him?
Did the robber say something that was used to identify him?
Did the robber gesture or otherwise move his body in a way that was used to identify him?
Did an item of the robber's clothing give away his identity?
Did the robber leave behind an artificial limb, or other prosthetic, which was linked to him via its serial number?
Did the security camera footage help identify what the robber left behind at the scene of the crime?
Did the robber leave behind something that contained his ID? (If you talk about a personal card or some other identification document, no)
Is what the robber left behind something rare that only a few people have?

Did the robber leave any dna trace? (maybe, but it wasn't necessary to check for it ...)
Was the robber a man? (Yes, but it could have also been a wom
an or a child, so it doesn't really matter)
