Or one of the "Thief" games?

Omg it's an OPEN coloring ball! Anas this alone rips time and space apart! 8-0

How do I handle this infinity? Which server hosts a picture this big???

Seriously, what to do with the gap, Anas?

Update: false alarm! The time-space-continuum is still intact. It's an optical illusion! How sneaky!

It's time for more "Lost in the Boondocks"!

After achieving the 2nd Place in the glorious MAGS May competition and with great feedback I returned to the project...
and the new, polished version of my MAGS Game "Jump! Jack! Flash!" is coming along nicely!

Story:

After getting caught cheating on his girlfriend with the neighbor and thrown out of the apartment in Toronto, a young canadian rolling stones fan drives off to the USA, where he wants to sort his life and maybe find a new job. But in his haste he forgets to fill the tank of his '97 Honda Legend, takes a wrong turn on a national forest road and breaks down in the middle of nowhere near the canadian border. From now on he has to face not only his car problems but also all these small lovely cultural differences and the harshness of washington state citizens. Will he overcome all obstacles, fix his car and finally get to his destination or is he forever doomed to wait for help in the boondocks?

Here are the current features:

- 320x240 pixel art fun!
- neat light effects
- game lenght somewhere between 30min and 1 hour
- includes Rolling Stones covers!
- one scrollable outdoor location to explore!
- Three characters to get to know and love (or hate) (or both)!

What's new in Version 2.0:

- Moar SFX!
- Moar animations!
- Moar puzzles!
- Moar cinematic intro!
- proper game ending!
- Custom made start menu!
- Custom made inventory bar!
- Finally a save function! (1Slot only ^^)!!!

What's also planned:

- Talkie Version in English! (featuring the voices of Gfreezie(Glenjamin), SinSin and Cat)
- German translation

Screenshots:

currently working on:

- language check

- beta test (STILL TESTERS WANTED!)
- voice recording

For me , as the answers here show us, this is an impossible thing to decide correctly. It's a pure "What's your flavour?" problem. Personally I am with Matti on this one. Getting to crack a complex puzzle where the player has to rethink what he did and saw and do the right things in the light of new events is 100% fun!

Of course this is only the case if the puzzle is logical and consistant. Not picking up a stone you later want to break a window with,  is imho an example for senseless restriction and flawed puzzle design. But finding an item that is for example too dirty for the character to touch it without hesitation makes sense. In this case the char can say "I need a really good reason, before i'll touch that filthy thing!"

Another thing Cassie mentioned is letting the player feel the consequences of picking up everything. As abandoning the whole inventory is a really drastic idea I like a lot, the game designer could also be less cold-hearted and f.e. let the player constantly complain every thirty seconds, why he is holding onto that thing until the player really finds out he needs it. If so, the char now could still complain but with a homourous touch like " argh... I really hope this damn thing is worth all the sweat.", "Will I ever find a purpose for this???", or "I really wanna get rid of this...".

Hello dear community,

my polished version of the MAGS Game "Jump! Jack! Flash! (MAGS link...is coming along nicely. If anyone wants to enter and give this small to medium lenght all for free "lost in the boondocks" adventure a voice or a tester's try or a translation, feel free to post your job interest. Voices also please tell me the language and which role you wanna voice :)

open:

male hero (franco canadian, twenty/thirtysomething, slightly cocky)
female voice (oldish, seedy, kinda crazy)

The male voices are casted!

translation:

Okay after replay I managed to
Spoiler
finish the game in the most optimal way.
Spoiler
pretty shocking and hilarious at the same time...

But I still wanna do it with a dead host. Is that possible? Gimme a hint, mate! :)

Pretty funny scenario you made up there and the little things to do while progressing are well thought out and give this game a surprisingly intense touch.

Until now I found
Spoiler
several deaths and "the hero fails to save the gnrblex" endings and a not so happy ending
Spoiler
But I can't wrap my head around the last resort solution. It must have to do with that clown, right? after putting both Gnr... into the breeding chamber to my logic the transport crate should be free now to bring in another specimen. But putting the clown in that container and lifting him up won't do anything. Also I cannot put that poor tentacle victim down from his seat and/or replace him with the clown. So did that train of success leave the station when the host died and from this time on I am forced to do the ultimate sacrifice? :~(

replaying it right now to figure this out (roll)
