I think it's pretty obvious: he needs to check out what he gets up to when he's Mr Hyde.
That's brilliant. :)

So this friend of my dad's friend pretends to be a 13-year old girl on chatroom so he can keep tabs on his daughter.
Hands up who believes this explanation.

About the original request, perhaps you should explain why you want to do this - people might be more willing to help if they knew it wasn't for some morally reprehensible activity.

Post your code here.

It looks (from the hex dump) like the 'CHNK' marker is not the first thing in the file, so presumably you're searching for that, then reading the subsequent numbers into a Wave structure.
I would expect loopStart to be -1 and the others, not.

Hrm... so Steve, you think I should raise the top of the dresser some and have like half the 3rd drawer showing?
Yes, sounds good.
#1964
In that case I wouldn't align the bottom of the second drawer with the bottom of the image. It looks like the chest ends there.
#1965
In the first scene, the light beams from the windows cross. That wouldn't happen in real life - the beams are from the sun, so they should all be parallel.

It's a nice render, if a little empty. I realise that's how a church usually is, but it doesn't help your image to have a huge empty volume there. (Maybe that's why you put in that huge floating "Por Txarly"?)

For a game you really only need the lower half of the image. The second scene shows that.

Backgrounds look beautiful!

I hit a couple of problems with the interface - at one point I had an arrow instead of the cross cursor. I'll try to repro that. Also, seems odd that you have to press F3 to get to the inventory. 7DAS did this much more smoothly. I'm not suggesting you do it that way necessarily...

I really don't understand the walk speed. Doesn't it annoy you when you test the game? When developing I like to speed the character up as much as possible until I'm ready to beta test, then I scale the speed back.

Having read the other replies it's clear I missed a lot of this demo. Time to play again!

Pretty cool. Nice presentation...

Yes, most of the speedruns are done with the help of an emulator, usually played in slow motion and save states.

There are Gamecube/XBox/PS2 speed runs that have been done in one sitting without saves - for example some of the Metroid Prime speed runs. Less than 2 hours to finish that game is crazy.

There is a way to use plugins in under OSX and Linux - it's just that the plugins need recompiled.
The mac version supports plugins. The only compiled plugin is the fire plugin though.
No point in blaming Microsoft!

It's actually on this page...

Seems to be a doc file though.

I liked it a lot!
Thanks!
Probably the most effective facet for me was the sound. Great stuff. Congrats also to Peter Thomas for the music.
Great ending too.
Have you been playing Eternal Darkness at all? :)

I wouldn't do a "sequel" but I'd love to see another game with the same attention to detail. I wouldn't go with 640x480 - the resolution of this game about matched the detail. 16 bit colour, sure. That just makes your life easier.

Thanks for the walkthrough. I don't think I'd have gotten through the game at all without it. I noticed a few places where repeated actions produced a hint, but there were too many leaps of logic for me to solve it on my own.

Cheers,
Steve

P.S. The game locked up during the FMV credits... I haven't tried to repro it yet but just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else had the same problem.

General Discussion / Re: Guitar Hero Game

I've been playing it a fair bit - just about to start it up again in fact.
It's awesome fun! It really makes you feel like you're playing the songs.

I'm not a guitar player, but friends who are have the advantage that they know how to control their fingers but the disadvantage that the fret positions for notes in the song don't match actually playing it.

I bought a PS2 just for this game (well, perhaps for Shadow of the Colossus too), having played its predecessor (Guitar Freaks) on the PS1.

If you've drawn the shadows on a separate layer, perhaps you can post the unlit room for paintovers.

The story so far:

Photoshopping isn't drawing a completely new image -- It's editing images to create a new image, such as editing one image or combining several images. The contest usually lasts for a fortnight. Also, you don't have to specifically use Photoshop -- Paint Shop Pro, MSPaint, or any other programs can be used. Please make sure your image doesn't exceed the width of the screen.

This phortnight's topic: BLADDER HEALTH WEEK

Because Bladder Health Week is from Nov 13 - 21, I want you to create a poster promoting bladder health, or in some other way commemorate the week. Extra points for including adventure game characters, forum members, and/or onion rings.

No example image. My apologies.

Yay!
Lots of good entries, so I'm honoured to have pipped this one!

I tried it with AGS 2.71 RC3, and this comes up when I start the game after doing what the manual says (as in, I should have the green plane there).
Hmm, I'll have to upgrade and see what's up.

Also, is the doc missing chapter 6? :=
Is it? Dang.

Would it be possible to have a function equivalent to FaceLocation, to make the camera point towards a particular point?
Yes. Yes it would.
I might even consider it. Snap or blend? What do you want it for?

Really? What are your processor & clock speed?

I think it's rather unnatural to have such variation in the width of the "panels".

If this is supposed to be a luxurious room, then the wood looks too natural - generally it's stained darker and polished until the grain hardly shows.

If it's supposed to be a cheap room, then I'd just reduce the variation in width, have some slight variation in wood colours in each plank, and continue with the grain. It's probably too coarse but I think that's acceptable in a 320x200 room.

In any case I think the colour is a little sickly. I changed the hue by -4 in Photoshop and I think it looks a lot better - the base wood colour was then (118, 71, 0).

I vote loominous, despite the flames and the snow painted into the background rather than left for animation :)

No, no. Think harder!
Spoiler
I don't have a clue.

I decided to make it and made it within 1 hour and had it uploaded 10 mins later.

Perhaps it should have gone in the stickied Hour Games thread then?
